Looks really good. The wiring is just too clean. Great job on getting the temps down as well? Was there an increase of run time, with the same set up except changing from the 9xl to the 1515 2.5d?

honestly i ran the 9xl like 3 days... in those 3 days it was nothing but a constant battle to keep the quack from thermaling or the motor from turning into a mini incinerator.
the next thing on the docket is getting this 14 pound pig down on lbs. the mashers look good and its the talk when people see it but its just too sluggish with the 40 series tractor tires on there. any idea's on an alternate route? -perhaps going to a maxx size tire with that proline volocity w/23 mm hex ? |
no mods, there are lighter 40 series tires. That truck was built around having a large stance. I think that going with MT tires will make it look goofy. Did you try the stock tires? They don't look mean, but they sure do hook up.

while it helps to have the correct tools it take more patience than money suicide... i have been working on fixing the problems on my real car that i created when i wasn't so patient for over 3 years now. I am fortunate enough to get to work hand in hand with a Honda R&D engineer on a weekly basis. while busting my balls for doing things the hurried way, he has taught me: the right way... is the only way. i find this to be true in anything i do.... funny enough i still find ways to shortcut and it burns me every time.

no mods, if you just have $80 or so and don't know what to do with it, you could check out the Badlands MT tires. They are a bit taller and wider than the Bowtie MT tires and have a nasty looking tread pattern to them.
The only other tires that I really like are more geared for racing. If you do get the racing type of tires, like the Bowties, Crimefighters, or Holeshots (very application specific), be sure the get the "R" model. The "R" models of the tires have internal ribs and although they don't completely stop ballooning, they don't balloon nearly as much as the non ribbed tires. Again, I don't want to start to sound like a broken record, but don't go dumping money into the truck trying to turn it into something that it isn't. If you want a "go fast" truck, many here like the HPI Lightning Stadium Pro. They are inexpensive and are decent trucks. If price is on object, I really like my 8ight a lot, and the CRT is a nice truck. Mike makes mounts for both of these. |
ya i need to keep things in check and your advice seems to ring loud n my head... i prolly will stick with stock 40's and be happy( maybe for once) i have to think about other more important things like baby girl on the way.... save save save!!
ps how bad is cogging on a controller? is it even at all if they temps stay low? |
So far as I understand cogging is a real killer sometimes, irrespective of temps. If the motor starts to cog at low speed, you need to address it quickly or it can fry the esc- gearing down a notch or two is the best way I believe.

motor mounts
nice muggy could you tell me were you got that motor mount i have been looking for one for a while now..

That motor mount was home made from a piece of what looks like 1/4"- 3/8" aluminum. Just add tape measure and hackersaw and et voila :yes:
