Been away for awhile, awesome build you got going there!!! Love the turnbuckle motor mount braces on those earlier mounts, look so sweet.

You say youre at work the whole of next week? I'm back for the whole of next week  Looks like we'll just miss our bash... Look forward to seeing the progress!!

jordan

Man that sucks, i am only gone for one week at a time though. The great part about my roster is that if i take all of my holidays i only work 4.5 months out of the year:party::party::party:

SV6000 07.09.2009 12:17 PM

I cant wait to try the new speedy

jordan... 07.09.2009 12:20 PM

4.5 months haha, not too bad at all :intello: anyway, hopefully have a bash in the summer when its long break!

I'm going to be trying the MGM 28025 again next week just for kicks, it was sitting there doing nothing. Hopefully runs cooler for longer because the MMM would get hot after 5 mins. Hopefully mine doesnt reach the same fate as yours :eyes:

have a good one :great:

SV6000 07.09.2009 12:26 PM

I tried another MMM on the 1521 and after 4 15min runs, i charged the packs and plugged them in the MMM must have developed an allergy coz it turned to ash straight away. So i plugged in the MGM and it let out a little smoke for the second time. Nitro here i come:lol:

jordan... 08.19.2009 09:32 PM

hey mate,

hows the build coming, got any recent pics or vids for us?

SV6000 08.20.2009 06:31 AM

Hey Jordan, the car is coming really well. I ran it with the speedy and data logger and it all went very well. It had HPI phaltlines and at 1/4 throttle and 8s it was breaking traction and swinging the back end around. I am very surprised at how much torque this motor has. Whats more surprising is that when i pulled it apart to check things like bearings and mounts i found that the rear output from the center diff was rubbing on the motor can. And it still broke traction.
It is still apart at the moment at a machine shop having some pieces made up and modified. I have also changed the speedy to a 40.160WK. It is huge, i should have made a trailer to put the ESC on.
How is your truck going

jordan... 08.21.2009 04:16 AM

Good to hear! Sounds like some insane power :gasp: We should definately have a run in the summer when i back in perth :great: What custom parts are you doing, im curioous to see how you mounted that massive schulze

Not too sure about mine right now, i reconnected the MGM, but its still getting quite hot, and the gearing is reasonable, what top speed is yours geared for? Ive got a final drive ratio of roughly 12:1, and estimated top speed of 93kmh/58mph. And how do your temps run? I was considering moving upto 6s and then gearing down to try and get the temps lower

SV6000 08.21.2009 07:24 AM

We should definitely get together for a bash in the summer time. The parts i am getting milled up are hush hush for the moment but stay tuned. To mount the huge speedy i took a leaf out of your book and made 4 rises and a CF plate that sit above the motor and bolt to the chassis.
here are the speed numbers so far 10/44=66km/h I will probably run between 11-15 which puts me at 50-60 mph. But i do have pinions that go all the way to 25t 25/44=102MPH
I think 102 is a little extreme for what i want 40-50 normal 60 for speed runs sounds good to me
As for final gearing with 10/44 i sit at 18.92:1. I guess that leaves room to grow

SV6000 08.21.2009 08:29 AM

if you want to get your temps down have you thought about trying a lower kv motor say a 1527 1.5D

jordan... 08.22.2009 05:20 AM

ooo nice i cant wait. Thanks for the figures, i might try gearing down, maybe between 40-50 with 5s, then with 6s it should be up around the 55 mark with a 15.8:1 ratio. Hhaha, 102mph, id definately like to see that. Thought about the motor change, but id have top run higher voltages, then need a new esc blah blah blah, just seems like alot of hard work  Im thinking of a 1/16th erevo build now that ive seen those Tenbol mounts

SV6000 08.22.2009 06:27 AM

Yeah i have on order at my LHS and i just bought a Ofna DM 1 Pro to replace my IGT. I was having a think at work about your speedy heat issue and one thing that came to mind is the actual size of the MGM. I spoke to schulze when purchasing mine and they said that the 24.150 would be too small to dissipate the heat for a 1521 and recommended the 40.160 which is almost twice the size. It is longer than my motor by alot. Now consider the MGM 5 boards of circuitry stacked high for a small footprint but no where for the heat to go. A new bigger speedy could solve the heat issue. I know who i would recommend and than a new 1527 to go with it:whistle::whistle:

jordan... 08.22.2009 08:34 AM

dude that DM-1's a beast, are you gonna leave it nitro?

hmmm, thats an interesting point about the size of the esc, makes sense not being able to dissipate the heat. Maybe some active cooling is needed

and btw, what CD weight oil are you running, im only running 50k weight, it handles really well, but unloads before it loses traction on grass, im thinking i need to get more power down!!!

SV6000 08.22.2009 09:08 AM

NO i am not going to leave it nitro. I was thinking a tekin truggy system. Or a My 1521 for this and a low kv 1527 for my G3
I think i am running 50K in my center as well.
There is a thread on here in the brushless section called Brushless 1/5 scale that talks about water cooling there truck with PC processor water cooling systems. I sent my MGM in for repair again. I really want to sell it if you want a spare or know anyone that wants one.

jordan... 08.23.2009 03:26 AM

ok nice, the 1521 would be killer in the DM1. Hmmm, 50k as well, ill see how it goes with the different gearing when i get back, maybe give it a bit more punch. The MGM youre getting rid of is a 28025 right? Is it the model with the fans installed?

SV6000 08.23.2009 06:20 AM

Yes its a 28025-3 Z series. It did not have the fans installed but i have some for it, so yes it has fans. Also has a black box data logger

grevo26maxx 09.27.2009 10:31 AM

Thats a sweet set up man. I want it. I don't run nitro anymore especially after running a 3.3 brushless myself... I just gotta get one of those chassis and do the center diff. Looks so much better than a revo tranny. So I found my next project. LOL

SV6000 09.27.2009 08:34 PM

Yeah i will be posting some updates with photos in the next few days stay tuned it`s almost done:party:

I cant wait to get it out onto the road to see what it will do. I have ran it with a 1515 1y on 4 and 6s and it handles uber well. Top speeds and acceleration should be just as impressive as long as i can keep the nose on the ground. Might have put some weight up front.

The only trouble is finding a chassis. There were two ally ones on ebay but i don't know if they are still there. You could also make your own and get it machined up, it would be expensive though

davey2395 09.27.2009 09:51 PM

hey sv6000 that thing looks sweet

SV6000 12.11.2009 03:51 AM

Ok guys so sorry for the delay but it is finally done, i just got back in from doing some all round testing and everything looks good so far. The only thing left to do is some hard core testing with my eagle tree and post some photos.:party:

SV6000 12.11.2009 04:04 AM

After seeking some advice and speaking to the guys at schulze i decided a bigger speedy was the go, so i went with the future-xl-40.160WK. Here is a photo of it compared to the 24.150

SV6000 12.11.2009 04:08 AM

As i said earlier i wanted a mechanical brake setup if for nothing else because it looks cool.
I ended up with 4 wheel disc brakes that function very well and have no trouble pulling the truck up. I still need to do some more testing to decide if i will keep them or not.

Here is how it all actuates
http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/w...0/IMG_0180.jpg
I still need to trim the wires and crimp the ends once the brakes are adjusted for bias. At the moment they are adjusted for full lock front and rear.

SV6000 12.11.2009 04:17 AM

And to finish off here are a couple of photos of my DM 1

Popoxx 12.11.2009 06:15 AM

Awesome work ! I love the mechanical brake setup :yipi: Did you made it or bought it ?

suicideneil 12.11.2009 11:19 PM

God damn that incinerator unit/esc is huge!

Looks awesome though, nice job

EDIT: wtf-mech brakes on a revo? Got any more info or a link to what you used for those?

Bondonutz 12.11.2009 11:31 PM

Super Cool !!!!!!
Revo with Mech Brakes, TITS !
Please tell how you stripped and polished the 2200Motor ?

The brake kits are for a BAJA and i modified them to fit. The company that makes them is, well inXXXXtgy sorry don't know if i can say that word here.
In order to get them to fit i had special hubs made up that are 24mm hex to start with, drop down to 17mm hex for the rims and than the standard traxxas thread. I noticed how much the standard traxxas hubs wear when i first ran the truck so those hubs are an interference fit. If you didn't put the retaining pin through it would still turn and the wheels would not come off, in fact with out a hammer you wont get those hubs on or off.
I also had the cable holders made up, everything is made from 7075

Here's a link http://www.integy.com/st_prod.html?p...94&p_catid=126, you will also need a very strong servo, http://www.hitecrcd.com/servos/show?name=HS-7950TH i use one for steering as well. The cable are all shimano racing bike cables as the stock ones are very average.

I stripped the motor down and used oven cleaner. I was very careful and used an old toothbrush to lightly agitate. Than i put the motor back together and buffed with dremel, steel wool, billet polish and microfibre cloth.

SV6000 12.12.2009 12:15 AM

Hey Neil you should check out the schulze website and see the 40.300WK. Its twice as wide and comes with its own metal heat sink case. It is one big speedy.

Nard Cox 02.14.2010 11:35 AM

Man this ride is sick!!

Any movies of this beast ? It must haul ass!

squeeforever 02.15.2010 01:23 AM

SV, would there be any possibility of getting a set of those hubs and cable holders? I'd love a set of those on my BPP Lightning Stadium and possibly my E-Revo as well.

Edit: How much of a PITA is it to adjust the camber since the disc is blocking it? Also, how is the caliper fixed to the knuckle? Its kinda hard to tell.

I only had the one set of hubs made, the cable holders are off the brake kit and the caliper is fixed directly to the hub. Adjusting the camber isnt to bad but it does require taking the disc off. That means undoing the two screws that hold the brake shoes onto the caliper. So not too bad really. If it really becomes a PITA i will just drill a hole in the disc at the right spot

Since you only had the one set made, would it be possible to have the same person make another set since he's already done it? I'd really be interested in a set if possible. Also, perhaps I'm being a little thick headed, but I don't see how the caliper could be fixed to the hub and not the knuckle?

SV6000 02.15.2010 02:20 AM

Sorry meant the knuckle/ axle carrier:slap:

The reason i only had the one set made is the guy who did the work for me was really slow i had to wait three months to get those and i dont think he is interested in doing it again. sorry. He has a very large firm and doesnt have time for us peasants.

If you really want this on your truck i would suggest buying the kits first and than drawing up the hubs yourself. That will save you time and money in the long run. This is not an easy thing to do it takes a lot of time and a lot of back and fourth with very little progress. You will than need to source material, i used 7075, and make sure the design is right before the mill starts or you would have just wasted time and money. depending on your truck you may be better off both time and money wise to wait for the MMM HV, I am. I did this purely as an exercise in speedy insurance. All of my trucks will be MMM HV when they come out.

You will also want to go down to the local bike shop and pick up some shimano race cables and a 1.3mm drill bit. The cables that come standard in the kit are rubbish and the sheath is some blue with reflective highlights CXXP. You will need a very strong servo i am using a Hitech 7.4v ultra high torque servo that is fed from a third 2s 2200mah lipo that sits under the rear drive shaft that you cant see in the photos.

In all honesty it has nothing to do with the ESC, I just really like it. :mdr: If you ever want to sell that setup, PLEASE let me know.

SV6000 02.15.2010 03:13 AM

When you see what that schulze ESC was worth i wanted to do anything i could to make sure it never went in for repair. I had to take out a second mortgage:lol::lol:

SV6000 02.15.2010 03:15 AM

I will be doing some mods shortly to fit a 1527 in, i will let you know when and see what it will cost me extra to get the hubs made and let you know. Will be about a month or so away. Still waiting on the motor from NEU:grrrrrr::grrrrrr::grrrrrr:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
