This is excellent news Patrick! Now I can get my Rustler to WOT without worry

e-mikey 09.26.2008 04:30 PM

I was told one of the issues had to do with the beep every 20 sec.

Patrick

Awesome news. My version 1 is still running fine but I would like the external plugs so I will eventually (probably when we start getting snow and I am done with outdoors for the winter) send mine in.

Once again great service.

BrianG 09.26.2008 05:53 PM

I heard it was something to do with a combination of planetary alignment, solar flares, and insect droppings...

I heard the MMM downful was the same people who hide the alien's from us in the desert! :surprised:

tc3_racer_001 09.26.2008 06:39 PM

2 things. one: id prefer a solid soldered connection for the wires, but having them detachable makes taking off the case easier (hopefully that wont have to happen with V3!!!

also i dunno about everyone else but the first thing i did was take the bottom sticker off, so i could velcro + cable tie it down...

2: whats going to happen regarding the warranty? 12 months is slowly creeping by for some (a non issue for me )

in general, if something is replaced out of warranty (or in for that matter) is there another 12 months garentee added from the repair date?

thanks and sorry for a the questions!!

V3 will have the battery wires soldered to the board, but the motor side will still be the 6.5mm surface connectors.

2. Warranty shmarranty. (LOL!) We will update or replace (at our discretion) any V2 -- inside or outside of warranty. V1s will be replaced.

Even mine? It's "slightly" modified. Actually, I want to keep mine and am shooting for the longest running V1 award.

Patrick, any decisions made about our previous PMs?

hemiblas 09.26.2008 11:58 PM

I know I will be happy to get mine. I cant wait for the motors too. Right now I have so many fans and wires in my truck it looks like one of those 10 fan evap coolers in a freezer. The mamba and Castle motor will be such a nice clean install I cant wait.

Brian G can call me crazy, but those fans are the only thing keeping that Feigao motor from melting. Neil calls it the spinning toaster of death and he is not kidding.

BrianG 09.27.2008 12:33 AM

hootie7159 09.27.2008 03:41 AM

BrianG....i got one of my V1's from mike from his first batch of orders....think it arrived sometime in early May?....anyways its still going strong (with a few mods of course :) i think i'm right there with you in terms of MMM longevity...lets hope we didn't just jinx them....

So Thomas at Castle says.

Mister-T 09.27.2008 03:28 PM

My bad.
It's okay :), the way you said it "i was told" was very rumor alike, If you've got a good information then it's better to be accurate instead of leaving the doubt.

Rumors is the one of the very reason that Mr Delcastillo wasn't willing to post here ...

e-mikey 09.27.2008 11:04 PM

Yeah I couldn't believe that he said the beeps were causing problems myself, I can appreciate your skepticism.

jayjay283 09.28.2008 12:33 AM

Id like that .wav file. If you cant PM the file to me on here or traxxas ill send you my email.

True, I was told that it was to do with the Motec System Exhaust?

captain harlock 09.28.2008 08:35 PM

Hmmm, maybe now I should consider one for real.

Guys, I got my MBX5T!!!

The Novak heatsink and a pair of 40mm fans are working much better for me. I will take a picture of what the truck looks like now. Its just a big wiring mess with the BEC and 3 fans running. The MMM cleared it all up for me. When the MMM combos come out I will definetely get rid of the extra fans and heatsinks and just go with that. Should make for a nice clean install.

Unsullied_Spy 09.29.2008 12:10 AM

2-3 weeks on the V3? I think I can wait :yipi: My Muggy needs an ESC and it's a toss-up between a MMM and MGM right now.

cwallis 09.29.2008 12:52 PM

I just got this email from Castle concerning my MMM, I just thought I would share with everyone else:
[I]"This is a status update for your Mamba Monster ESC currently in for repair at Castle Creations. We have found that a small number of setups are damaging the controller, and our Engineering department is working 100% on resolving this issue. Progress is being made, and as soon as we get the ok from engineering we will begin repairing and replacing all of the Monsters that we have in for repairs.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and will continue to keep you informed.

Sincerely,

The Castle Team"

BrianG 09.29.2008 01:05 PM

Hmm. It would be nice to know exactly how these few setups are damaging the BEC on the controller...

cwallis 09.29.2008 01:27 PM

Yea that is what I would like to know, as my setup is fairly simple, there shouldn't be any problems.

SpEEdyBL 09.29.2008 05:50 PM

I guess it would have to be the radios or servos that could be causing the problem. Castle can't test all the radio/servo combinations you know. Or it could be the way your mmm is mounted - which may effect how your MMM gets rattled after a hard landing.

hemiblas 09.29.2008 06:40 PM

I agree on the setup issue. Maybe we should have people post their setups that have had great success. I thought my 7xl feigao setup was as safe as you can get. I thought all you guys with the neu motors were making these things go bad. Me and my fans on the feigao were supposed to be laughing all the way to the track.

BrianG 09.29.2008 06:49 PM

Some people had posted on the poll that theirs was working fine. But many have since failed. Since they had already voted on the poll, I had to manually subtract one from the success and add one to the fail counts. At first, the successes were about 2:1, but the fails are slowly catching up. So, I'm not sure how accurate any poll would be at this point.

George16 09.29.2008 08:21 PM

That's the same email I got. I think they need to be more specific as to what are causing the problems unless they are not certain.

phatmonk 09.29.2008 08:27 PM

What are these "setups" they are speaking of.It does seem alot are 6s cell counts. But then some are 4s etc.

TruckBasher 09.29.2008 08:34 PM

Well, I am also interested about those setup..maybe once the finish making the fix they would tell us...

IMHO, I still think its more of the design of MMM rather than setup...well at least for my case...my second MMM is still running unmodded..out-of-the-box...same truck same battery but this time I used UBEC like when I was running the truck on MM....

Hopefully CC will tell us or will completely fix it...once V3 will be release I will have reason to send my 2 MMM...save on shipping them both...

e-mikey 09.29.2008 10:23 PM

After thinking about it, it would be insanely creepy and probably illegal to post a .wav file of a telephone recording.

Where I'm from is a 2 party, assumed state which means both parties need to know they are being recorded, unless it's assumed (police/fire.) I'm not sure this was the case when I was on the phone.

I'm sorry for even suggesting I would post a call.

DRIFT_BUGGY 09.29.2008 10:29 PM

Anybody seen a photo of the new case?
