The savings from amain is good, but my wife would absolutely kill me. I was thinking more along the lines of using a $60 off coupon code at tower and doing the 3 payment deal. It only ends up being about $38 more, but I would get to keep my rear-end intact.

Thats what I did and told her 228.00 thats not bad.It kinda like layaway for christmas. At 670.00 bucks is alot to come up with at christmas time with 3 daughters.

So which body style should I get?

FWIW, Tower just dropped their price to $675, so with the $60 off coupon, it's barely more than amain. It's even more appealing with the 3 payment plan on tower.

When I get one I am planning on getting the Bullydog since it has red beadlocks..

I didn't need to know this.. How much is all of the nitro stuff off it worth? maybe then I can justify it...

I'm figuring maybe $150...and that's counting the radio gear too. I just don't see those motors going for much on eBay.

hootie7159 11.19.2008 01:54 PM

i sold all my nitro stuff rx/tx motor servos on ebay for about $170 shipped

Nice Work :intello:

hootie7159 11.23.2008 01:34 AM

quick update but on horizonhobby.com they have the prepainted AE and lucas oil trucks bodies FS as well as an unpainted one.....also they have the wheels pieces (not fully assembled) adn you can buy them individually but it will be more expensive than just buying a complete set of wheels....also they have the body cages and mud flaps/guards on sale as well....

lucias 11.23.2008 03:44 AM

Do you think they will ever offer the SC8 as a roller?

hootie7159 11.23.2008 11:16 PM

3 Attachment(s)
I hope they offer the sc8 as a roller....b/c then i'm getting another one for sure:yes:....anyways another quick update...i wasn't really happy with the receiver placement on the sc8 using the RCM servo/receiver mount. I wanted the receiver to have better protection...soooooo...i did this:

Attachment 5924

Attachment 5925

Attachment 5926

i used the new traxxas sealed receiver box and used one of the existing mounting holes and secured it through the mud guard with a locknut on the inside.....it looks pretty cool....AND i also coated all the electronics (inside and outside) with this stuff http://www.rz-50.com/ its RZ-50 and is supposed to be a non-conductive dry film lubricant....and when you spray it on its dries clear:yes:....anyways, just another way to further mud/water/dirt proof you sc8

it looks pretty similar to mine....i have my MMM mounted behind the battery tray (losi's 8ight-e battery tray) and i've mounted my receiver next to the steering servo as well (but its the traxxas water-proof case  ) so in a way i think the conversion i did is just as good AND a lot cheaper

BL_RV0 11.27.2008 11:37 AM

Anyone know how much the sc8/rc8/rc8t conversion will be going for?

the 3 payment plan on tower is cool but if you use amain and you can use the paypal pay later offer and beable to pay as you want over a 90 day period, thats what i did with my Rc8T i ordered last week, used the %10 off and some store credit points to get the Rc8t and 3 cans of paint for 520 shipped. Hard deal to beat and plus it give me plenty of time to get all my stuff i was selling sold and shipped and sorted out, then i can pay for the truck at the first of the year after i get my holiday bonus and check for the two weeks im working during christmas break. all works out nicley because other wise id have the truck and no electronics, this way i went ahead and got everything all at once.

If I were to go that route, it would save me a whole $13.58 over Tower. My rewards points aren't redeemable yet, so that doesn't help either. Also, if I add in $25 more with a tower order (to make it $699.90+), I can get $70 off instead of $60 off.

BL_RV0 11.27.2008 03:11 PM

FWIW: I've experienced that amain ships faster than tower.

That's true, but ground shipping from CA to FL is slow as heck. Even if Tower sits on an order 2 days longer, I'd still get it at the same time or sooner than AMain.

where you from in fl.......i'm in jupiter

BL_RV0 11.27.2008 07:00 PM

Good point. I live in CA so very fast shipping for me. Next day.

hootie7159 11.27.2008 07:14 PM

i live in sac which is only 1 and 1/2 hrs away from chico so i get my stuff next day no matter what as well as long as i order it in the morning... :)

BL_RV0 11.27.2008 07:18 PM

Nice. You should go pick up from the store to save yourself on shipping costs. Well then you have to worry about your own fuel costs- just matters if you have another reason to go up there i suppose.

Horizon Hobby has them listed for 89.00 due late December.I wonder if the motormount will fit the Neu motors. The battery tray looks very much like the losi but it has the radiobox connected to it.It looks like 1 piece. The picture shows a Associated brushless motor. It actualy shows the conversion as a option for the SC8 on the Associated website

That $ doesn't sound too bad actually, but I would still opt for mike's mount and battery tray.

phatmonk 11.29.2008 01:01 PM

Mike makes the best quality battery trays and motormounts.Thats what I used.I took the SC8 out for a test drive.I am running a MMMv3 Tekno Neu 1515/1.5 and 4s 14t stock spur.Very differant then my E-Slayer and not prone to flip.

BL_RV0 11.29.2008 03:54 PM

Good to hear. A vid you have?

So pretty much the same price as Losi's

BL_RV0 11.30.2008 04:34 PM

I wonder if someone has a 8ight and a rc8 and would buy the 2 conversion kits and use the same components to see which kit is better made. Anyone qualify for this?

DRIFT_BUGGY 12.01.2008 06:11 AM

Im sure a mag will do a review on the two of them

FG101C 12.08.2008 03:51 AM

Hi guys, I am starting mine now. Got the SC8 on ebay, buy it now for $659.00 w/free shipping. Had a 10% discount which brought it to $593.10. Since I did the search through Live.com, I got a sweet rebate (too come in about 60 days) of $197.70, bringing the grand total to $395.40. Now I already have a Tekno NEU 1515/1/Y/F, an RCM battery tray, just need the motor/servo mount.

Currently listing all the nitro parts and the radio on ebay. If I get lucky, it will make the total purchase around $200.00 to $250.00. I will still have to pick up another MMM.

How did you mount the RCM servo mount? Did you just cut the stock tray and bolt it on top of the stock material?

Thanks.

hootie7159 12.08.2008 04:00 AM

yeah...just cut the stock tray then bolt it on top of the tray but underneath the servo tabs...

Live.com, then search Team Associated. Then you will have to dig through to find the SC8. The discount percentage varies day to day also. there an ebay help page on how to do it.
