yeah thats the thing, i took another look and it wouldnt even fit lol cause theres no holes in the bulkhead for it to go in and if there was you wouldnt be able to get it in anyway cause you cant move the bulkhead lol.

What oil should i use in the 8 spyder diffs? I have some 300,000wt silicone diff oil lol. i just bash, and i dont want the diff to give all the power to the wheel with no traction to easily cause i like to hill climb and stuff. so will 300,000 be ok? I also have 5,000wt and 7,000wt but i think that will be to thin?

Sneeck 10.27.2005 11:16 AM

Why in the world did you buy 8 spyder's which you are going to lock up with 300.000 wt oil? That's a shame.

But if you want an awnser, yes, that will work fine for a basher/ hill climber. Allthough you could of saved 200$ and lock the stocker's w/ a spool or heavy oil.

Why the Ice? I've heard much better thing's about it over the triton. I'm not very positive about charging 2 pack's in serie at once without false peaking. But's that's just me. Both are great charger's.

Gustav 10.27.2005 01:08 PM

It'll be a hand full to drive with the diffs locked that much.100wt would be enough to stop it diffing out too easily,30 to 60 wt will give you alot more steering and make it alot more forgiving to drive with that kind of power, you need diffs to be diffs,or you'll be struggling to lay down power without it getting all squirmy(technical term).

Sneeck 10.27.2005 01:14 PM

Ì'm using 7k front and 5k rear, work's awesome.

Serum 10.27.2005 01:19 PM

the oil has got more impact on the 8 spiders than on the 6 spiders too. 300K would be nice to lock out a centerdiff, not for bashing.. 30-50K is pretty extreme allready..

Basketti 10.27.2005 04:56 PM

Yeah i supose that is a waste of money if i use the 300,000 lol! ok so 7k in the front and 5k in the rear then :) How come thicker in the front and thiner in the rear? I have a locker in my parts bin and robinson racing pinion and ring gear so if i want a locker i'll use that.

Sneeck 10.28.2005 12:58 AM

Most people use 7k front 5k rear for the first time, infact it's recommanded in the manual. Why I don't know but it work's.

With a brushless motor and thin oil it's hard to notice a difference, there is so much torque that thin oil ain't gonna do much. Unless you really want to hill climb i'd put 10k front and rear, but I have no idea how this would affect the truck's handeling. One thing to keep in mind, the heavier the oil, the larger your turning circle would be.

coolhandcountry 10.28.2005 08:36 AM

I can say that the size tire you run makes a difference to. The bigger tire has more leverage over the diff oil. I like the 5 k with small tire but wish I had more for the bigger tires.

Basketti 10.28.2005 05:35 PM

oh ok i run both 40 series and normal size wheels, i'll try 7k front and rear and see how that goes.

coolhandcountry 10.28.2005 05:52 PM

I run the 6 spyder kit. If what serum say is true about the 8 spyder gear set. Which makes sense in every way. The 7k should be good really. Have to let me know on this. that away I know what I need to change over to.

Basketti 11.01.2005 09:02 PM

what shock oil wt shock i put in my msr5 shocks? i have some 45wt will that be good?

squeeforever 11.01.2005 09:50 PM

are you running all 8?

Basketti 11.01.2005 09:51 PM

yeah all 8.

coolhandcountry 11.01.2005 09:59 PM

I run 50 weight with 8 shocks. works out good for me. I have ue shocks though.

Basketti 11.01.2005 10:06 PM

is there a big difference between 45 and 50wt?

coolhandcountry 11.01.2005 10:11 PM

I don't think it is a great deal of difference. I run 18 cells on mine as well. I think the 45 should be good as long as the holes in your shock pistons are not to big.

squeeforever 11.01.2005 10:13 PM

i you race you would probable be able to tell the difference. but otherwise i dont think so. also, i would try the 45. the bigger ue shocks require heavier oil.

Basketti 11.01.2005 10:19 PM

cool thanks guys. There are two holes in the pistons about 1mm diametre each

Basketti 11.01.2005 10:56 PM

I just filled two shocks and they seem a bit springy. I found some kyosho #800 shock oil so i might use that aswell. I think i'll leave the two i have done and use one on each side at the front and i'll do another two shocks with the 45wt oil but put the one hole piston in and use them for the back, then i'll do the remaining 4 shocks with the kyosho oil but put the 3 hole pistons in cause that oil is quite thick. i'll see how that goes lol.

squeeforever 11.01.2005 10:59 PM

what kind of springs are you using? firm? soft?

Basketti 11.02.2005 01:25 AM

Im using the ones that came with the shocks, they seem pretty firm. The one i have filled with the one hole piston feel a bit better, they arent so springy. i'll have to wait till i put them on the truck to see if they are ok.

Basketti 11.05.2005 04:09 AM

I got my supermaxx 8 spyder diffs today. they fit PERFECTLY in the flm bulkless. I put that in then i got the arms on it and the shock tower and skid plate. All i need now is some piviot balls and caps then when i get the chassis and servo saver i can put it all together.

Basketti 11.14.2005 05:00 AM

shocks are way to soft lol, im gonna get some 70 and 80wt oil so that its nice and firm for jumps. Im gonna make an order from tower and want to know what spur i should get, im not gonna lock it into second so i'll have both gears. Im probably gonna get a 8xl or 9xl, it will be running on 8 cell ib3800 packs and also a couple of 7cell gp3300 packs. I would like it to reach around 40+mph, in second gear of course lol. Thanks for any help:)

squeeforever 11.14.2005 02:18 PM

what kind of slipper are you running? stock? i would get the strobe with that much power. the only disadvantage is only be able to run mod 1 pinions and a 51 tooth spur but mod 1 is alot stronger.

Basketti 11.14.2005 11:09 PM

yeah i was wondering if i should get that, might aswell while i have some money. so all i need to convert to the strobe slipper is, the strobe slipper, the ofna spur, do you need that sprong thingy? is that all? and it just goes straight in?

squeeforever 11.14.2005 11:15 PM

the strobe slipper, ofna spur and mod 1 pinions is all you really need but i would also get the sprong. it ensures equal pressure on the pads unlike the stock spring.

Basketti 11.14.2005 11:30 PM

ok cool, thanks.

Hey, Is that a mud hog or what :L: Looks like you have some damage. Did you send that A-arm back for replacement? What is that leaking out of your hybrids?? :W: I like the way you set it up it's a nice truck. How are the stock motors runing on top of all that aluminum?? I am going to run mine for awhile, I might preorder one of those deals Mike is running. Anyway I like your truck but it needs a bath :p :L:

Basketti 12.31.2005 11:14 PM

lol yeah i saw some thick, dry mud and i couldnt resist lol, it was mainly just the tires that got dirty. I just remembered i had to send a pic of the flm arm to mike, so i will be doing that soon. I put normal grease in the hybrids so i think thats leaking out a little bit cause the dirt always gets stuck there. The stock motors are actually doing heaps better than i thought, i can pull wheelies with the big joes on! and it has good acceleration. I think i'll give it a good brush down with a paint brush lol i might take it apart and just check everything is ok. My dog likes to play with it, hes not scared of it, he tries to bite it and kill it lol. I've got to be careful cause he tries to get it its way so that it hits him and flips over or he'll just jump on it lol. It weights about 11 1/2 lbs so i dont want to hit his legs.

looks like you had fun in the mud. there is no mud where i live just clay. my dog is afraid of my truck(100lb dog is afraid of a 10lb truck) i have ran over my little brother though. he fell flat on his face lol.

mmdooley 12.31.2005 11:32 PM

LOL , sounds like you been having some real fun. About the hybrids thats what I am going to put in mine (grease) Mike said it dont take alot just enough to cover the gears, maybe you got to much? but it's better safe than sorry. What CVD's are you running?? Mine fit but if I let the A-arm all the way down (with out the shock) it comes out right to the edge. I am afriad when I get air they will fall out or does the shocks keep that from happening?? I don't know what kind they are.

Basketti 12.31.2005 11:46 PM

@bos 302: you hit your brother! lol. I've hit my leg lmao but it was really slow but it still hurt!

@dooley: I think i did put to much grease in then cause i filled up the whole thing LOL. I'm running mip cvds. if there are no shocks mine would fall out to, just lift your truck up and see if they can come lose, if they cant your fine.

mmdooley 12.31.2005 11:58 PM

Thanks, Do you know how to get a glued tire off a bad rim without tearing up the tire?? I got this posted but no answer yet.

he was fine but the skid plate cut him pretty good(there was blood on the skidplate)

Basketti 01.02.2006 02:23 AM

OUCH!! sounds nasty! Thats why i dont take my truck to parks when theres lots of little kids around cause its like a little kid magnet lol....."WOW, how fast does it go?"...."Did you get it for christmas?"...."I bet i can catch it"......"ooooooo aaaaaaa"...."Can i have a turn, i wont break it" lol next thing you know all the kids are chasing it and your trying not to hit any of them lol.

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 01.02.2006 05:53 AM

Nice truck Basketti, love the Camino body (and the big block with the blower popping out of the hood.)
