I have read the link in Brian's signature......about being over and under geared.

So just so i got this straight......under geared = high spur...low pinion
over geared + low spur....high pinion

is that right?

BrianG 04.07.2008 03:56 PM

It's not necessarily specific to a pinion or spur, it's about overall reduction ratio. Tire size even affects gearing (sorta). If your motor speed is fast, but vehicle speed is really slow, then that's undergeared. That can be caused by a spur too big, a pinion too small, tires that are really small, or any combination of these.

are you talking about "roll out ratio"??

http://www.rcuniverse.com/community/gearwizard.cfm

you want the roll out ratio to be as close to 1 as possible right?

How is the side to side weight balance with that huge battery on there?

You can buy one here on RC-Monster.

Great truck, Fore. I was thinking of running the same battery or maybe 2 2 cells at 6400mah in series to have even weight distribution when my ERevo RTR arrives.

Question: How could I run the same battery but not have it so prone to wheelie? Would moving up to a 10xl motor do it?

BrianG 05.13.2008 12:00 PM

Welcome to the forums!

The best way to prevent wheelies is throttle finger control. Or, try increasing the punch control on the ESC for a less aggressive start. Or use a center diff, but that can be tough to tune right.

I have tried all of the suggested methods of keeping the front end down, (gearing up, installing a CD, and increasing punch control in the ESC settings), I have also put some lead fishing weight in the nose, this is fine if you arnt racing (I have used zip ties and shoe goo to install)

fore106 05.13.2008 08:28 PM

Brian is right......finger control is the best way to keep the front end down. I intalled the Monster Mamba the other day and ran it with stock settings just to check it out. I had a hard time NOT flipping over. I increased punch control to 50%....still would wheelie at will.
thats with a center diff. Diffs are 30k/500k/10k. I was flying around the track today.

bottom line is.....its all about throttle control
