My experience with the 7XL (540C version as well) was that it runs moderately hot if you don't rev it too high, it doesn't heat up from current per say, more the high rpm's. I got temps of 150 running quite hard when it was ~10c outside in the spring, obviously helping there. When it got hotter (~25c), the motor was getting to >175F, still within acceptable temps for Feigao, but too hot for my liking. That's why I am going Neu.... no pun intended. :p
The finned case for surely helps with cooling the motor, but the Feigao's will always, always run quite a bit hotter than Lehners & Neus. BTW, just recently my end bell came off my 7XL, which have been a problem with them. Good thing a Neu is coming. |
well of course lehners and neu's run cooler, they are about 2-3 times more expensive, but ive heard stories about end bells popping off, no worries for me seeing as my motor mount that i made has a built-in motor clamp so im not to worried about that, you can see what i have done here

hey would this work, i have a 12 volt fan and i want to solder the ends of the fan onto the deans that also connect it to the esc would this work? would it affect the amount of power going to the ESC and will giving the truck full throttle effect the speed of the fan?

Hi guys,
new to this forum but not to r/c. I was directed over here from rcu for help with my e-revo build. So from what I've been reading on this thread is that you can indeed use a mamba max with a 4s lipo pack...right? I just purchased a bk warrior 9920 for my build, but I also have a spare mamba max esc lying around. which would be better? In regards to amps, both esc's can handle approx 100amp cont. My draw to the bk warrior is that it can go up to 20 cells. My draw to the MM, is that I already own a few and love the usb feature. Which should I got with??? help a forum newb out please. Thanks! |

No, not secret. Just inappropriate language for a forum :005:

Hi guys,
New to the forums here... so go easy on this newb... I've been in r/c for quite a while, but this is my first attempt at a E-revo conversion so I need some help.... what speeds should I expect with a 9XL and MM combo on a 4s 6000mah lipo (Two 2s in series), 72T E-maxx spur; I'm using an e-maxx tranny and motor mounts. Not sure on the gearing yet. I plan to buy pinions based off of the advice here. Any help is great. I just need to be pointed in the right direction. Good forums here.... |

The 9XL is a good middle of the road motor for trucks. It has a very good bottom and can be geared for reasonable speeds. Where I've found the 9XL to really shine is in my trucks that run the larger tires.

Thanks for the link bdebde. That'll come in handy.
AAngel, Yeah, I'm looking for 35 mph with high torque on 4s. This is going to be 80% basher and 20% racer. My biggest thing is that it needs enough low end grunt to power through thick grass, gravel, dirt hills, and other off-road enviroments. I live in Sonoma County so there are a lot of great bashing spots for MT's, but not for track buggies/trucks (which is what I usually race). I used to race in So Cal when I lived there, but since moving up here, its hard to find time to race. So I'm moving over to MT bashing. The terrain here is so prime for it! |
whoa whoa what happened to my thread?, oh welcome to the forums, i told you this was the place to be for electric stuff, BTW im asianplayer @ rcu as well
