I just replace it if it gets too dirty.

alot of guys use that for the wireing on their t-rex helies. it looks really trick, and shouldnt get to dirty on account these are electric vehicles. where as gas has the oil in the exhaust to help the dirt stick to every thing and every one.

I do clean my trucks with Simple Green/alcohol and an air compressor so I should be able to keep it clean.

I have a MM ESC also and was pondering the thought of a larger heatsink.
I have one that was given to me free with a fan installed on it. Bonus, I know.
It looks like quite similiar to the one on the left. Except it's black.

How would I go about removing the Original heat sink?

I heard mention of the freezer but I'm not sure.

Put the whole ESC in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Then, GENTLY use a flat bladed screwdriver and SLOWLY pry between one corner of the heatsink and the PCB. Breaking loose a corner is much easier than attacking it from one side.

Also, make sure that the screwdriver is not resting directly on any PCB traces or they may be damaged.

Disclaimer: Doing this may damage FETs. I've pulled the heatsink off two MM's and done two Quarks and have had no problem, but the possibility of damage is there...
