i have read that if you put some thin washers under the trans. you can get the jato spurs in there, i dont know if there is anough adjustment though, but for $3 a gear its worth a shot

(54,56,58 tooth gears, 32 pitch)

lincpimp 11.27.2007 11:38 PM

The xl5 rustler gears will fit on the revo slipper, but I do not know if they will be too large in diameter and contact with the chassis, etc. Not sure if 48p will hold up, the mesh will have to be spot on, and no dirt or sand can come in contact with it. I would try the jato spurs and 32p pinions, like the emaxx pinions. A 54/12 or 58/13 would give the same ratio as the 9/40 and not require any bore reducers as the emaxx pinions are 1/8 bore. The 32p will hold up much better than 48p too.

So 0.8p metric is exactly the same as 32 pitch? The Jato gears idea sounds good.

On the other Revo, would a 6xl on a Traxxas VXL ESC powered by two 3s lipo packs in parallel be any good in terms of power and heat?
I would think the VXL would be able to handle the amps being rated at 200 amps constant.
The other possible set-up would be dual Velineon systems each powered by a 3s on an E-maxx trannsmission, which would cost more but it would most likey run cooler and faster.

Just got the Revo 3.3 today...wow it's pretty freakin' sweet. Don't have any gears for it, so does anyone know for sure if 32 pitch emaxx gears will mesh with a Jato spur?? Please respond quickly, I really want to get this thing running.

yeah jato spurs are 32p, i run them on my revo, with 32 pitch pinions (emaxx stock)

Okay thanks, i'll be off to the LHS tomorrow, I could try 13/54 and if thats running too hot, i'll convert it back to 2 speed. Will 22/54 fit on the RCM motor mount for a 9XL?

entjoles 12.02.2007 08:28 PM

dont know, i dont think anyone has tried it yet with jato spurs

you may have to dremal the chassis to , if the driveshafts hit

Now that I think about it, there would be no point to use a $12 5mm emaxx pinion for a Jato spur when I could also buy a $12 5mm mod1 pinion, then I could just use the stock Revo spur.

Went and got 12/54 gearing because they were outta 13 tooth pinions. The power is not like a Rustler with the 3s MM4600, but then again the Rustler is 2WD @ 5 pounds and the Revo is 4WD @ 8.5 pounds (yes that's running weight). Those light-weight Response tires (195 grams instead of 250 gram talonz) help take some tax off the MM4600. It's some very decent power and unlike what most people suspected, no the motor was not a paper-weight after the run. I was able to get 2 runs of 20 and 40 minutes and the motor was 115 degrees and the ESC was 125 after some heavy grass driving. Took some video clips, so I'll try to make a movie tomorrow and post it.

so you get the jato spurs to fit?

the 2spd helps a smaller motor push this truck, but i am suprized that the temps were so low

read that post, enjotles.

Actually I was talking about what pinion I would use if I got a 9XL, right now with the MM4600 i'm running 12/54 emaxx pinion/jato spur combo (had to shave the chassis down a bit and put thin washers under the tranny), and it's locked in 2nd gear.

Threw some clips together with some metal and I got this mess: http://s248.photobucket.com/albums/g...=rocknroll.flv enjoy.

AWESOME video man! Best music I've heard in a while! :diablo::yes:

That Revo moves pretty well with the 4600, too. Better than (I think) we all thought it would. Q: Does the motor ever reach full RPM? 4600 kV is HUGE for a MT, you should try a 10/11T pinion if you can. You might see wheelies then!
