For motor, Should I use a 3040-14 or 3060-10 or a 3080? :):004: I know finedesign has one of these 1/5 for sale, but does anyone or have anyone seen a brushless 1/5 scale run before. If you have a video of it, hook me up.

For batteries, I was thinking of using 2 6S 5000Mah Packs.
Any sugguestions would be excellent. Video of a 1/5 Scale BL moving at Lightning speeds... Priceless!!!

EDIT: April 03, 2008

Okay, I'm tired of the Petrol now... :)

I've started stripping down, the firehammer M/T 3 weeks ago, but waited and still is waiting for some parts to come in...

Motors and ESC just came in Yesterday Afternoon... this will be my plan...

MOTORS: 2x KB45-17XL-700KV
ESC: 2x OEMRC 12S100Amp ESC w/ Pistix
BATTERIES: maybe 1P or 2P.. 12S 5000mAh 25C PolyQuest :intello:
SPUR: 48T (Stock)
PINION: 14T, 16T or 19T (Steel 10mm Bore with adapter to fit over 6mm shaft)
FDR w/ 14T PINION: 11.76 (57.03 MPH)
FDR w/ 16T PINION: 10.29 (65.18 MPH)
FDR w/ 19T PINION: 8.66 (77.40 MPH)

I will start with the 14T first to see how many amps are being pulled. Here are a few pictures....
Also when I received the new OEMRC escs, they're changed the heatsink on it. Seems like it's a little bit lower profile and less fins.. And the wires looked like they were a smaller gauge as well...

But I really do like the Gasoline version RCs.. it's just so cheap to play with.. but brushless always surprise people :). I love brushless..

Don't be discouraged by others opinions. There are pros and cons to every conversion. It sounds like you want to do this no matter what anyone else may think. So if you have the $$$$ to put into it, then go for it. The F/D firehammer is cool and I am sure that they could do more to make it go faster if they wanted to drop the $$$ on it. After watching so many electric killers on robot wars I am sure that there is some versions of electric 1/5 scale vehicles that will do exactly what you are trying to accomoplish. I am sure that you can make that truck a 4X4 if you find the right materials to convert it. So good luck with that.

Electric mobility in general is the way of the future even if we don't want to admit it. Fosil fuels will not last forever no matter how much we depend on it now. With the size of 1/5 You could even develop a vehicle with solar panels onboard to charge while you run. That is the cool thing aboutthis hobby, we can design whatever we want to and make it work if we are willing to put the effort into it. Have fun and keep up with the posts so we can watch your progress.

I can't take the smell of the fumes, and the neighbours were getting pissed off...

FG have the 4x4 version for it, but I'll just stick with 2 wheel drive for now.... I've never seen the FineDesign firehammer run, but his setups aren't always the best...

This car was actually suppose to be Quad brushless for the WFRCC Competition.. but since They can't figure out the date, I'm not going. So I'll just stick to dual brushless for now..
I will keep everyone updated... I have a feeling this will be awesome!

Wow!!!

Well from the looks of the gear you are spoting there, money is obviously no object for you. You either have very generous sponsorship or you have money coming our of your butt and nothing else to do with it. It looks like you are having the kind of fun that most of wish we could. It looks as if you are well on your way to accomplishing exactly what you set out to do. Thank you for sharing this with us AQWUT.:lol::lol::lol:

I like the firehammer, but don't like the 2wd. Hard to get a 2wd heavy MT to hook with alot of power, even on asphalt.

lydiasdad 04.03.2008 11:04 AM

Awesome! I can't wait to see this come together. 2wd might not be that bad in that truck. It looks like a lot of the weight will be toward the back of the chassis, that will help rear traction. Plus only having to spin two of those big, heavy tires cuts A LOT of rotating mass.

I you ever run out of space to put your goodies, you can send them to me here and I'll keep an eye on them .

hmmmm...... how to fit the motors up to the spur???????????? a chain drive with side by side motors???????????????????

JERRY2KONE 04.03.2008 11:36 AM

Maybe

Maybe a center diff setup once he gets the 4X4 operation in place, or even a duel kevlar belt drive system would work well, and even give it some slippage to reduce the load from the rest of the driveline. Where there is a will there is a way. This guy sure seems determined to accomplish his goal, and from the looks of it he has the resources as well. I believe that we may see quite a nice 1/5 scale Monster Truck within a reasonable amount of time. It would sure be nice if more of us could afford this type of arrigance. Not that there is anything wrong with that??? This is going to be good.

I want to see how the 2WD version works first.. I don't like it much either...
Lutach, what's ur address.. I'll send it right over.. :)

during the conversion, I'm trying to leave as much stock as possible... It will be pinion/Spur on there.. I will have to make a support for the spur and pinion, that's it.. I want to make it as simple as possible... The motors will be almost side by side circling the spur... and if I do a 4x4.. there will be still room, and with a chain.. and have two spur gears, and 2 more motors... but there will be a lot of weight on the rear for this...

I may also have a few diff ring(maybe 3 more) attatched to the diffs to have more surface area to grab.. I have a lot of ideas for this thing... I will keep you guys posted, if you guys know of some very fat tires I could get for the rear.. please let me know... so I could get more traction.. :) The GST Wheels would look nice on it...

If I find the FG Marder kit cheap, I will get it for sure..... or maybe just get rid of a few trucks and get the Smart Tech 4x4 M/T and do that one...

Hey, I'm only a mushroom grower for the biggest mushroom company in Canada... :) I wish they paid me more, but I don't have any kids.. and my Girl Friend is very good with my money.. :)

Arct1k 04.03.2008 11:11 PM

No Feigao got fed up with their support and stopped supplying them...

lydiasdad 04.03.2008 11:15 PM

What is the weight of the rolling chassis in that pic?
