12xl or so would be a monster I would think. 1000-1400Kv range motor should get the job done just fine.

These buggies are plenty tough. It was funny to see something that big buggy cartwheel. The first time we wiped it out, we thought for sure that something had to be broken; but nothing was. The only real weak spot that I saw, was the stock bead lock wheels. They sucked. We kept having to pop them back out.

Those were the old style(original) wheels. The new ones have added more ribs on the inside and do not have that problem.

Mike, Could you do a motor mount for a 2250? I got that and a mgm 16024 I got setup for one Just looking for a roller

I just left my LHS. I talked to the owner about getting a roller. If he can find a buyer for the engine and related accessories, I'll be good to go.

Now I have to decide which controller to get. Maybe the 16024 would do, but I want to wait until I get my 16016 back and see how that runs before I decide.

I'd imagine that if an XL motor would do, a Neu 1515 2y or 3d should do very nicely. It's been a while since we got rid of the one we were messing with, so I'll have to wait and see about the battery configuration.

AAngel, did you get rid of yours because it wasn't that fast? or that you didn't have a lot of wide open space to run it?

i can see the latter point for me... MI isn't exactly baja country, lol. there are sand dunes in northern michigan (sleeping bear dunes), which would be a blast to run it at, but that's about a 3 hour hike for me.

i'm not going to have a choice if HPI releases a 4wd version. i'll have get one! :027:

We got rid of the Baja because, well, we got bored with it. After we took that "pipe" off of the exhaust and did a little tuning, we had it running at a solid 41 mph, as per two different radar guys. It was fairly quick and pretty fast. We just got bored with it because the only real place that we could run it was at our spillway, and then it was just running up and down the dirt. We couldn't do any sort of climbing with it because it was too long and not very nimble. It was also only two wheel drive which also limited what we could get into with it.

I'm looking at doing one, just because I'm bored with what I have already. Once I finish it, I'll probably get bored with it too and wind up selling it. As long as I go with the proper controller and motor, I should be able to sell it without anything coming back to bite me on the butt.

The one attribute of the Baja that I did really like was its stability at speed off road. It was rock solid and back end slides were easily controlable.

If there's a reputable hint of HPI working on a 4wd version, I'd definately wait for that. I've been tempted to get one myself, but the 2wd factor puts me off everytime.

What about an FG 4wd buggy?

I did think about the FG, mostly because there is so much aftermarket stuff for them. For that matter, the MCD kits look nice as well. The chief reason for my interest in the HPI is that my LHS will support it.

Yea, the XL motors pack a punch for the price. If you really wanted to go to town, a 2250 would be a heck of a motor on 6S.

thats a cool track. Its a good race! One thing that is cool, is that there are many to race against.

I never liked the MCD or others with their setup because they look bouncy, where HPI looks right on the track
