That's one of the things I like about the MM; a nice upgrade path...

I've been thinking about getting a Traxxas Villain soon and hopping it up with a pair of 600 brushed motors. They are longer and stronger than the Titan Motors. They produce more torque which will allow me to go up a couple of teeth on the pinions.

I'm seriously considering going with a Mamba Max ESC in brushed mode to power them. Put it on 4S Lipo and it should do very well. I'll probably have to go with a BEC.

What I'm wondering about is, will I have to water cool it? If so, what's the best way to do that?

Nothing against brushed boats, but they suck. Kind of like brushed monster truck, just not enough power to turn a decent prop. Buy a fiberglass hull boat, you will not be dissapointed (the villian is plastic). Plus going over 30mph with a brushed boat and having decent runtimes is very difficult. A brushless boat (sv27) is your best bet. You will have plenty of power and decent runtimes. It is quite easy to get a sv27 over 40mph, good lipos and a x642 prop will do it! Good hull hardware is also a plus, a fixed strut and seperate rudder offer the best performance.

One of my customers made this video for me. I'm very impressed. I can make this work pretty good.

Check it out.

Looks like advertisement :)

I would rather get used plettenberg brushed motor and replace brushes time to time, while having having fun close to brushless :)

I looked into getting a villian, and I do like the very scale appearance of the boat. Your customer's mods are about all you can do with the boat, but since you can get the motors cheap:wink:, and the boats sell for a good price, even new, you may want to give it a try. RCHydros have stopped making their great escs, but I am sure that the evx can handle the 600 motors, it is water cooled, so that helps. The x447 props wil yeild the greatest improvement, but get ready to have fun with the prop balancer! Boats are really fun, however they can be frustrating, especially when you flip one over!

I am suprized at just how much faster that boat is with the 600 cans. I wouldnt mind a boat, but the river dart can be very choppy with a fast flowing tide, so I would need a big deep-v hull to play with, and the cost of building a boat that large and powerful is prohibitive. Maybe an EDF jet would be good, I do have a lazer 6 radio after all....
