Just realized I didn't read the previous pages of this thread. Looks like you did a Revo conversion. I thought you had an E-Revo like me. On the E-Revo, the Traxxas wheelie bar is removeable without tools, and it has several height adjustments, so you can almost tuck it up out of the way or just remove it for racing. Not sure if it will fit the original Revo. If I wasn't so lazy I'd get up and find my Revo to see if it would fit...but I'm beat!

What kind of speed you getting out of that combo? I just did a speed run today and hit 61.7MPH...first time getting over 60 :gasp: I just hope I NEVER hit anything at that speed!

Oh, by the way, I changed tires to get rid of the balooning. I went with:

Proline Road Rage 40 series tires stretched over HPI wheels:
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXDCW2&P=ML
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXNHV6&P=7

They were difficult to mount because they are not made for each other, but the result is a super low profile tire. I glued it twice to make sure. They have been tested up to 61.7MPH.

the Phaltlines are a cool on road tire for a truggy or Maxx/Revo

mopar1994 04.09.2009 10:50 AM

im rally not sure how fast it goes oldsoldier. but its faster than when it was nitro and my nitro revo went over 40mph so im thinking it goes 40-50

mopar1994 04.11.2009 12:30 AM

i am going to put 50k oil in the front diff and 10k oil in rear diff and i put gold shocks on the back and green shocks in the front. i got my front diff all taken apart and im not sure how much to fill this thing up with oil.
this is where i put the oil right?

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...ar1994/015.jpg

i hope it will handle a lot better now with new shocks and new oil. i still need to get 300k oil for the center diff and im thinkin about getting the rpm true track and i got the revo platinum edition body for it

squeeforever 04.11.2009 12:39 AM

Fill it up all the way, and be sure to get the blue x-ring seals in properly, as well as be sure not to pinch the seal on the diff cup.

mopar1994 04.11.2009 01:21 PM

when i opened up the rear diff it already had some pretty thick oil in it and i want to get tthe old oil out. should i turn it up side down and let it drip out or wash it out with water or somthing?

Urgeoner 04.11.2009 02:23 PM

drip it out first then take out the gears and clean them down, then put gears back in and fill it up.

George16 04.11.2009 10:16 PM

I use naptha in cleaning out my diffs. It dissolves/thins out the oil pretty quick for an easy cleaning.

Urgeoner 04.12.2009 12:04 AM

"nothing can take the place of my Fels Naptha" :intello:

mattcoolgame 05.09.2009 10:13 PM

Did you have any problem with the tranny striping or anything. Did you do anything to it other then lock it into second.

mopar1994 05.09.2009 10:18 PM

no i have not had any problems with the tranny and i have a center diff and forward only conversion in it but i have not done any other mods to it but lock it in 2nd. i ended up putting 500k oil in the CD and the front tires balloon a little less and with the duct tape inside, the tires only balloon on the outside and the inside stays in. it handles a little better with the stiffer shocks and new oil in the diffs. i finally finished painting the body for it. tell me wat ya think.

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...94/revo036.jpg

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...94/revo035.jpg

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...94/revo030.jpg

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...94/revo032.jpg

and im thinkin about getting a 1/8 buggy roller and putting all the revo's brushless stuff in it then making my revo nitro again.

mattcoolgame 05.09.2009 11:01 PM

So you didn't put in Robinson racing gears or have the pins inside the tranny break because One of the guys that helped me get mine started on what conversion and he has a friend that did the same thing but he ran 6s and was breaking the pins and burring up slipper pads so that is why I am curious of if you have had problems. Did you race this truck just to kind of know what abuse you were doing with it.

mopar1994 05.09.2009 11:38 PM

i have had nothing break in the tranny yet and i havent been able to run it very much lately. ive ran it once at a local dirt track for practice and ive driven on the street a little bit

mattcoolgame 05.10.2009 02:11 PM

I am in th process of exactly what you are doing is there anything that I should know as I am finishing my project.

mopar1994 05.12.2009 03:59 PM

nope, nothin else ya need to know except if you are mounting like a 5s lipo or bigger on the back of the right side of the chassis the prong thing in the back that the battary tray mounts to bends kind of easily.

mattcoolgame 05.12.2009 05:14 PM

Well I am in a debate now I am a 15 year old at the moment so I don't have a lot of money and I would like to get this revo going but I don't know if it is worth it because I have heard that the tranny donsn't hold but I don't want to sell my sc10 that I just got just to get the mmm speed control and motor just so I can show it off on our last day of school and show people what I do in all of my free time.

mopar1994 05.13.2009 06:08 PM

wooow!!!! im 15 years old too! its nice to have another teen on the forums. you could get a mamba max esc, castle BEC, and a feigao motor for it and a 4s lipo. that might be less expensive than the mmm combo

mattcoolgame 05.15.2009 04:58 PM

Yeah well if you could run it more and see if it brakes and what breaks that would be nice to look out for. I order a 5s lipo so we will see.

mopar1994 05.16.2009 11:32 AM

ill take not of what breaks on it. and i think im gona go down to a 4s lipo because im having problems with the front tires ballooning too much or i could just try lower profile truggy tires. which 5s lipo did you get?

mattcoolgame 05.16.2009 01:40 PM

Well I ordered a zippy 5000 5s 30c lipo. Well one more thing are you like stabing the throttle hard or going real easy on it?

mopar1994 05.22.2009 03:20 PM

i am making a new battery tray to mount the battery more forward and does anyone know what type of plastic i should use?
Quote:

i NEVER go easy on it! the first time i drove it i pulled the throttle all the way back and it flipped over and landed on its roof.

mopar1994 06.01.2009 04:12 PM

i just got some new parts for my revo and done some mods!
  • 17mm traxxas adapters
  • proline lpr white dish wheels
  • panther rapter tires
  • made new battery tray
  • cut side bars off of bumber
  • high torque hitec steering servo
  • lowered body mounts
  • got new body and painted it

heres the new body that i painted

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...version030.jpg

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...version029.jpg

heres the new battery tray that i made out of lexan to mount the battery more towards the front of the chassis

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...version034.jpg

ill try and get a video soon and i think im gona de anodize the chassis with greased lightning

mopar1994 07.01.2009 08:25 PM

i picked up a e-maxx 3905 trans and stuck it in my revo.

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...rsion001-1.jpg

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...version004.jpg

and im thinkin about making a center diff out of an lst2 diff like mistercrash did.

Urgeoner 07.01.2009 11:58 PM

Now that's nice!! Mistercrash used thunder tiger center diff didn't he?

mopar1994 07.02.2009 11:43 AM

He did for the first one but he used an lst2 diff for the second CD he made. Go look on the second to last page of his thread I think

mopar1994 07.09.2009 02:12 PM

i pianted the mmm 2200 motor black with engine enamel. and im putting lst2 diffs in it, and im should be getting my battery back from linc next week. hes splitting my 5s pack into two 2s packs.

heres the motor paintted black

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...version006.jpg

heres the lst2 diff in the front bulk head

brushlessboy16 07.09.2009 02:24 PM

Awesome, i just ordered my lst diffs and output shafts.. as for the motor, i like it! ...even tho i have the real thing :)

I am thinking about making a center diff out of an ofna spyder diff

mopar1994 08.17.2009 11:17 PM

got a short video of it before it started raining. i broke a center driveshaft so i think im gona go with center dog bones. what drive cups do i need for the pinion shaft on the lst diffs? and what drive cups do i need for the e-maxx 3905 trans? where can i get custom length dog bones?

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/u...conversion.jpg

Foxracin 08.17.2009 11:30 PM

How is the paint holding up on the motor?

mopar1994 08.17.2009 11:32 PM

its holding up good, but it scratches off really easy. anyone know what drive cups i need? and where i can get custom length dogbones?

simon740 08.26.2009 04:01 PM

Hello,
Im new on this forum, and I have some questions:
Now I have revo 3.3 nitro, and Im thinking about brushless conversion.
What I must buy?
Sorry for bad english, but Im from Slovenia(small country in Europe)

Simon

nitrostarter 08.26.2009 04:32 PM

Simon, Welcome aboard.

There are a couple different ways to convert. You can get the RC-Monster motor mount and build trays and such to hold your batteries. Or you get get a complete Tekno conversion kits that covers all your needs.

Then you have to decide whether you want mechanical brakes or want to use engine brakes. If you want to use engine brakes, you can lock the Revo tranny in 2nd gear, or swap out the tranny to a 3905 Emaxx tranny and use that motor mount as well.

There are multiple ways of going about it.

nitrostarter 08.26.2009 04:33 PM

mopar: For custom length dogbones that are BEEFY and $20 each, check http://www.rcalloys.com/ They can hook you up. Not sure on the cups tho.

Drive cups ? for what type?

custom length drive shafts, I can handle that for you unless you have a welder, I just cut mine and added stainless tube and welded them

mopar1994 08.28.2009 09:15 PM

i got some rc-monster 8mm bore drive cups for the lst diffs and then used traxxas revo extended wheelbase drive cups for the trans and i ordered dogbones from rcalloys.

simon- FYI the newest rc-monster revo motor mount does not use the nitro revo engine mount braces so it flexes a lot and kills spurs. if you get the rc-monster motor mount you should try and get the older one.
