Sike means that the stock diffs are too high ratio. He is using truggy diffs in the rcm cases. He has 4.3:1 gearing as opposed to the stock 2.8:1 ratio. THe high stock gearing causes startup issues due to the high load.

o i c. well how much would a set of those set me back?
|
Cough!
125 for each diff and case complete from mike at RCM. Expensive but worth it. I am waiting for sike to work out all the details with his setup and then take his lead! That guy loves to test stuff and has some great ideas too. I need to rearrange my direct to diff outrunner redcat and test it some more too. |

Lots of new stuff going on here.. Direct drive, clutch set ups ETC:party: |
Yeah good times, I love to see the forum all lit up with inovation! Pity that I can't do all of the conversions that i have lined up, money is not the issue, just time. Hopefully it will slow down slightly after the holidays. My wife gave me two months off from working on the house.:yipi: Time to live in the rc workshop!

yno, what if i hah about 5 vehicles all brushless with mamba and feigao and some "inexpensive" lipos?

Thanks for your kind words Linc. I'm working on a custom Wye wound 4130 right now. Still need to nail down something ideal in using on the termination point. I'm also waiting for my Ceramic Nitride Bearings to come in. Mugen has a Truggy Ratio for 1/8th diffs that I want. 4.6:1 ratio! I think it would be even better. I need to catch up financially before I can throw much more at the Revo though. In a few weeks, my next Lipo order will be here. I will be selling some good 5000mah 20C packs fresh from the manufacturer. Included are some 20C 5000mah 3S packs. I'm gonna put the Revo on 6S for good if the bearings will bullet proof the diffs. So I'm pretty drained right now. A Quantity Lipo Order will do that to ya. LOL |

BL_Revo... do you really need 30C ?.. I'm sure 20C or 25C would be enough punch.... what are you powering with 2S?.. I can get some 3S 30C.. but not 2S.. |
I've never ran 20C Continous packs actually. There's alot about a High C Rating that is over kill IMO. I've always ran 10C Cont. 15C Burst cells.
When the Direct Drive E Revo was being tested. It was put on 6S 4000mah 10C Continous 15C Burst 4000mah packs. This was the first time I could really tell that I was pushing these packs too hard. They didn't puff, but they did get really warm (115 degrees or so). I ran some 15C Continous 20C Burst 4000mah packs in my E maxx with the Custom Wound Motor. At 4S, I could tell they were more than up to the Amps I was pulling. They seemed to hold the voltage higher, run cooler, and also when they were done, they dumped pretty quickly. This next round of Lipo's are 20C Continous 25C Burst. The 5000mah packs will go 100amps Continous, 125amp Burst. But they are more expensive. They all have the 45mm x 140mm foot print. This seems to fit the majority of compartments that were designed for 6 cell Nimh/Nicad packs. The 10,000mah packs I have, also have this 45mm x 140mm footprint, they are just thicker. Also being made from 10C Cont. (15C Burst) cells, they have huge amp delivery. At 100 amps Continous with 150 amp Bursts, they can power just about anything. All done with a 10C cell. They are bulky and have more weight, but that's the price for the added Capacity. I can now design just about ANY Lipo Pack. I wonder what the most popular design is for us MT guys? Alot of Trucks only have room for one pack. This is where Lipo's such as 5000mah 20C 5S packs would be favored. Still doing my research on this. I wonder what the current limit is on the new Traxxas Connector? |
well by revo i mean use the revo axles and make a 100% custom chassis and center. my dad will soon be getting a mill so i will be able to build it. the design will be similar to cabbie's ruggy on truggyracers.com. (except direct drive outrunner brushless powered, no center diff, and use 2 2s batt packs in series, instead of a fuel tank.)

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...mrevov2coupler No one has talked about them, but with those you could use the 8mm shaft, and the stock shafts correct? |

But they could be used that way too, as long as you don't over power the stock shafts. Which is a pretty easy thing to do with an outrunner. |
