so how has it been going for ya?
|
well I just sold a bud the 2 2s packs I was using a Y cable for and ordered another 4s from yuntong canada. I also ordered up a saddle pack lipo for the b44 (I wanted 2 but he only had one pack left in stock, may he gets another order)
I also have this little factory team 18B with a brushless. I had an 8000 kv motor but just changed to a 6800. it's still stupid fast but at least some throttle control. I have had zero problems with either rc, other than I made a wing for the b44. buddy lainched off my wing with his zx5 and ripped it. he broke a front arm in that collision so I guess the Associated won that round hehe. I broke a shock shaft first week on the b44 impacting with an 8th scale head on. only problems I have had and I run it a lot. the RC8 needs little done other than shimming the center dif and putting some ca on locknuts so they don't fall out. the Golden Horizon steering top plate has worked flawlessly as I have hit a few things pretty hard and not a single problem The B44 has a few mods, the grub screws to hold the front arm pins in is the best long term protection mod. The undertray is a spur saver. I know the ZX5 guys are buying up spurs 3 at a time, yet the way the b44 is sealed up so nice, I have little wear showing. And my pinion looks like new still on the RC8. RCM pinions rock. I saw a Century pinion shred this weekend on an Xray buggy (I lent him an RCM pinion and it fell off. we found it, and it fell off again but was lost to the track gods)... Al should be placing another order soon Mike, he's getting me a new pinion gear hehe... got any 17's in stock? lol |
Cool stuff. I went ahead and ordered the mamba monster from RC Monster since they got that $25 off deal going on. excellent price. Also ordered a 17T and 18T pinion for my conversion when it gets here.
I may pickup an E-Revo. Still trying to decide. |
Here's a couple pics to update the ongoing changes. The first is my home made foam filter. Just a hollowed out foam, and left a lip to go around the motor can, held with a zip tie. I cut slots and some holes for the motor wires. it gets oiled and cleaned to keep crap out.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...8/DSC00060.jpg I also lined the battery tray with velcro. It's more for shock protection of the batteries than anything http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...8/DSC00061.jpg A little velcro helps keep the side impact from hitting the carbon center dif mount and helps stability http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...8/DSC00062.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...8/DSC00063.jpg Then I put velcro on the batteries and also on the back of the esc and battery plugs. After the battery gets plug in, it gets tacked on to the side of the battery. It keeps things from moving around and that should also stop me from getting the battery unplugged again. http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...8/DSC00064.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...8/DSC00065.jpg I didn't get any pics of the steering ackerman I made. I took a bike tool and cut it wih the big carbide discs I have, then heat treated it to harden it. I had to go buy a new titanium nitride drill bit just to get through it hehe. I polished it after with the dremmel a bit. |

btw cool idea with the air filter on the end of the nue motor, and the velcro on the deans plug to hold it inplace under the body |
Just a quick update for those that might be interested.
The RC8 has been doing well. I picked up the cnc ackerman plate, steering rack.... the carbon one busted. I had made one but the cnc one was cheap... I moved some things to get more out of it, namely on power steering. first moving the steering to the back hole on the ackerman helped. I also increased the front castor by moving the 2 blue shims on top towards the front of the car.... I really enjoyed the changes... I now have gone 7k in the center dif and 7k in front, but have only tried it on our micro track so not much to go on until I get on the track... The B44 I just put blue aluminum shock caps on. they are so much nicer than the stock plastic ones. almost zero chance of a cross thread when refilling the shocks and actually easier to bleed... not to mention they just look sweet. I made a hack wing but I have a bunch of wings coming for all the 4wd mods, as the lexan ones are junk I also picked up a T4. But I converted it with the JConcepts J82 kit. Now it's a 1/8 electric 2wd buggy. I love buggies. basically it is a truck with less front ribs and a buggy body. I love the way it drives and it handles the rough track way better than the B44 Here's some pics. first is RC8, J82 and B44. You can see the tire sizes is the same as the 1/10 truck, but a smaller front width. It actually gave the buggy some push over the truck. I was also having troubles with wheelies with the brushless, so I moved the lipo all the way forward. Now I really like this thing. It flies great. and it is really fast. the 15-20 foot wheelies looked cool until I backflipped on the straight with a neu 1.5d losi 10 feet behind me lol... stupid lexan wings suck, did I mention that? http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00076.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00077.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00080.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00081.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00082.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00083.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00084.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00085.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00087.jpg http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/n...2/DSC00088.jpg |
