The black one is pre-production, and the green is much closer to what the production motor will look like. That is, the production motor will be green like that.

revo guy 04.20.2008 08:42 PM

it would be a good idea to make the motor green so you could easily tell quickly if it is a real neu or castle neu

MTBikerTim 04.20.2008 08:46 PM

I'd prefer the black personally but if it goes good all will quickly be forgotten.

Arct1k 04.20.2008 09:10 PM

Personally I'm going to support a distributer and not buy direct - I'll end up waiting two weeks more but supporting good service in the long run pays off - I hope more people do the same...

gixxer 04.20.2008 09:11 PM

personally I dont care what color they make it. just get them out so I can buy one.

magman 04.20.2008 09:19 PM

I agree w/ you Arct1K..I have waited this long for the mmm, Mike has been v/ good to me so I will be happy to wait 2 more weeks

team3six 04.20.2008 10:27 PM

Where did you find the pics of the green one?

Well, First off it wasnt photgraphically or otherwise altered. That is how it came. If you notice there are 2 traxxas RC's it is in. The black one is in the new E-REVO and the Green one is in the new E-MAXX. OK, so this is how I keep coming up with the photos and Vids I find on it. Being the painter I am part of many RC websites. Plus that and I like to dabble in all different forms of RC. Its cool to see what the others are doing outside the box. I figure that since this week was the RCX show, You know there was many people taking camera's and whatnot and getting pics and Vids. I love this site and to be honest RC Monster rocks in the Electric scene. max Amps website can take a long walk on a short pire for all I care. But, I have no problem sorting out and showing what else I can find on this. It is obvious that a whole lot of us are awaiting this release. But I just so happen to be the guy who will wait for the production set to come out rather then settle fior the ESC just to satisfy my IDE! Bottom line, I can not believe that out of the half a dozen or more RC monster members, Not one person got the low down or talked face to face about the whens, hows, and whatsup with this. Yet it is all over the web on other sites. Funny thing is, This is being talked about on other websites that are Nitro websites more than here.:surprised:
I personally would like to really know first hand if in fact this Green motor is the production motor to be released and when it will be released as the whole set. But if I find something else pertaining to the Mamba Monster. Ill be sure to drop it here.

Oh yeah, and I am wondering with these sitting in the Traxxas RC's Is this perhaps the begining of Traxxas and Mamba joining forces selling this as a full on RTR deal?

BlackedOutREVO 04.20.2008 10:50 PM

Nice!

I still am trying to find pics of general stuff at RCX LOL, still havent found anything

jnev 04.20.2008 11:47 PM

The green one is the one supposed to be sold. And the combo will be out in about 1 to 2 months from what the CC reps said. The price would be just way too high for CC to combine with Traxxas and sell it all as a rtr. The shaft was also REALLY hard to turn , so I can bet that it will be one super torque monster.

Jammin 04.21.2008 01:01 PM

are they going to come with wires?

Shark413 04.21.2008 01:04 PM

The Castle reps I talked to at the show said the MM ESC will be out in two weeks, but the motor isn't ready yet and will come out later (TBA).

phatmonk 04.22.2008 08:13 PM

Does the MMM have the usb hookup?Thats one of the best features of the MM.

BrianG 04.22.2008 08:30 PM

I believe it will not have the built-in USB port, but rather programmable via Castle Link. Should have the same level of programmability though, just a different connection method.

SypderFungus 04.22.2008 09:29 PM

Brian is correct. It will not have a USB port. You will need to use a CastleLink, which i just confirmed is included with the Monster.

How'd you confirm that?

DRIFT_BUGGY 04.22.2008 10:10 PM

So will the link come with the esc?

SypderFungus 04.22.2008 11:02 PM

G'day Mates,
I just got an email reply from a Castle Product Specialist (not Joe though) that said
"The Mamba Monster Max will include the full Castle Link which will be no different than the link you can buy separately."

Sweet just checking. Are you going to order an MMM from castle? I've been debating whether to e-mail them or just wait for the MMM to appear on their site. I probably should just e-mail them.

Well, I cant decide on a motor for my Revo conversion. Im thinking about waiting for the combo or getting a Medusa.
One concern i have about the combo is the pricing. A couple of weeks ago Patrick said the MMM would be 170 and the combo 300ish. Well as youve heard, the MMM is 180. So that could mean that the combo might be closer to 400 than i'd like.
Im in no real rush since i just started the conversion and im still waiting for my parts to come in.

What to do... lower KV motor and higher voltage (Medusa) or higher KV and lower volts (CC/Neu)?!?!?

jhautz 04.23.2008 12:11 AM

Anyone confim if they are planning to offer a lower kv motor than just the 2200kv version? From evrything I have heard so far its just a 2200kv now. Not ideal for 6s IMO.

But... If they did all of their testing on a 2200kv motor on 6s and the MMM can still handle it then this should be a seriuos powerhouse controller. Id still like to see motor offerings in the 2000kv and 1700kv ranges though.

Me too, the 2200 kv motor will be great for 4s setups, like an emaxx with a pair of trakpower lipos, or similar. The 1700kv would be great for 6s and the 2000kv for 5s.

I am sure that they will expand their motor lineup, they do have a factory setup to make the motors, right? Somewhere in China? If so it would make sense to expand their product lineup.

MustGoFaster 04.23.2008 12:40 AM

Unless something has changed, the plan was to release the 2200kv version first (approx. summer 2008) and then the other motors later.

MTBikerTim 04.23.2008 12:42 AM

One of the interviews from RCX said that the 2200kv was for buggies truggies and 1/10th MTs but there would be a LONGER :surprised: motor for 1/8th MTs

Link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b8BGbAQ7sU

gixxer 04.23.2008 01:05 AM

I also would prefer something in the 1700kv range. Right now I am just happy that the esc is about to be released though. I will worry about the motor once the esc gets here.

MTBikerTim 04.23.2008 01:46 AM

I actually wouldn't mind a bigger/lower kv motor for the 1/8th MT but also a smaller motor for the 1/8th buggy for runtime. I can always just buy a neu though.

gixxer 04.23.2008 02:05 AM

sad thing is I have sold all my neu's over the winter. only motor I have left is a 12xl feigao.

That is very sad.

gixxer 04.23.2008 04:01 AM

Its alright because an indoor electric track opened up near me. I have been running 10th scale electric and really liking it.

I Will probably even sell off my 8th scale buggy.

DRIFT_BUGGY 04.23.2008 04:05 AM

I would love for a indoor track to open here. What 4wd buggy you going to run?

The cars I am currently running are listed in my sig. For 4wd I run a b44 but lately I have mainly been running the kyosho rb5 and really liking that car. I will probably keep one 8th scale and use that for the house or messing around at the outdoor track.

They said that the website will be up and running in about 1 week and you can ONLY PREORDER AT THIS STAGE BY PHONE ONLY

johnrobholmes 04.23.2008 05:55 PM

Mike should be putting some up for preorder as well. Last I talked to him he is slated to get them on the first production run.

Arct1k 04.23.2008 05:57 PM

And there is respect! A vendor pushing sales to RCM... :)

johnrobholmes 04.23.2008 10:30 PM

He has done a ton for the 1/8th scale conversion crowd. HE is what has made it possible and I can't think of a better place to buy them.
