Mister-T 04.19.2008 08:07 AM

My bad, I never go in general section :x
Better keep this post for future brushless E-revo ? :yipi:

Why not an aluminium chassis for this e-revo, and just the batterie box could be in plastic.

And for the batterie size, they don't tell anything about this.
Is a pair of 3s, 5000mAh will fit in it?

http://www.traxxas.com/products/elec...05-intro13.htm
not exactly enough info but it does say they tested it with brushless and 6s.

david lamontagn 04.19.2008 08:33 AM

Yes i've see it, but don't know about the 3s pack they use. If we can just put a pair of 3s, 3000mAh, that,s not enough. A pair of 4350 or 5000mAh is a minimum:whistle:

rhylsadar 04.19.2008 08:45 AM

DANG!
i already like it. almost finished my converted revo. but who cares.

Wow that looks great!

Jbreddawg 04.19.2008 09:18 AM

Well finally !! We all knew it was only a matter of time.
Still doesn't satisfy my building/creative needs when you can just cut the check and have one. I need to BUILD it /MODIFY it /CREATE it !! :mdr:

Arct1k 04.19.2008 09:21 AM

I agree - They battery trays look a bit limiting....

Building and customising is 80% of the fun - If we all wanted a stock machine where would the fun be...

Agree that it seems to be missing lots of the extras but they may do an e-platinum.

This looks like a show stealer for rcx that will be delivered in the summer.

Jbreddawg 04.19.2008 09:28 AM

Well they have to keep it simple so they can sell hopups later to make more money !!

TexasSP 04.19.2008 10:02 AM

It looks good, I just wish they had used BL from the get go.

A roller would be wonderful, because as was said, the radio, esc, and motors will be the first thing to go. I Really think Traxxas needs to work out something with Futaba or Airtronics to put some real radios in there more expensive RTR models.

sikeston34m 04.19.2008 10:52 AM

That appears to be the same exact transmission as the new E maxx has.

Looks good though. I want one! LOL

yah but i am making mine to race so for me i think i am going to try and get the one on ebay the gr2 and the tranny for it:yes:

JThiessen 04.19.2008 11:30 AM

The value of half my garage just went into recession! I'm stoked. I was just about ready to pull the trigger on a new EMaxx, but now I'll wait.

Personally, I prefer the plastic. It bends and flex's better than the aluminum, and you shouldnt have as many issues with screws. Generally speaking, IMHO, Aluminum is for bling.

Yes, that motor setup looks cheesy, but its what they had to do to get it to fit. I dont know why anyone on here would bitch too much about it, since we will all be ditching the motors.

E-Revonut 04.19.2008 11:40 AM

I will prolly use the stock motors/esc until they die or the MMM combos come out. But the stock arrangement is to keep the CG as low as possible. As for the plastic chassis they seem to be pretty durable on the E-maxx and this looks even stronger with the center being fully closed in on the bottom. Plus no worries of the antenae touching any metal chassis parts and causing problems.

From what I saw in the details, they changed the center skid design to support the chassis.

On another note.... I wonder if the new tranny can accept a finned Neu motor. The single bl pic they had showed a smooth can motor. I hope they have enough clearance to mount a finned motor on there without rubbing against the chassis.

jnev 04.19.2008 01:11 PM

This got me so much more excited for RCX tomorrow. Not only do I get to see the E-Revo, but also the MMM, and new Traxxas slash. Hopefully lots more as well. Any specific pictures you want of the E-Revo? I'll try to find out what size batteries it will fit...

E-Revonut 04.19.2008 01:13 PM

How about what gears it will be using. Mod1 or 32p as well as if the tranny ratio is the same as the new E-maxx.

Could you try and find out how much the E Revo is going to cost and when it will be on shelves.

Thanks and have a good one!

i will be at rc x to!!!!

skellyo 04.19.2008 01:23 PM

Dadgummit...just when I thought my wallet would only be hit with the cost of a slash. I'm gonna have to start saving up my per diem on my next few business trips for this thing.

rschoi_75 04.19.2008 01:23 PM

jnev, can you check to see how much room there is for motor clearance? And how the tranny is bolted onto the chassis as well.

Wheelbase might only be .4 bigger but overall length is quite a bit more

BlackedOutREVO 04.19.2008 03:50 PM

I want one, but have no money lol

jnev, def see how big of packs it will take, and maybe steal one for me? =P

I think it's much longer because of the wing.. 3.3 doesn't have wing right? If you compare erevo and the platinum ( 572mm), then the difference in the length is not that much..but still its longer

captain harlock 04.19.2008 04:31 PM

Such a thing was predictable.

Electric Dave 04.19.2008 05:10 PM

Don't get me wrong, I'm VERY happy that the E-Revo has come out. I hope it ushers in a new wave of Electric racing at modern tracks. Personally however I'm a bit disappointed. I'd like to see a "Platinum" version which has all the hop-ups that the Platinum does. As it stands, I think I'm still going to convert a platinum rather than breaking all the parts on the E-Revo first.

BrianG 04.19.2008 08:06 PM

I'm a little disappointed too. They already have an MT with dual Titans, time for Traxxas to release a RTR brushless Revo with all the 'fixins right out of the box. I do like the nice battery trays though.

I too think that a converted vehicle is more fun and unique. Still, it's nice to see Traxxas isn't deaf...

HelicopterPilot 04.19.2008 08:16 PM

I'll probably wait for the "platinum" ERevo since I'd plan to race it. I don't want to buy an E-Revo and have to hop it all up, especially if traxxas decides to release a racier version.

On the note of releasing a racer version of the E revo, that would be great for bringing back electric mt racing. I can see an fully upgraded E Revo ,but with no ESC, Motor and Radio. That way we could drop whatever we want.

I think this will answer your second question:

lincpimp 04.19.2008 08:50 PM

Hmmm, I wonder when Sike will be selling off the chassis with the tranny?

Jbreddawg 04.19.2008 08:54 PM

Wonder how many parts from the revo will bolt up to this new chassis ? Maybe just buy the chassis seperatly and swap everything over and have an e-revo ? Atleast you can upgrade to the newer tranny at the same time !

skellyo 04.19.2008 09:40 PM

Just found this pic of the MMM in the new E-Revo:

I'll bet its like the T and E Maxx. The front and rear are the same, but everything in the middle is different. I'm sure the nitro revo front and rear ends will bolt straigt to the E chassis. They would be silly to change it and have to sets of parts.

Do you want one?

The more I look at this new chassis design, the more I like it.

It gives me..........ummmmmmmm..............I dears!

LOL

suicideneil 04.19.2008 09:55 PM

Oh dear God no, no , nooooooooo..................

I like the Erevo though, just a shame about the battery trays limiting the size of the batts you can fit, but a little Dremel surgery should fix that.

jhautz 04.19.2008 09:58 PM

Dont worry. If it really is a problem the aftermarket companies will fix it in a jiffy. They always do.

skellyo 04.19.2008 10:15 PM

Some more pics...and vids from a Traxxas forum guy:

TexasSP 04.19.2008 10:41 PM

I have to say the with the Mamba Monster in their, the appeal level goes way up!

I really like the body, very slick. It's nice to see something different.

Some other things I noticed is they are using the better 2075 servos instead of the 2055's, to bad they aren't MG though. I would have liked to have seen it with tires other than the talons as I have never been fond of them.

VintageMA 04.20.2008 01:42 AM

Found this video on youtube from rcx:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=10nA2sSpkZc

Said the end of May. Towards the end of the video they ave the brushless "concept" version - you can hear the rep saying that there are no plans to make it as production.

plettenbergs 04.20.2008 05:20 PM

very nice!

i finally found out what a MMM is!...i wish i was at RCX this weekend!
