If using ~12v, yeah, you could use a 12v fan. But I assumed he was using 5v fans. Still, 4s or 12 cells is more than 12v and may shorten the fan life. I would use a simple regulator to get it down to 12v in that case.

The 12v fans i bought only cost 3 bucks & move a lot of air. So if i got a month or two running a 12v fan on 4s lipo i would be happy & just buy another one.

They're so cheap, I buy several at a time, then ya got spares.

well i raced with them, SUCKS!

even wired into the batt, i get HORRIBLE run time, and notecably worse punch and all =(

so now i need to ask more ????'s lol

Fans shouldn't affect runtime that much. Unless the fans you are using are high speed ones, they should take no more than 100mA each. That would only affect runtime by 0.1Ah.

Alternatively, make your setup so it doesn't need fans. And/or cut strategic holes in the body for better airflow.

Like I said, it shouldn't - at least not much. Typical fans should not pull enough current to affect runtime drastically like that. I would run without them on a cool day and see if it really is the fans that are causing your issues.

Judging by your other thread about your IBs, it sounds like your batteries may be the culprit since you are putting only 2800mAh back into a 4200mAh pack. Right there, your runtime is drastically reduced. If your fans were causing it, the charger would still be putting about 4.2Ah back into the packs.
