Yup. Your ESC is programmed incorrectly.

that's what I would have thought but assumed this had been ruled out.

Please explain "program incorrectly" so I can fix it,thanks

It's an MGM? it doesn't have a procedure where you teach it the throttle end points and neutral like with most controllers if i remember correctly,it just auto reads neutral when you switch it on.But it has that mode where you take it for a test run after each time you've changed settings so it must learn where 100% throttle during that,so you need to go do that. You musn't have gone full throttle enough during that procedure,or it learnt full throttle as 80% or something for some reason.

suicideneil 05.01.2007 08:34 PM

Ah, I see it too now. You had the TX exp set to 100%, which the MGM read as 100% throttle. But when you changed the TX exp to 140%, the MGM went into overdrive... kind like running the nuclear reactor in a sub at 115%; "it is possible, but not recommended captain" (love that film).

Gustav 05.01.2007 08:40 PM

no,it's just that he's not getting full throttle at 100% epa because the controller's not learned where full throttle is correctly, the performance he's getting at 140% epa at the moment is the real full throttle,if you see what i mean, but he should get that at 100% epa once it's working right.it doesn't really matter much,as long as it's seeing full throttle.(there's no superturbooverdrivehyperboost thing going on,although i like the idea-lol)

suicideneil 05.01.2007 08:43 PM

Ah, I see that now. Kinda strange you cant teach the controller where full throttle/brake/full reverse are- even my lowly novak has that feature.... nevermind.

The MGM can be "taught" the endpoints.

Pull full throttle, then switch the MGM on, wait 10sec., go to full reverse, wait for the beep, turn it off, turn it back on, and the endpoints are set.

Gustav 05.01.2007 08:54 PM

it does though, sorta, you put it in this program mode where you take it for a drive, and it says make sure to get it to full throttle a few times.it must be to learn other things too, like optimise timing and stuff.

oh i forgot about that!:005: smartypants.

Thats that mystery solved then. I see the value of combining all our knowledge together to solve problems- if anyone has leaky plumbing under your kitchen sink just ask me!....

Gustav 05.01.2007 09:47 PM

Could have used you today then, plumbers came to change a control box for a power shower, simple enough job i'd have thought,2 hours later,2 ceilings badly water damaged, sheesh!

Its like turning the dial up to 11 on your amplifier. :)
