Hmm 30K max with 20-25% margin of safety means around 37K max or so. So I guess I will try to achieve 40K then...hehe.

jzemaxx 05.03.2008 03:59 PM

Also according to Flymda, the one motor I was looking at is rated at 172 amps max, and with a 12S input voltage of around 44.4V's that is around 7640 watts!!!.....geezzz. That thing ought to haul some a$$ with the right gearing. Definitely will need the 250 amp SHV 20S controller for it. Guess I need to wait till CC releases it in July.

There are a few controllers out now that will handle that. The Schulze 40.160, Spin200 and Spin300. The Schulze 40.300 will be just too big and I think finding a place for it to fit will be difficult. With 20S by the way, you won't need all those AMPs though. The SHV 110 will put out 7000 or so watts. If Castle can indeed modify them for 160A or so you should be fine. The AMP draw will also depend on the gearing you'll go for. Who knows, you might reach over 100mph with only 4000-5000 watts.

jzemaxx 05.03.2008 04:59 PM

Hmm hard to tell. I am probably close now to 4000 watts with my MMT and am no where near 100mph. Of course drag is alot more though since the truck is much higher off the ground.

I'm using BrianG's speed calculator and the minimun speed I'm coming up with is 60+ mph. The only way to find out is to actually do one .

jzemaxx 05.03.2008 06:24 PM

Yeah probably so.

Yep, just like cheerleaders!

The 1/5 scale cars look great. Is there a good place to find rollers? Or just search the various forums. I remember a 1/5 scale specific forum, can't remember the name now...

I'm trying to get the place (s) that makes them to send me one so I can convert it, but sometimes it's just frustating dealing with some companies in Asia. There are a few in ebay that are somewhat cheap.

jzemaxx 05.03.2008 11:44 PM

I spoke to the guys that offer the car I posted pics about if I get any info I will let you know.

jzemaxx 05.06.2008 09:39 PM

Lutach, do you know of anybody that has done a HPI 5B baja BL conversion??? I think one of those would be awesome...

Never seen one. I would love to see one though. I think one of those clones going for around $400 would do a nice BL Baja. Actually I think Finedesign has a BL Baja http://www.finedesignrc.com/ct-hpi-hotbodies.asp. They should've made some custom parts to make the BL conversion better.

Guys, you both are talking my language here. I have no desire to get one over 60 or so but I have been itching for a 5th scale electric for years.

Lutach, all of these recent posts have me excited. If I can see that it can be done reasonably, I will definitely get into this. Now if only these 12s controllers can come about, we may have something. I would either go F1 or touring, I really don't want a 5th scale monster truck. I have been contemplating a DM-1 Pro conversion, I just want something bigger.

The car you and JZ keep referencing, do you have any links to it? Thanks.

Here is a company that makes the 4x4: http://www.mcdracing.com/
I can get them from Asia at a very good price, but I'm trying to get a sample first before I plunge into it. The DM-1 is a very nice vehicle and has plenty of space for a nice 12S set up. If I do get a sample, I will go custom with it. I found a company that can do a very strong and light weight carbon fiber chassis.

jzemaxx 05.07.2008 12:00 AM

This one is the one I'm looking at.....made by FS

The FS Racing is very nicely priced, but I don't see any info on the 4WD in FS's website. I have spoken with a few companies that claims they are the manufacturer of them. I'll wait and see which one will send me a sample first to find out .

jzemaxx 05.07.2008 12:12 AM

Its an awesome looking car and looks like it has TONS of room. I have a Neu 2215 on its way for something that I will have to figure out soon...lol.

I will keep buggin the places to see if they can send me one. I have basically all the electronics ready to go into one. I even told the companies I would send them the chassis and parts required to make the conversion after I had done it.

I'm planning on going with one of my Spin200, a Lehner 2250 and 10S2P A123 for the time being.

Edit: I guess if that one guy went 90+mph with a 2240, I should be easily able to get 50-60mph just for fun.

Yeah, easily. I'm shooting for 100+mph setup, but will back it down to 65 or so if I do any road course racing.

jzemaxx 05.07.2008 12:33 AM

What's a 2250 rated at amp draw and watts???

The Neu is rated 172amp max and I plan to run 12S...so average voltage around 44.4 volts, means about 7600+ watts!!!

TexasSP 05.07.2008 12:34 AM

Lutach, have you done a DM-1 conversion?

The gas cars would be playing catching up. I was watching some videos of some MCDs in youtube. The gas engine seems to struggle to get it up to speed. One video, it seemed like it was going to stall.

In Lehner's website they tested one up to 150A, 33V, 4600+ Watts, 93.4% Eff. http://www.lehner-motoren.com/motord...250-11.33V.xls. I wonder how they got 300A for this one http://www.lehner-motoren.com/motord...6%20HA.24V.xls.

Not yet. I have a magazine with the DM-1 being reviewed and man the things that comes in my head are just too scary.

If I had a BL 1/5 scale, I would gladly take a couple days off and go there to show them what a tame BL 1/5 scale would do .

jzemaxx 05.07.2008 12:57 AM

Yeah, this weekend it looks like some Nitro guys want to come out and run some top end runs. They have no idea how fast our trucks are running. All I told them is , it should be a good race.....lol. Poor guys..... Also the camera will be there!!!...hehe

They'll be surprised. A lot of the guys around my area drive nitro and they go on & on telling people how fast the nitros are. Well, I raced them one weekend and the excuses took place afterwards. I'm not a good racer at all. It's just the power of BL that made me look good . I also made a few $$$$. Funny thing is, I did the same down in Florida.

jzemaxx 05.07.2008 01:15 AM

Yeah...I figured it will be funny to see a nitro truck just get walked hard by a big BL XTM...lol. I can't wait to get the buggy perfected....it should be fun to watch it stomp the nitro buggies coming around yappin about how fast they are....hehe.

I can't wait to see the video. Tell them to come in and tell us all how bad it was . I promise we will be nice .

jzemaxx 05.07.2008 01:24 AM

Lol, doubt they will be in the mood after the whoopin. More then likely you will just hear from them selling their nitros...hehe

lutach 05.07.2008 01:33 AM

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

jzemaxx 05.07.2008 12:44 PM
