I ordered the output gear package just so I could check them out and try to understand this setup, (before the description was posted). There is going to be pro's and con's to this 2 speed kit. Both output gears are the same tooth count, but look thinner and weaker than the single speed output gear. This also adds a drive dog, but it is somewhat smaller than the original tranny drive dog. The upside is, they do appear to be made from a better material, Delrin I believe. This worries me. I had NO problem breaking the teeth that engage the output gears on the original drive dog. It does look like I'm running in 2nd gear afterall. :no: The Wide Ratio set will make 1st gear like running a Rock Crawler, which could be fun. I will still get the kit and see if it's tough or not. Hmmmm............The possibilities............. With all of this being said, This still doesn't explain the pegs on the single speed output gear OR the sensor window in the tranny casing. Any ideas? |

It is too bad that you cannot just drop one of the original EMaxx two speed (metal)trannys in there with metal gears installed??:lol:

How fast do you think it is with the single speed tranny?

Speed wise you will be limited by the largest pinion you can find and the smallest spur gear that will still allow decent gear mesh and some motor to tranny clearance. Looks like a 25/36 mod1 combo would be the minimum size. Which would give plenty of gear for almost all of the proposed setups.
Sike, what do you think the max rpm a 2826 axi can be spun up to? 15k - 20k rpm? |

Well I finally got a chance to run my E maxx again. Got a few jumps in, ran around a little bit and the steering started acting erratic. It acted like the steering was binding. Sometimes it would turn and sometimes it wouldn't.
I disconnected the servo's and checked the steering linkage. Nothing is binding, it's turns VERY freely. Looks like these "Water proof" servo's are NOT really all that tough. Anyone got any suggestions on some tough ones? I think both of these just stripped out. They don't have to be super strong, just tough, since there will be two of them serving the purpose. I have a CC BEC set to 6.0 volts, but I didn't think that should hurt them like this. http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...m/DSC06817.jpg |

To start I would send TRAXAS an email just like you did here and ask for their support in the matter. We both know that they want to maintain their reputation, and this is not a good thing to have happening with their newest EMAXX product. Maybe it is a deffective batch of servos, or they may need to change the servo specs to accomodate the application. Kind of like a recall. That looks like a definite material failure/defect to me. I guess we are still going to have to upgrade the steering servos to the hi torque type on our own to keep up with the vehicles pounding.:yes: Keep us informed of what they tell you Sikes.
