The 30,000 that comes stock doest offer much resistance and feels like there is nothing in them(like an open diff) the 50,000 helps alot. I see that you have a few losis and I know they only use up to 10,000W in the diffs and that feels very stiff. The traxxas diffs need such heavy weight b/c of its design (has less gears in them than a 1/8th diff does, so the oil has to work harder to slow them down) Thats why the heavier fluid

IIRC front + rear's come with 30k as mentioned but the c/d come's with 100k stock, not nearly enough IMO....

i went to OFNA clear diff lock for the c/d and am running 30k in front and 50k in the rear :yipi:

Sorry, I was told by traxxas a while back that it was going to come with 500,000. I havent checked it since it was released

E-Revonut 01.18.2009 05:22 PM

As far as I know the Traxxas center diff comes with 100k. The stock diffs don't come with silicone fluid in them at all! They have nothing but some grease in them! I know that for a fact, I just took both mine apart last week and cleaned the grease out of them!

E-fanatic 01.18.2009 05:53 PM

Mine had silicone in mine. I switched it to 50,000. It helped alittle. I have bought 3 replacment diffs off ebay and they all had fluid.

from what i know basically the thicker fluid reduce's "diffing out" and make's a diff act more like a spool or direct drive....

this can help with handling and tire ballooning

my perspective is coming from 8th scale buggy and truggy nitro. The diffs on the erevo and emaxx are way too hard to get to in comparison. That said the trucks are for the most part pretty easy to work on.

i can have my diff's out in ~ 15min - 20min....

i also own a truggy + buggy

Come on, I can get the diff out the e-maxx in about 5 mins and the revo in about 3. Now again ts not as easy as 1/8th but it really not that hard

I'd like to see that. When I had my Revo it took me at least half an hour to get to the diffs.

E-Revonut 02.08.2009 05:25 PM

I can honestly have a diff out in 10 minutes. I'd like to see it done in 3!

BrianG 02.08.2009 05:28 PM

I can have it out in less than 10 seconds. Of course none of the surrounding parts will still be usable...

You must have some better tools than I use. I just have regular L-wrenches that kill your fingers. I'd love to get a small electric screwdriver with some hex bits for it though.

Yes a good set of hex drivers is mandatory! Take off the shocks, 3 screws holding the body mount to the bulks, and a set screw on each driveshaft. Pretty sure that's all that is needed for the rear diff. The front diff does take an extra minute or two. Putting it back together is the tricky part, lining up the center driveshafts.

E-fanatic 02.08.2009 06:19 PM

Thats just it getting them out is easy , its putting them back in thats a pain! I have gooten good at pulling the emaxx and erevo apart. I have good tools and a 18v dewalt drill. The erevo is only a few screws(9) I cant see how 9 screws takes 10 mins. The emax only reqires you to remove the 2 screws out the shock tower, 2 screws out the skid plate, 2 out the chassis, oh and 2 out the bumper mount and remove the shafts. You only need one side of the bulhead off to remove the diff. It pretty easy

E-fanatic 02.08.2009 06:23 PM

Man I guess the next time I kill a diff I will have to video it for you. Man its only 2 shock tower screw, 3 body mount screws, 4 skid plate screws, and shafts. I just cant see how it takes that long. Even with hand tools I can have it out preety darn fast

Edit on the 9 screws I forgot the 2 that hold the turn buckels

Unsullied_Spy 02.08.2009 06:29 PM

I still like my Muggy...pull two screws out of the chassis and if you can reach around the bumper there's only 4 more screws (I just remove the bumper though, 2 more screws and makes it much easier). Once you've got the plastic hinge pin cover off remove 2 hinge pins and drop the bottom (or top) control arms out of the way, pull 2 plastic inserts out and the entire diff and center shaft comes right out. THAT is a 2-3 minute job.

EDIT: Re-assembly is just as easy

E-fanatic 02.08.2009 06:56 PM

Yeah I had the lst2 (same set up as the muggy) it was super easy!

lincpimp 02.08.2009 07:03 PM

My only issue with the lst is that the diffs are easy to get out, but once shimmed correctly never need to come out! It is handy if you are experimenting with diff oils... I wish more vehicles had such easy to get at diffs... Like a pre-X savage.

fastbaja5b 02.08.2009 09:08 PM

I still dunno how to get a diff out of my Revo

is there a step by step guide for us morons anywhere

E-fanatic 02.08.2009 09:58 PM

do you need the front or rear diff?

fastbaja5b 02.08.2009 10:02 PM

rear

E-Revonut 02.08.2009 10:10 PM

There are 3 screws at the very rear top of chassis, they hold the body mount bumper assembly on, remove them and pull the bumper assembly off. Remove the shocks. Now the whole rear assembly should pull off. There are set screws that hold the driveshafts on, remove screws from both axles and the center driveshaft and unattach the shafts from the diff. Now the diff will pull out of the bulks.
