Nice looking mini bluonyx. Let us know how hard you bash it and if the diffs can keep up!

Interesting, have you ever had to take it off? Also do they stay cool enough with that coating? It is not much different than shrink I guess?!

bluonyx 12.22.2007 12:33 AM

The first time I did it I only dipped it half way and screwed it up. When I dipped it the whole way again, one side was thicker than the other, so I had to take it off. It just peels off once ya get it started. Now I know dip it all at once.

Temps are the same. Around the 80-85 degree range when bashing hard.

Sweet, I will have to try this, I hate shrink, it is a PITA and gets expensive. I resorted to masking tape as it is cheap and comes off easily. Plus I can layer it for addl proptection!

Ran the 3S in the street and it's insanely fast to much for me. So I brought it into the garage and made my holder for the 4000 2S. 2S is plenty of power and the holder with straps works.

I'll give it a good run tomorrow morning in the dirt.

Nice work on the battery holder. I will wait for you to get some time on it and let us know how the diffs, etc. hold up! Bash it hard, as i would like to get one, just don't want a repeat of the crap MLST!

I have been keeping my eye on these, could you possibly give me the dimensions on the little truck i want to compare it in size to my Mlst2 and my LS10. LIke the wheelbase, width, length, and size of the tires and wheels it uses. Also are the front and rear diffs sealed? like the crt.5 diffs that can hold oil or not? I would LOVE to replace my Mlst2 but it has to be with another "mini" since i already have a mini track for it.

rootar 12.24.2007 02:08 AM

Nevermind about the dimension i found them.....i guess i wasnt looking at the right site.

from what i get its the same overall length at 10.5 inches, has a 1/2 inch longer wheelbase over the mlst at 7.75 inches and is only a 1/4 inch wider. i read it take 2 inch rims and tires (the same size as a mlst) so does anyone know if the mlst wheels will work, i dont remember if you measure the hex from flat to flat or corner to corner? I might be ordering me one of these SOON and the mlst2 might be going on ebay....

lincpimp, I bashed it pretty hard this morning didn't break anything but bent the front shock tower. But this was only because I decided to play chicken with a all aluminum Emaxx. Cost me a shock tower but I managed to make the Emaxx crash and turn turtle.:yipi: The only other problem I had was the switched turned off and came loose after a 7ft jump. It was just stickied to the chassis so I just wrapped it around the servo wire for now. Problem solved.

I ran it for a good 40 minutes and only used about 2000mah on the 4000 lipo. The mamba25 ran cool but the motor ran kind of hot. I bought one of these off Ebay tonight. Hopefully it's better than the what I've got now.

Not sure if the motor will be any better. Does the stock motor have a 2mm or 2.3mm shaft? It is a 280 size, and I have run a 280 l can feigao in my mini quake. The motor you picked out is for a mini t or rc18t. May be too high kv for decent power or temps. You will have to re-gear. Give it a try, but I am sure that you will need a longer can motor, the increased torque will do wonders for the low end on the truck.

bluonyx 12.24.2007 02:28 AM

I went to my LHS today to look for a new body preferably a Mini LST one because I hate the NOW one. But of course they don't have one. I just pick one up on Ebay.

I have a question. Are most of the mini's rims and tires compatible? I wanted to try M-LST rims on the NOW.

bluonyx 12.24.2007 02:36 AM

The stock motor is 280 and has a 2mm shaft. Ya, I'll probably have to regear and I have two motor adapters I bought for the Quake. One is a 380 adapter and a 540 adapter, I figured I could try to use those to mount the new motor if the mount now doesn't work.

I just have to figure out what pitch is the spur gear. Is there a way to tell?

lincpimp 12.24.2007 02:37 AM

What kind of interface does the Now use? A hex or pin? The mlst and mini inferno and vendetta all use a 10mm hex, IIRC (might be 8mm?) The rc18t, mini t and others use a pin drive. The mini quake uses a very strange way to mount, unlike any other.

rootar 12.24.2007 02:43 AM

tower says it uses a 8.45mm hex drive at the wheel (.33") i was wondering which dimension i should measure across my mlst wheel hexs to see if they would work... is it flat to flat or corner to opposite corner?????
