yes - i used to have the integy - i would strip out screws and always thought it was the screw until i broke down and paid for the mip set. boy is it every different - talk about precision machining. the real test are the grub screws - never strip.

newer maxamps are much better

That said i now have a pair of 8400 35C packs from Maxamps. these are much much better. never puff in the erevo or emaxx. Even Mike will agree these are much better packs. i got them from maxamps when i puffed my 8000 they sent me these as they are too pricey to purchase at this point. |
8.4amps x 35c = 294amps. I would seriously hope they dont puff given those specs . "Pricey" you say? I dont think that will ever change unfortunately though ¬_¬

well its two issues we are discussing
1) at one point maxamps packs just werent up to an erevo class truck- i would argue they are now. 2) cost is a huge issue - i wouldnt have bought these packs - they provided as replacements - somethng you wont get from a zippy or most vendors. 3) As a side i now have 2 SMC 9000 28C packs from SPC. I love these packs they are a great price performer. |
1) Time will tell I guess- looking forward to your findings.
2) Given the difference in cost and sell prices, maxamps could probably afford to swallow that loss, to keep customers happy more often. I doubt Zippy would replace a bad pack with a better one, but thats probably because the maxamps packs were being replaced anyway with the better ones; the number of times they have only offered people a discount on new packs to replace bad ones cant be ignored, but its good that you got a free upgrade for sure. |
Update: Well the maxamps packs are very near the end of their life. Power is significantly reduced and not much fun any more. I spent the better part of a week going back and fourth on "name brand reliability" and "significantly lower cost". I was looking at the Hyperions and Thunder powers vs. Zippy or Rhino. I couldn't stomach the idea of spending $100 or so on the cheaper packs and being let down so I went for the Thunder power pro power 30C packs. I got 3S 5000mah x 2. That set me back $259. I got my first run in today............holy crap this is one bad mofo! Didn't take long to end the session as I caught my front step and took out a lower control arm:oops:
The pack size is perfect for the trays on the BL revo. Its cold here, 30's, and the packs after 10 minutes were a mere 75 degrees. I'm running a stock truck. Hope to pick up some new arms in the morning and get some more in. Any good suggestions for a power supply for feeding the chargers, my marine battery has took a crap and these big pack suck my spare lawn mower battery dry quick. Also may be looking to get the Hyperion Duo, I assume it comes highly recommended? Joel |
