i was hoping someone would be able to add some more character room for sigs first... admins can do that, right?

If they could do that I would list all of my cars/trucks...not just 3

Metallover 07.29.2009 06:21 PM

I think if you have over.. 250-500 posts you should have a 4-6 line max unlimited character sig as long as you don't do anything gay like put letter art or anything.

my sig is full...and I would like to add more but I can't. No big deal if it is not possible.

Haha. No kidding. We went from talking about adapters to talking about signatures.

justpassedu 07.29.2009 07:55 PM

+1 on these if they fit the ste

nougat 07.30.2009 08:43 PM

Any news on these adapters? Are we close?

I don't want to buy any more 1/10 truck tires if I can use my 1/8 buggy tires instead.

justpassedu 08.03.2009 04:58 PM

2 weeks they should have them on this website forsale , i just contacted flm today and they are in testing , thought you all may wanna know

GO-RIDE.com 08.03.2009 05:20 PM

I'll get a set of those. I have a few sets of 1/10 truck wheels for my RCM crt.5, but I'd like to try some of my 1/8 buggy wheels too. However, 1/10 truck wheels are already hard on the wheel bearings and a-arms.

justpassedu 08.04.2009 09:18 AM

hey guy's i should be fine with these on my hyper ste right? if they fit the crt.5 .. should all be the same ?

R00ST 08.09.2009 10:07 PM

Sorry for the no response... the forum did not email me so I figured nobody had responded (I was wrong lol).

I just emailed Jamie again as I still have not received the test pieces. Hopefully soon!

Mike

R00ST 08.11.2009 12:04 AM

Just heard from Jamie and the hubs are heading my way. Depending on what day they get here I will be sure to give a full review and get some pics up. I am gone thursday evening through sunday evening but will do my best!

I have various 17mm tires so I will post pics with all so everyone can see the sizes. I have a few different mod 1 pinions so will test out the larger sizes and see how they do on 2s/3s on a VXL motor with the MM.

Foxracin 08.11.2009 10:05 AM

What are the offsets on the adapters or do you know yet?

R00ST 08.11.2009 12:35 PM

Each adapter is +1 inch PER side. I had him do this as 99% of buggy wheels out there are 0 offset (the hub mounts to the outside wheel face). If you were able to mount this on the stock hex it would narrow the truck by almost an inch. I figured this way it will actually widen the truck about 3/4 of an inch (maybe an inch) total which should help handling/stability.

The only thing i'am concern is about the longevity of the hub bearing:oh:
This setup will place alot of stress on it:whip:

Foxracin 08.11.2009 02:17 PM

I have been running Slash adapters on mine even though the hole is a little big on them and I havent had any side effect or anything out of the ordinary yet.

They buggy wheels and tires do work awesome on the little .5 though. I will definitely be getting a set when they become available.

GO-RIDE.com 08.11.2009 02:27 PM

Yah the hub bearings are tiny on the crt.5 and get blown out easily by 1/10 truck wheels. At this time I'm holding out on any crt.5 mods till the new Ofna Blitz comes out that is supposed to be based on the Hyper .5

Thats the 4wd corr truck aint it? Is it supped to be nitro or electric?

R00ST 08.11.2009 03:58 PM

1/8 buggy tires are lighter than most typical 1/10 treads. Yes there is more leverage on the hub but the tires/wheels are lighter which will help.

I have been running masher 2k's on my .5 for awhile and the bearings have not gotten sloppy yet. I would be willing to change out the bearings or possibly replace a hub once a year to have the benefit of running 1/8 buggy tires.

david lamontagn 08.11.2009 06:49 PM

Your right, and i'll certainly be in the top 5 who'll order a set when they'll be available:yes:

R00ST 08.13.2009 12:26 AM

The hubs are shipping out tomorrow. Should have them by the end of the weekend. Will update as soon as I can :)

Hey ROOST, when is this hub is suppose to be available for all of us??
Do you know if rcmonster will stock them?

R00ST 08.13.2009 04:50 PM

I believe they will be released as soon as I get the trial set and test the fitment and tolerances. I plan to bash it pretty hard for about 5 packs with various 1/8 tire sizes so that will help judge any possible problems.

I am pretty sure they will be great though :)

I suggested to Jamie that they be available through RC-monster so we can give Mike some business so we will see.

R00ST 08.18.2009 12:27 AM

Got the adapters in the mail today. Will get some pics up and some testing done asap!

Foxracin 08.18.2009 09:37 AM

:great:

R00ST 08.21.2009 12:56 AM

I got the mounted but ran into a slight fitment issue.

I have contacted Jamie to see what he wants me to do (adjust adapters to fit and then test or test as is). I am assuming he wants them to be good to go before production so I will wait for his response.

Otherwise I have them mocked up and the truck looks great!

Foxracin 08.21.2009 09:36 AM

What kind of fitment issue is it? Have any pics of them mounted up?

justpassedu 08.21.2009 04:47 PM

I have a test set also and i am having a fitment issue , the adapters wont fit over the axle , i tried to dremel them a lil bigger but unfortunetly i broke my bit doing it, any suggestions bc id really like to test these out on the ste for everyone. got a new set of 1/8th wheels and tires aswell.

nougat 08.21.2009 05:59 PM

Why doesn't someone just send FLM a crt.5 axle (and maybe a Hyper Mini-ST axle) so they can measure and get the tolerances exactly right.

+1:whistle:

R00ST 08.21.2009 07:36 PM

My problem is not fitting over the axle, they slip on perfectly (which means he drilled them exactly correct).

My problem is the pin hole is not large enough. The pin fits through the adapter by itself, as well as through the axle (obviously its a stock pin).

The problem is once the adapter is on the axle it will not go all the way through (its like a tenth of a MM from going). One of them mounted up perfect, the other 3 I cant get the pin through. I think im just going to open up the pin hole a TINY bit so there is more space so they can go through.

THe second problem, is the axle pin hole is drilled on the VERY edge of the adapter, so there is about 1mm of space between the mounted adapter and the bearing. This of course results in slop. I asked if he wanted to take measurements and redrill them (probably yes) or if he wanted to include shims to shim out the difference so there is no gap.

Still waiting on a response...!

I will try to get a picture up soon. I have some 1/8 badlands on one side of the truck and some Ofna Blaser SST stadium tires/wheels (no longer made, but I think they are the perfect bashing size. About 3/4 inch taller and about 3/4 inch wider than the badlands 1/8 tires).

I think 1/8 buggy tires are going to be the best overall though, for racing/bashing etc. Its just nice having a slightly taller tire to gain ground clearance for really rough terrain.

R00ST 08.22.2009 06:27 PM

Here are a few crappy pictures. Sorry my batt is almost dead and I cant locate my charger so I only was able to snap a few (and some are a bit blurry because the flash would not cooperate).

Gives you an idea anyway!

There are some 2.2 knobbies, the tallest/widest ones are the ofna blazer SST stadium tires, and then of course some 20% tread left proline badlands (standard 1/8 buggy wheel/tire).

^^This shows the small gap there is between the adapter and the bearing/hub face. Its quite small (~1mm) but enough to leave a pretty good amount of play once a tire is mounted up. I think im going to just shim it out (not tight but just to kill most of the play).

If I dont hear from Jamie soon im just going to open up the holes on the 3 adapters that are tight, shim up the adapters and start running them! Then he can decide if he wants to retool his design a bit. If it were me I would:
- move the pin hole on the adapter back about 1mm OR include shims
- Figure out the pin diameter needed (like I said one of mine is perfect, other 3 will not fit so I am guessing the 3 just did not have the bit run through them long enough)
- Include O-rings to go over the adapter/pin to keep the pin in place. He included 4 snap ring type deals but they are very stiff and hard to work with. I have used o-rings on adapters like this before and had no problem with o-rings as long as they are wide/tight enough to not move around.

I will update you guys when I can.

-Mike

RC-Monster Mike 08.22.2009 07:10 PM

You won't hear from Jamie until next week at the earliest - he had a funeral to go to this weekend (Jamie had a bit of a rough week).
Regarding the holes - did you try all 4 adapters on the same axle or did one fit one axle and the other 3 didn't fit the next available axle? They are turned on a cnc lathe(each part is run exactly the same as the one before it), so I would suggest that the holes are all the same - perhaps a burr is present, or there is a slight tolerance variance on the axles or a combination of these issues?
I would shim the gap and run them - The idea is to see if the wide offset is going to cause any problems with the small axle and small bearings - the hole location, etc. are small details that can easily be worked out if they go into production - need to see howwell they work first, though. :)

david lamontagn 08.22.2009 08:16 PM

OMG:gasp: hub bearing.......... anyways, the blazer tires is realy too big, but 1/8 scale buggy seam to be fine.

Foxracin 08.22.2009 11:25 PM

Yea, the 1/8 scales are perfect on it I thunk. Dont look to big and they work awesome on them. I have been using them on mine for about 2 months or so know. I love them. Will never go back to stock size.

I have been using Slash adapters until these come out. They have a little slop from the hole being a little to big but its not that bad.

david lamontagn 08.23.2009 11:30 AM

OK good, but i think i'll wait for the FLM one. I'am to order some tires and wheel for my crt.5, but i want to wait for the adapter, because i've a lot of 1/8 buggy wheel and tires sitting here:wink:
