That is the Align 600XL motor. Kv is 1650. The ESC is the Align 75A model. 8S1P A123s. Part of the reason for using that stuff is cost. The motor and ESC are available for 50-60 bucks each on the used market and 10 A123 cells can be pulled from a Dewalt pack from eBay for $100 or so. Some of the other parts are things I had laying around, like the Rx battery (to be replaced with a 2S Lipo.) I thought some heli stuff would work well to produce lots of power in a land vehicle, and so far it seems to work well. The ESC is an aircraft model, thus has some shortcomings, but still seems to work quite well. It does jerk a little bit from a dead stop, but once moving I can slow down to a crawl quite nicely. I never have any cogging problems.

That is a very nice set up kenkamm. Not that suprised the esc & motor run a bit hot in grass, but for the price its a very very good setup. Also very clean and well laid out- the esc looks like a Bk warrior, only much smaller and neater = cool.

Hi Folks,
Here is some video of my E-Revo with the Align brushless hardware. After making the video I realized it doesn't showcase the power all that well because the resolution of the video isn't all that great and the road rage tires don't grip that well on the grassy hill, and the steepness of the hill isn't obvious on the video. Also since I had to film it while my fiance drove, it was a bit tough since she has a total of 10 minutes of R/C driving experience. Still, I tried to show how the truck can crawl along pretty well and then smoke all four tires at will, even on pavement. I just wish there wasn't so much gear noise. The whirring from the Align motor sounds pretty cool though. I just swapped in a Neu 1515/2.5D and the gear noise is even more evident. It doesn't seem to have that much more power than it did with the align motor, but I need to experiment with the gearing a bit more. But it's a testament to the Align motor. They are powerful and inexpensive, especially on the used market. Next I plan to build a E-Maxx and put the Align motor in that and keep the Neu in the Revo. Man, this thing is fun. :yipi: Video: Please right click and do a Save-As |
are you running the slipper locked?
|
No, it's not locked; in fact if I tighten it any more than it is now, it will wheelie on pavement.

How much runtime do you get with the 8S A123 pack?
Very Nice Truck! I like that layout. |
Thanks!
I'm not sure how to measure the run time. Unlike the helis, where the runtime is quite consistent, the truck depends so much on what tires I have on and what surface I'm driving on, and also how hard I drive. Most of the time I do a mixture of pavement and grass, and high speed and low speed. I usually drive for around 10 minutes. |
