Its not like its Nitro.
with only a 8 hour 45 min drive(for me) i still think it would be less of a hassel to drive there rather than have to go through security at the airport but my neighbor does have a few airplanes of his own maybe he could fly me there :D :D :D its just a thought
Its a little over 16 hours for me to NY, but I would still consider the trip to meet friends i have met here. The Farm2 is one of the best tracks in the south and would be an excellent location. I haven't been there myself but i have heard great things about it
have you seen it? its HUGE! there isnt a spot narrower than 15 feet on the whole track! heres the link the farm 2
You beat me to it Squee, but here is the best pic i could find http://www.carolinasrc.com/pictures/...rack%20003.htm and thats not all the track
that's interesting. For me, Barnstormers and The Farm II are only just minutes different as far as MapQuest estimations go.
Barnstormers 14 hours, 28 minutes Estimated Distance: 890.60 miles The Farm II Charlotte, NC 28221 14 hours, 37 minutes Total Est. Distance: 893.62 miles perhaps we should take up a collection for our non-US-mainland friends? PayPal for our friends airline tickets? I admit, I'm still trying to formulate the '06 RC-Monster t-shirts. ;-) Sorry coolhand, I think the thongs should be excluded even though it might be as early as July :p  j/k buddy |
I am thinking about this. Or rather I am trying to get my dad to think about it :p. If I had to take a guess, I would say my mom won't let me go (and pay for it), but I'll try to work on my dad. As it stands, my dad has enough air miles (from his credit card) for 1 round-trip ticket. If I were to go alone, I could possibly stay with my aunt and uncle that live in Morristown, New Jersey (how close is that to Mike?). Right now everything is just speculation, and I would need more information to even think about asking my mom.

too far
Hawaii is kinda far from NY.. I wish I could make it to see all the bling bling... LOL Have fun guys
Daniel, Sneeck and I are talking about this. The thing we are worried about is to get our trucks in the US, shipping them earlier is not an option.
I also understood that it is not allowed to have lipoly cells shipped by air. though i don't know if this a a fact. I had this idea to rent a car on the airport, so we are as free as a bird from there. All three of us, never been in the US, so it would be quite a trip/adventure for us. |
I suggested July since my work start's around august the 10th. If we go(atleast for Rene and me) were gonna take a nice 2 week vacation while were at it. So to me July is better.
If this doesn't work out for whatever reason, I can always talk to my boss about some day's off in august. But I gotta know a date to be sure. |
Serum. Everything i read in Anerica says the Lipo's are not air shipped but shipped on the ground
The travel time to the Farm is about the same as Barnstormeres for me. July works. Just give heads up on date so i can get it on calendar. NC sonds fun could tie in a visit to the Outerbanks. NY sounds fun as well, tie in NY city.
Got popcorn?
Yea, I got popcorn with butter. If you guys make it you ought to visit a few of the East Coast Hotspots, NYC, Washington DC, Atlanta, SOUTH BEach MIAmi, and If you want to do the MIDWest, CHicago, and of course I'll give you a tour af Cleveland, Home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Catch a few Baseball games in various cities, etc...
for me meeting at the farm 2 would be better because it would cut over 2 hours off my travel time and it looks like there would be more room(on the track) at the Farm 2.
the farm 2 is much more convienient for me because it cuts my trip almost in half. 11 hours 40 minutes, 765 miles.
Well I am close to farm 2. So it sounds good to me. I can be in ny in not to long. It doesn't matter a great deal. July or august doesn't matter either. I got good ties with my boss and take can off. ;)
I live in Arkansas, long drive to the east coast. but I am very interested "what a party"
I have never been to the "farm", but I would surely love to go. The benefit of using Barnstormers is my relationship with the owner. I can easily secure the track for our event, and the owner is awesome at building tracks. We could design our own track, have a weekend long barbecue event or whatever. It is also 30 minutes from my house, which is a nice bonus. This makes it possible to get everything setup for the event! The actual date is not too important, except it must be a free weekend at the track(track must be available), so a firm date would be better sooner rather than later. Hopefully, we can get a date hammered out by February sometime so everyone can plan for it.
I really would love for this to happen, folks. I truly look forward to meeting as many of you in person as I possibly can! :) |
I'm not worried about where it happens, it will be cool wherever
IF the event is up there. There is one benefit. If people tear up stuff or break the hobby shop is 30 minutes away. ;)
I think barnstormers has a hobbyshop
i think he was referring to mike ;)
The one I am talking about sells brushless stuff. Has some upgraded parts and stuff. I heard the owner is a good person to deal with but you know how rumors are. ;)
Yeah im sure that i will break something or need to by something while i am there so being close to mikes hobby shop is an added bonus
Mike will likely have his "rolling hobbyshop" with him (cargo van) stocked with quite a few items :)
You Americans and your Cargo Vans... LOL..
i hope he has a big van i know i could use lots of spare parts :L:

Although nothing is set in stone yet, I wanted to make sure I kept the forum updated with current information.
Location: It looks like we'll hold the event in NY, most likely at Barnstormers. As the first event of it's type, it will be best/easiest on Mike to have it on familiar ground. Pending a successful outcome, repeating the event in a different location is not out of the question. Audience: This event will likely be open to the public, to increase participation and visibility into electric/brushless technology as we use it. We, of course, would like for every active RC-Monster.com member to show up! By going "public" with the event, we'll also be able to advertise and hopefully draw a big crowd and, perhaps, some magazine coverage. If you folks know anyone at any R/C publication, let myself or Mike know if we can contact that person. Agenda: Still very much up-in-the-air, but a few items will be: racing, Best of Show type of competition, possibly a long jump contest, and speed record contest. We're sure to have some grills going with BBQ as well as snack food and beverages. We expect to have some door prizes and raffle items. We will also be giving awards of some type to event winners. Requirements: ELECTRIC vehicles ONLY , BRUSHLESS preferred :) Nitro vehicles will NOT be run at this event. We really want to showcase where we are with electric vehicles today. Off-road only. There is no expectation of running on-road vehicles. Assuming the venue is Barnstormers, there is no on-road facility. There may be an entrance fee for the event and, if there is one, RC-Monster.com members are sure to get a substantial discount :) Date: No confirmed date, but we can expect towards the end of August...maybe the last weekend in August. We're hoping to have most of the above finalized in the next couple weeks, and I'll keep updating here. |
No smoking policy huh? How about a freestyle competition
august isnt really to good since school will have started. is there any possibility of july?
please make it in july or early august some of us are still in school and i dont think my school would consider it educatinal or an excused absense plus i would probably have homework to
i like the sound of a freestyle competition Quote:
End of august may be around labor day
If possible I would like to have it in july to. I have a family reunion to go to on wifes side. Much rather be in ny with rc brothers. I hope it falls on same weekend. ;) But it don't matter to me. For squee and some other peeps I think it would work out better.
heres a wild thought....why not put something about it on the storefront? it seems way more people will go to website to buy stuff instead of for the forum. it will probably reach more people that way....

Ohh boy this sound's fun. No smoker's, finally!!
Just an idea, would it be cool to sell rc-monster t-shirt's? |

Why, yes - yes it would ;) :D |
School in August? I thought school went back in September usually? I thought of July, but this is the hottest month and I don't want 100+ people running the wrong gearing and having thermal troubles all weekend, either. I would expect many of the participants to be fairly new to the race scene, so I want to make it as trouble free as possible for everyone. A freestyle competition would be a perfectly fine addition to the planned festivities, too. The final date depends on track availability, racer availability and weather, of course. The event must happen before school goes back for sure, but some time in August should cover that(correct me if I am wrong as it has been a while since I gradjiated the 4th grade! :) ).
I plan to have shirts, hats, decals etc. for the event. It is still pretty early in the planning stages as well. Lots to do and think about. :) |
my school will probably start sometime late during the week of the 20th so anytime before that would be fine
