All looks great on paper, but soon as you actually try it you will find out the 1200kv on 8s will be so fricken much faster then the 4600 on 2s you'll think the calculator is broke. In fact, if you take a 4600 on 3s(51,000rpm), vs the 1200kv on 6s(26,600rpm), that 1200kv on 6s will be way the hell faster then then the 4600 on 3s. I know it goes against the R/C calculator but you just try it and see for yourself. It's like those higher kv motors are just lugging out everywhere they go so you cant really compare them with a calculator.

I'm going to assume you are referring to acceleration and not top speed.

no i think he assumed that with the hv setup you have more power so you can gear higher. so the car will be faster.

hyperasus 05.31.2007 06:35 PM

Yes alot faster. Even with similar gearing you might just be real shocked. Calculate till you're blue in the face. It'll be faster on the low kv/high voltage even though the R/C calculator doesn't really reflect that. I just have a Basic 1200XL motor and even on 4 cell it's real snappy in a pede. 1200xl on 6s will be more then enough to push the pede to it's physical limitations. 8s would be good fun to watch LOL. Be careful with that trigger or you might be scraping the trany up off the road.

well the plan is to start with 5 or 6s and work up. but it can't be much higher than the KV says, I know there will be more losses with a lower power high kv setup,But will the difference be that much?

It's just so much torque for a 2wd. Running mine of 4 cell was kinda difficult because of the torque, just next to impossible to keep the nose down. Even the slightest touch on the throttle and it turned in to a wheelie king. But then again, who knows what's possible if you get that COG down and get some lead weights up front.

Hey I have an idea! Instead of lead weights, why don't you just machine some solid stainless-steel front wheels? That should keep the nose down as well as provide some gyroscopic stability at high speed. Hmmmm?
