Yeah, it's probably a bit too old to support it fully. That LCD is rather an odd ratio; 1600 is more common. It's ok though, as long as it looks good to you!
|
Brian what is a good ratio for the contrast & brightness feature ?.
|
Whatever doesn't blind you.
Seriously, it depends on the LCD. You want black blacks, white whites, and natural colors that are consistent and even across the whole screen. Even though there are only a handful of manufacturers that actually make the LCD panel, the way each implements the circuitry to drive it (along with firmware/software) and the backlighting method is different. |

I have no idea what the driver does specifically. It might fix everything (including your resolution mismatch), or nothing.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to update your video card driver at the same time, but I would get personal help with that. |

Is the video driver upgrade exspenseive ?. |
It's free.
You probably have either an ATI or nVidia card. Or it may be integrated into your motherboard, but still probably one of those two. |

Okay i'll have to contact my friend who gave me the computer . Is it worth buying a new video card or will the driver upgrade be enough ?. |
I doubt the driver will do it - a new card should cost about $100
Just look at your desired price point... http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...hics,2086.html |
I was just saying the driver because depending on the age, new versions may support more of the widescreen and/or oddball resolutions.
A new video card may not be an easy option either. Most of them now are PCIe, while older ones are AGP. lol, all this because of Youtube doesn't look quite right. You're gonna end up buying a whole new PC to match the monitor to watch YouTube! |

Sorry What is the spec of the rest of your PC?
Google CPU-Z and run it - take a snapshot of the main screen and post... |

Im looking to replace my wired keyboard & mouse with a wireless setup . Im just looking for a basic wireless setup & not looking to spend a fortune. If anyone can show me a few choices i would appreciate it . I was looking on newegg but some of the cheaper ones had only ok reviews .
|
I've always loved Logitech stuff. I use a wireless keyboard that uses AA batts, and they last months. However, the mouse tends to go through batteries fairly quickly, so I like to have a charging cradle to recharge the batts when I'm done.
As long as you are within ~6' of the receiver, distance shouldn't matter. That's about all the input I have on that subject. |

how does this one look ?. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823126174 |
Yeah, that's fine. Pretty much any cordless model will work. The more expensive ones just give you features you may never use; things like extended range, fancy buttons, etc.
|
|
I think I used something like that for the kids' PC once. It worked, but felt chintzy. They're gone now so I don't know if it's still working.
One thing to consider: Range is affected by the module placement. Since that one is a USB stick, placing it behind the PC might shorten the range. Shouldn't be a big deal if the kb/mouse are close like they typically are... |
