Wow, it was awesome, until I stripped a spur doing a wall ride . I have the 3.3 chassis I got from Arct1k but no brace, and I had the slipper set maybe a little too tight to bash with (I race with it tight). My mesh may have been just a tad tight too, maybe. Also, it didn't switch gears, I think it was stuck in second. Well I'm going to replace that spur and I got a body to paint, but I'll post some pics first. My Mamba and TrueRC battery were both cool to touch but the fiego was getting hot already (only ran for about 5 min neighbor saw me do a wallride perfect then said I should do it some more, another neighbor comes out.... you get the idea). The clutch felt really good, smooth starts. Theres a little more deadband at the beginning of the throttle as opposed to a direct drive setup but I think it feels good. Something I was thinking about the clutch, it should lower the peak amp draw because it is easier to get the car moving. Anyway, any questions?

Some stuff I got

ESC plate

Tranny mount for plate

The elec clutch, you don't have to use an e-clip, a 3mm screw and washer work too
http://inlinethumb64.webshots.com/27...600x600Q85.jpg
http://inlinethumb44.webshots.com/25...600x600Q85.jpg

The motor mount, the slot is so you can get to the setscrew
http://inlinethumb19.webshots.com/25...600x600Q85.jpg

And something cool about the motor mount (If I mounted mine in the low position the motor would have just barely rubbed the rear arm, but that's because I am using the RC-Monster heatsink, the higher position fits fine, and it you run a neu there's no interference, I can't give up the extra cooling for lower cg)

And because I live in San Diego, where Tekno is based, regular mail only takes a day to deliever:na:

And finally, a complete shot, after my spur gear incident:oops:

So... How is it? Does it run well, any quirks?

Matthew_Armeni 11.03.2007 02:50 AM

Yeah ,it runs really well, great actually. The quirks I had were my fault, I was in a rush to assemble it and did not properly shim the clutch, it's fine now, and the slipper was a little tight, fixed that as well. Painting the body now, everything will be ready to race for tomorrow :mdr:

Looks great Matt - You racing Barona today? I was going to try to make it out today for the kick off of their Saturday points series. Too many new projects popping up due to the wind/firestorm. Hope to race with you soon.

t-maxxracer32 11.03.2007 03:06 PM

that looks great.

whatd the teckno kit cost?

drkros3 11.03.2007 05:36 PM

tekno revo conversion

its only 150 for the kit. not bad.

wheeldean 11.03.2007 07:17 PM

It was $129 if you preorderd it but now its full price since they started shipping this week

t-maxxracer32 11.03.2007 07:21 PM

mmm i guess thats not too horrible.

saves you time from trying to figure out where to mount stuff.

Well I won my main in MT, lapped the other guys too. Hopefully there will be more racers next time, I like a bigger field, it's a lot more fun. I temped my clutchbell, motor, ESC, and battery after each practice, qualfier, and main. 5 min quals, and 1 10 min main(after the main I did a bunch of donuts too). My highest temps of the day were
-Clutch-116
-Motor-166
-ESC-118
-Battery-121
Outside temps-the high was mid 70's but in the sun it felt like mid 80's.
I was running the RCM xl heatsink on the motor and a novak 25mm fan on the MM. Also, I started the day running 15/38 stuck in second because I stripped my 36 spur the previous night and 18/36 is just barely too tight to run (17/36 should be fine, as well as 18/34-haven't verified this though) but I wasn't fast enough on the straight and did not have enough pickup to clear all the doubles. I was able to get a 36 spur at the track so I threw that on and also went back to the 18 clutch for the second qualifier, bingo! I was now clearing all the jumps with ease and zooming down the straight. Also of note is that my temps stayed pretty consistent with the gearing change. In fact, the only change in temps (more the 10 degrees) was the battery after the main (due to the longer run time). The battery was around 101-110 during the 5 min quals.
I think I covered everything, so here's a few pics, also, a link to the tracks site.

I should be able to get 15 min racing. We did a 10 min race, I ran 2 warmup laps (my average times were around 38 to 40 sec I think), a victory lap, and some donuts. I'll have to time it next time I run, I'll do a bash maybe tomorrow.
