The finished CF GTP II

Here is the finished GTP II. Motor, ESC and battery are soon to come.

Nice work BH. :great:
How thick is your CF chassis?

Big House 07.25.2009 09:22 PM

The chassis is 4.4mm thick. I re-cut the top plates as well as the servo plate. I almost don't want to run it, but there are nitros that are dying to be beat.

magman 07.25.2009 09:26 PM

Beautiful workmanship

Big House 07.25.2009 09:33 PM

Thank you sir.

magman 07.25.2009 09:36 PM

where did you get the black wheels?

Big House 07.25.2009 09:58 PM

Nitrohouse..I forget what the part number is but they have them.

Thanks...looked all over, but for some reason forgot about them.

What's_nitro? 07.25.2009 10:28 PM

Awesome work. IDK if that chassis is strong enough, though..................

Big House 07.25.2009 10:45 PM

I hope it is...or at least it better be. And I hate your avatar...it happen to me about a year ago.

What's_nitro? 07.25.2009 10:53 PM

It's definitely strong enough. I'm sure 3mm would've been fine with he top deck in place. AAMOF, you should do 3mm on top to save that little bit of weight.

Sry to hear that. I've been lucky so far. Now watch, the next time I turn it on it'll go RRoD on me! (Red Ring of Death for those of you who didn't know)

BL_RV0 07.26.2009 10:32 AM

That looks great!

Big House 07.26.2009 01:37 PM

The little weight savings from a thinner top plate is more than compensated for by the fact a 2200Kv motor powered by 5 - 6s batteries will be powering this thing. Not to mention the CF chassis and top plates weigh less than the hardened aluminum chassis.

A small set back...

I got the HPI 2200kv Tork motor in with fins and it is to big for the Tekno mount. I want to order Mike's mount for the GTP but I would feel a lot better with some back side support. Pushing 22-25v into this motor has to create some incredible torque so I want to maintain the best gear mesh possible. I have looked up the Flux's motor mounts, but HPI commands a premium for them.

I am sure the RC-monster mount is solid but will it hold this beast.

Arct1k 08.07.2009 10:36 PM

Yes with No issues

Big House 08.07.2009 10:51 PM

The heart of the Beast!!!

Here is the heart of the beast. And looks how it compares to the regular Mamba motor.

Arct1k 08.07.2009 11:03 PM

FYI You might need to grind some fins off...

Why is that? I think that might give me the horizontal support i was concerned about.

Arct1k 08.07.2009 11:13 PM

you generally want to allow it to flex - Otherwise chassis flex actually bends motor mount which will screw up your mesh...

Big House 08.07.2009 11:28 PM

The 4.4mm CF top support plates and 4.4mm CF chassis...Flex will not be an issue... that is why I want the motor locked in as solid as possible.

_paralyzed_ 08.08.2009 12:15 AM

that is a sexy biznitch

Motor mount on the way

I ordered Mike's GTP mount today. I got to get this beast running. Thanks for all the advice folks.

sabongi 08.15.2009 02:20 PM

updates?

any updates?? People are always looking for more power but they forget about the weight. They're just forgetting 50%. BTW, awesome work on carbon fiber!!!

Big House 08.15.2009 06:46 PM

Motor mounted...

And I got to say that Mike's mount is the freaking best. Tekno has a sweet idea, and will work really nice with a motor that fits inside it, but Mike's mount fits like it was made by Ofna for the GTP. It is perfect. It puts the motor right down the centerline of the car. The battery weighs pretty much the same as the motor sobalance shoud be dead on. I will get pictures posted later.

Big House 08.18.2009 10:52 PM

It is nearly complete...

3 Attachment(s)
Motor mounted, battery tray complete, reciever placed. All that is needed is the Mamba Monster and the 5s-6s lipo to push it. Here it is.

bdebde 08.18.2009 11:17 PM

You got a total weight on that rig?

My all stock one with 6s is HEAVY. Took it out for a first drive today, suprised how nice it handles though. Only got a couple min. in, I need to set more brake on the MGM controller.

sabongi 09.21.2009 03:47 PM

cf

any news? i love lightweight cars...

Big House 09.21.2009 07:52 PM

Not just yet...

Hope to have ESC and battery in by mid Nov. First runs shortly afterwards.

Big House 12.07.2009 03:03 PM

It is done!!!

I have finally completed the beast. Mamba monster, Tork 2200kv motor and 5s lipo and she is ready to run. I cannot wait to get it out on the road.

Big House 12.07.2009 04:09 PM

First run.

All I can say is WOW!!! The power on 5s is amazing. On stock wheels, 3/4 throttle and it is drifting. The beast is really a beast.

Desert Rc 12.07.2009 04:20 PM

Beautiful

simplechamp 12.07.2009 06:14 PM

Any updated pics with the finished setup (with and without body)?

nativepaul 12.07.2009 08:37 PM

How does the lack of kick up on the front and rear of the chassis effect the handling? It's all that's stopped me doing this to my mainly on road buggy myself.

Big House 12.08.2009 12:36 AM

The finished project

for an onroad application its actually desirable to have no kickup in the chassis .... look at every touring car make and they all have flat chassis...

nativepaul 12.09.2009 03:14 PM

Awesome, im going to jump on the bandwagon too then, thanks for getting me going.

Big House 12.13.2009 05:56 PM

Incredible!!!

I had a chance to run the beast fully on yesterday and I am glad I was at my local hobby shop and they recently got in a shipment of Ofna foams. Ripped a rubber tire off the wheel with minimal throttle. Foams on and it is a beast. Well built and fast. Going up a gear to see how well she does.
