s Dont mean to be a negater, Those are nice builds of Robins parts. Now you're going to fashion your own, no offence but those dont even look driven once. Dont mean to be mean as I love it, but have you even fired up the pletty/lighteneing yet ? What if it drives like turd is why they stopped makiing it.

when you have a +$3g toy you keep it clean!!..VIDEO>>>>http://s302.photobucket.com/albums/n...=EMaxximum.flv
my RM250,raptor700,trx450R and all my other toys are in the same CLEAN like new condition! |
I concurr. I drive my truck through mud and crap (damn dogs and seagulls), but I always clean it up afterwards- think of these trucks as trophy wives; they always look stunning and perfect, but that doesnt mean they arent 'goers'...
|
any updates?

I have a couple of RTR "turds" that I bash the snot out of and don't really even clean or maintain them. It is fun. However, all of my $2K-$3K+ RCs (I currently have about five) are pretty much a continuous work in progress. For me the hobby is about trying to build the best RC I can...finding the best mixture of components for the best (as I have defined it) performance. Sure I run them...but you won't see them taking the big jumps at the track. The best part of the hobby for me is the building process...in particular building these types of custom trucks. I only wish I could airbrush and paint my own shells:whistle:. Please sign me...I would like to buy one of these chassis. How do I get one? |

hey sssp...you can find tons of pics of the chassis in my photobucket album...follow the video link and check out the other pics!!...gope to have some fresh one tomorrow!!
|
Hey Matt, is your direct drive compatible with the existing Strobe slipper or do I need to get your 8mm ones too?
|
Hey Lito,
if the hole in the center of the strobe slipper is 8mm you can use it...but you will have to use my pressure plates!...the chassis comes complete with RR slipper, slipper pads and custom pressure plates!!:gasp:....i am using the smaller RR slipper(66-70 tooth only)...did this answer your ?? |
It's great to know that the 8mm slipper plates, pads, and slipper are included. That definitely answered my questions. I'll just keep the Strobes as spare for my other truck. Thank you.
On another note, can you pm me the cost of a separate slipper system because I might have to get one as spare so I don't have to worry about shipping. |

I prefer not polished, to keep the cost down, and I drive the crap outta my trucks so it will get scratched. It could possibly be an option for more money??
Also- You said you had the mgt rr slipper. Is it too large or will it bolt up? With the power people will put on these chassis' the mod1 mgt spur will be much more reliable than the 32pitch maxx spur. |
I'll take a VBS clip too just in case I get crazy enough in bolting my VBS for bashing :).
Unpolish for me since it will be seeing dirt a lot. Good thing I have 2 extra GenIV servo saver :party:. |
Harold...the MGT spur will bolt up!!...i think the center diamiter of the MGT slipper is 8mm just like the E/T maxx slipper!!....i am making them all the same to keep it simple!!....the slipper disc, pads and spur are stock RR...i just had to make custom pressure plates because the shaft has a large pin through it kind of like a CVD or dog bone to keep the slipper in place!!
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/DSC01392.jpg...drool,drool,drool!! |
Awesome!!!!! Hear that guys? The mgt RR slipper fits. Mod1 Gearing! (sure are glad you sold me the mgt rr slipper aren't you Linc):lol:

I agree.
I agree with you SSSconcepts about building the ultimate rigs. I have not raced a lick yet with any of my Maxx trucks, but some day I will be tearing up the tracks. In teh mean time I am having a blast just researching and building these things. Some say that the Maxx design is out of touch and outdated, but I think the engineering is one of the best made R/C vehicles, and especially with all of the aftermarket upgrades and specialty parts that you can get for them.
Matt thank you for trying to think of everything with these chassis that you are reproducing for us. I know that I am grateful for your efforts on our behalf. Having the custom slipper plates along with the mods that you are making is just awesome for an already incredible setup. I am looking forward to getting mine and building it up for another high speed project, and I haven't even finished the first one yet (my SuperMaxx). Anyway thanks for doing this and keeping us up to date on the progress. These are boing to be incredible toys and on a limited production run. Way to go Matt. |
servo mount
hi alll...very nice truck. just an observation from an engineer, why make that clamp? you are putting the stress on the servo casing where it is not designed to mount on. why not just get a 5-6mm thick oblong of ally10-15mm bigger all round than the total size of the servo, mount that using the screws that are allready there (they may need to be longer) then cut out the centre of the oblong to the correct shape of the servo using the correct mounting holes.
i would gladly machine that out on my mill but i live in uk so bit far away  |
the BS clamp has been eliminated....i totally redesigned the steering servo mounting position!!....it will fasten to the chassis with the normal 4 screws!!!...thanks,GOOD POINT!!...i was looking for a new clamp before i decided to produce the chassis!!:mdr:
|
Hey Plett...got a status report for us?
|
i called Saturday!...Hey promised my project was to be the next project out the door "no matter what"...he was finishing a 500 unit order for a small custom sub machine gun part!!!...it paid very well and he couldn't pass up the work...WHAT EVER!!
the first 12 are sold and i am taking names for the second run!!! |
Great news.

Matt, did you extend out the battery area too? I'm too lazy to re-read the whole thread.
|
yes...1/2" on each side...total 1 inch wider
|
That's really nice!!!!!!
|
thats a nice clean design there, good job Jerry2kone
I remember seeing it yeeeeeears ago but I thought it was a German lad that originally made it? |
Mis-reading.

oh right, sorry, I did misread your post. So Plettenberg, do tell, who made the original one?
|
Emaxxler made the original years ago.
|
i got it from him with intentions of reproduction!
it cost me apretty penny! i have also made many major mods to the chassis! |
