Right now I am leaning toward the 8xl, as it is between the 7/9 (im good at this math thing!) I figure this way I should have a pretty smooth motor.
Country, what made you decide on the 9xl after trying the other motors? I am about to the point of buying all 3 and selling the two I dont want! This is pretty ridiculous trying to pick a darn motor! At least this way ^^ I could give advice to others that are in the same pickle I am. (or maybe I am the only insane person in here that spends 3 weeks deciding on a motor!?!) |
No you not insane. Just trying to find the right one. I don't know exactly why. I tried the 7xl first. I messed my motor up in high speed crash. MIP I got the 14 L I like the run time of that. It did a lot better than my brother 8l as far as run time and smooth ness. I figured the xl version would do the same. I was right. I get another controller. I may try 20 -24 cells on my 9xl. I want to see what it has got. I sorry if I confused you. I think you will be happy with any of the three though.

I was kind of hoping the 8xl had a lower cell limit. Looks like 7xl is 16, 8xl and 9xl are 18 cells? I wish the 8xl had a 16 limit too, because that would mean I could get more power from my 12-14 cells.

Try it first roost. Got a tight slipper and heavy trigger finger you will flipping the truck over a lot.

Personally, I don't think the HV-Maxx is even comparable to the XL series.... It's just not powerful enough.... :)
|
I used to use the the HV-Maxx, and Serum, Dafni, and Coolhandcountry recommended the 7xl over the 9L I was originally hearing was the typical config with the 9918/9920. Since the 9920 was not in stock, I ended up with the MGM160. I don't know about the controller versus the 9920, but what I do know is that the 7xl/MGM160 shreads the HV-Maxx. I had horrible luck with the HV for whatever reason. If you have seen some of the other threads around here, I'm sure nbcaznmaster would help you test out the different motors. You'd just need to send a setup to him. :p
As far as cogging goes, the 7xl/MGM160 is just as smooth as the HV was. I enjoy walking the GMaxx up the curb with Moab 40 tires just as well as my Revo. GPS also had it clocked at 36MPH on pavement. |
ya I am way beyond the hv-maxx at this point. I need power!
MT-enthusiast, what kind of run times do you get with the mgm160/7xl combo? on how many cells? |
I use 14 cell GP3300s and 3700s. The run times vary depending on run style of course. I've had run times as short as 8 minutes bashing hard and probably about 20 (got lost in the moment) just curb crawling etc. I can get actuals in a couple days if you want. I haven't run 16 cells because I'd have to get a new charger which isn't doable for the moment.

I started off with 6cell packs. I put 2 on one side and one on the other. 18cells charged with intelli peak twin
