2nd, nice job!! thats an awesome result :great:

is the spur gear mod1 pitch? oh, and i dont really want to be a pain , but do you know roughly what the diameter of the fan endbell is, it looks a bit bigger than the motor, and how much length does it add on compared to a non F version?

thanks alot
jordan

Thanks jordan! To answer your questions, yes the spur is mod 1 - it's a Kyosho 44t from RCM. And you're right . . . the end bell is bigger than the standard motors. It's roughly 2" diameter at it's widest point vs 1.56" diameter for a smooth can (not sure the finned diameter). The length is 3-1/8" vs. the typical 2.7" too. Oh, and by the way, the "F" version stands for "finned". This motor is technically a heli motor with a finned can so it's has the F & H designation. The heli motors have this type of end bell with the fan built in.

Oh, and one more thing . . . you're not a pain :mdr:

Hope that helps.

Very nice, like all the carbon, battery hold down looks great

Sower,

Those looks like the Progressive srpings from Reckward Tuning. I have the Extra Hard ones in my BPP truggy and I love them. The rear of my truck is a bit bounce even with 50wt shock oil. Which ones are those in your truck? How do they perform on the track? What kind of shock oil are you using?

[QUOTE=Sower;183537]Thanks Shaun! I'm thrilled with it so far. In fact this last weekend I raced it in a 15 minute main and it performed excellent. There were a lot of people interested when I finished in 2nd place.

As far as a conversion, I don't think it's doable. Here's a link to the specs on the XB8:

And here's the specs on the XT8:

Hay Sower,
Thank you for the information!, it was extremely helpful in determining that it is not possible to perform the conversion without a lot of money!, so I've come to the conclusion that I'll have to buy one.

Thanks again for the great information and great build!..

Thanks alot, that helps heaps :great: Reason i asked is that i'm currently mocking up my centre differential unit, but Neu have taken 9 weeks and still not finished my motor yet. So i'm using the cardboard tube out of a toilet roll, which has the exact dimensions of a 1527 motor, who would have guessed

Oh, and i think the 'F' that i stated stood for fart, as in brain fart  kinda funny that i screwed that up, and i myself have an F/H motor on the way :drunk:.

thanks again
jordan

I believe they are the exact same ones you're running. Got them from Amainhobbies a couple weeks ago. Seem to be working great, but I think I'll be going to the big bore shocks from the 808 soon so it won't really matter.

Oh, and right now I'm using Losi 40wt in the front and 70wt in the rear. It was a little better with 50wt in the rear last time around.

gearing

hi guys,im planning to get an xt8,how do you gear it using neu 1515 1y(2200kv) on 4s lipo?i know about the speed calculator but i dont know the ratios of the xt8.thanks

Sower 07.02.2008 11:28 AM

Have you tried the speed calculator yet? If not, here is the link:

http://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_top_speed.html

Remember though, the XT8 has a 10t pinion in the diffs so it's 43/10 - not 43/13 like many others. And one other thing to keep in mind is how you plan on using it. Are you looking for a good racing setup? If so, what type of track will you be on - tight and short or long and wide open?

cornolio 07.02.2008 11:49 AM

thanks.i do know about the speed calculator, its one of the coolest stuff on the net:smile:.i just needed to know the diff ratio.im just looking to be a tad faster than the nitros, probably 38-39mph,right.great truck by the way.made me want to get one myself.i read somewhere that a kyosho spur will fit without mods, can u confirm this?

Sower 07.02.2008 11:51 AM

Yep, mine has the 44t Kyosho. You really don't have to do much to it either - just file the holes a tiny bit. You'll see - it's really easy.
