Looks great linc, I thought you were going to do a HV set up?

Thought about it, but realized that I had the plett laying around and had the 3s pack that fit perfectly with the stock clamp. I have a brand new ls10 still in the box that I may try a hy setup with:wink:

Also looking to do a hv setup in my hyper 7 buggy. How does 9s 2500mah 18c lipos thru a 1300kv aveox sound. Maybe try the great planes hv60 esc and see how that goes. Not sure if i have the room for the batts, but I can check tomorrow.

I used more.... lol

I dont want to hi jack linc's thread though......

I agree! Sounds like a awesome set up! I still need to buy a set up for mine:mdr:

Wow, 9s buggy? All of your cars must run ice cold huh?

Well, I have had some hot setups. My first tmaxx conversion had a 9l on 16 nimh cells, I can't belive that the 9920 held up! I had no idea what I was doing then, kv what, huh?!

I have done at least 20 conversions, and have either used or setup 100 different brushless systems. So I have had quite a learning experience! HV is the way to go, it just runs so much better!

Yeah, Im sure it does, but for a kid like me, its a really nice dent for the wallet

I understand, but keep in mind that you can use 2100mah or so cells to do hv. My 2200 mah cells are from Uninted hobbies and cost about 110 shipped for 2 5s packs. 2200 10s lipo would be capable of more than 2hp. That is plenty for a buggy or lighter MT. Use the great planes 60hv esc and a pixstix adapter with the stock mech brakes. Not as expensive as a neu/mgm combo, and will work just as well. A 20l feigao motor will most likely work well on 10s. The higher voltage smooths out the current spiks, and everything runs cooler on more voltage. Be careful though, 10s can be dangerous, but no worse than charging lipos.

But then how is run time? Fast charge time huh?

10s 2200 lipo would have the same runtime as a 5s 4400. But since everything stays cooler and the amp draw is less the runtimes is better than you would think.

Nice setup linc.
The Plett looks great!

I only run HV in my 1/8th scales and MT's. 30 + volts seems dangerous but its really not any more dangerous than 4S lipo's. If you get smacked by a dead short, its gonna hurt no matter if its 4S or 10S. I'd rather run an 18C 10S setup than a 25C 4S setup any day of the week.
I'm running 8S A123's on my MBX5T, 8ight, and Revo and the temps never break 100F and they are beasts on the track...

Sorry for the rant, I'm just having withdrawls from the weekend.

Hmmm, How long will it run for? Like 25 mins?

Yep, that 8s a123 must be a good setup! I love rants, keep em comming!

Love the .5 BTW! Great vehicle, I may put heavier springs on the rear, are the grey springs you included heavier?

Exactly,
In theory, you should have the same run time between the two, but in my experience, the higher voltage equivalent always runs longer. The higher voltage reduces the current and heat which in turn equates to less wasted energy and more runtime.

I don't beleive the charge time between the two are any different though.
