A cheaper alternative maybe? Does the center diff use 8x16 bearings?

Yes that diff will work fine...I just used the hyper center diff because I wanted to match the UE spider diffs I am running in the front and rear.

8mmX16mm bearings are the size...

Well, I read the manual and cannot seem to find the parts on nitrohouse. Ofna #18987 appears to be the assembly that is required.

Let me know if you figure it out or if you find a supplier for Ofna part number 18987.

suicideneil 02.17.2008 12:32 PM

Thats okay, answers my questions. I was just somewhat scared by the $100+ price tag on some of those diffs....

I'll see if I can find anything on the monsterpirate center.

Thanks Neil...by the way...I found my hyper diff on ebay for $34!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!new in box. There are still lots of them available. I also found a set of Spider diffs (front & rear) for $55 each. Wish I would have found them before I bought the UE spiders. Oh well, I am saving them for my next build.

Serum 02.17.2008 06:01 PM

Carbon is quite tough as it is;

I managed to break a CF lower tray on the gmaxx though; but that was with the 2.5mm thickness. This plate is 3.6mm thick, i hope for the best.

Usually if carbon breaks, aluminum is deformed beyond repair. i was still able to use it though, it was just a crack on one of the bridges.

Sorry dude...I have been crazy busy and I forgot! PM me if you want specifics....it is a sweet setup...and it is going to be even better when Mike releases the slipper diff. If Mike asks, the drive shafts are 88mm and 130mm long (tip to tip). The pin to pin length is about four to five mm shorter.

All we need now is a direct drive unit for the gorilla chassis:whistle:.

It is a very solid mount. I am very happy with the purchase.

_paralyzed_ 02.20.2008 11:56 PM

very nice work, i can't wait to get this unit and show off my project.... that's a killer truck, love the flextek's:yes:

ssspconcepts 02.21.2008 03:45 PM

Here are some more close-ups. I bought two of these units from Mike and I am still waiting for the drive shafts for this one to be delivered. Anyway, I put an Ofna CRT center diff with Kyosho spur in this unit.

suicideneil 02.21.2008 05:37 PM

That really is a thing of beauty. Had a thought- it would be entirely possible I reckon to use the modified stubaxles as the output shafts on the center diff, then you could use 3.3spec driveshafts for the centershafts. Plastic I know, but it would be a nice temporary solution maybe...

tashpop 02.22.2008 05:42 AM

has there been any mention on price for one of these kits yet or did i miss it. i know thats for mike to chime in on, but maybe he already gave a price on the production units.

I know what I paid...it was very reasonable considering the kit came with the mount and two drive shafts. Who knows, he may slightly increase or decrease the price...I will let Mike broadcast the price...its not for me to say.

_paralyzed_ 02.22.2008 01:37 PM

I will see what I can do this weekend!

tashpop 02.22.2008 10:17 PM

i didn't expect you to let the cat out of the bag so to speak. i know yours are somewhat of a trial first run sort of thing. i will most likely get some regardless of price within reason. i'll wait, i have enough projects to keep me and my income busy enough.

ssspconcepts 02.27.2008 09:24 PM

Good news...I heard today that the drive shafts are now being made...so for the folks waiting it shouldn't be long now.

Hickoryhead 02.27.2008 10:02 PM

Now your just being mean. showing us all this stuff and telling us to wait for it.

Yeah...I know...Mike has been busy and has a life too...which is prone to all the stuff that you and I could experience on any given day. But I promise you this...it is a nice setup that is worth the asking price.

I cant wait for the slipper diff to be released it will change the whole industry...I hope Mike got a patent...I'd like to see him rewarded for his work and responsiveness to our needs.

suicideneil 02.28.2008 01:11 PM

I dunno, if Mike makes too much money from this stuff he may decide to retire early.... then we'd all be thoroughly buggered!

lincpimp 03.13.2008 10:38 AM

Any updates on when this will be available?

david lamontagn 03.13.2008 04:58 PM

Why Mike don't try to do the same thing to fit the stock revo chassis????
Not all guys hear can spend lot of money on a FLM or G3R chassis.
The majority of people who convert the revo kept the stock chassis.

So please Mike, COULD YOU MAKE A DIRECT DRIVE UNIT FOR THE STOCK REVO CHASSIS????????????

Thank you

I will take one, if not two of these if you make it Mike! And I am sure that others would buy them to. Also while you are at it, something like the tekno battery tray that would fit on the motor side of the chassis. That way we can run a dual pack 4 or 6s battery setup and keep the balance right.

suicideneil 03.13.2008 07:29 PM

Hey David, have you seen this:

Yes i've see this post, and it's about what i'am to do on mine. But if Mike do it, we don't have to spend time to build it:whistle:

maneba 07.29.2008 02:28 PM
