The UE forum is back! :yipi:

nitrostarter 08.13.2009 01:01 AM

Yay!

JERRY2KONE 08.13.2009 01:17 AM

Yes

Yes it is nice to have UE back up and running. Especially since UE and RCM are the only two R/C forums I really enjoy. Good to see that he finally overcame whatever the problem was. That was really weird to be without UE for so long. I sure hope RCM does not have that sort of problem.

Kcaz25 08.13.2009 08:07 AM

Hip-Hip-Horray!

Ue is down again.

I know it is an old thread:whistle:, but the UE Forum is down again:diablo:. I was right in the middle of a sales deal with another member and the site just up and took a crap (oops another MA Lipo pack is born). Well I am not sure what the problem is, but I have already sent an email to Robin, but no answer yet. He just rebuilt the system and got everything relocated to his new location about 6 months ago. Oh well.

MiRatlhed 09.12.2011 10:44 AM

Well this is not a good start to the week, forum is down......

JERRY2KONE 09.12.2011 11:27 AM

Old thread joe

This was an old thread joe. This happened back on 22/April/2011. Robin had things back up within an hour or so. Sometimes he just does not see a problem until one of us shoots him a PM.

MiRatlhed 09.12.2011 11:36 AM

No I mean this morning. I posted a Reply in a thread earlier this morning and then I went to get back on and I cannot connect. I am not having any other problems with any sites, only UE. I only bumped this thread because of my experiences today. Gotta have my UE....LOL!

JERRY2KONE 09.12.2011 12:17 PM

Your right...

Well I'll be dammed. Your right it is down again. Man is he falling asleep at the wheel or what? The store is practically dead, and now the UE site drops off line once a month or so. That is really too bad. I mean unless he starts doing something new everyone is going to abandon the UE forum. I really enjoy the gang of good people in there just like here, but this is getting rediculous. If he is not planning to do anymore product runs, than I have to say it is time to pack it in and call it a day. I still love my UE products, and will probably hang on to them for many years as I plan to be a part of this hobby way into my twilight years, and that is 20-30 years from now.

MiRatlhed 09.12.2011 01:08 PM

Well it was short and sweet, it's back up again. Yeah it is a drag, I wish he would just at least spend 10 minutes once a week to communicate with us. Even if he would just do a run of knuckles and rear upper Racer X arms you know how many people would be stoked. I will be the same way Jerry and be into this hobby for as long as I can. The nice thing about my club is Zane is very excited about taking over the club when he gets older, I will be very happy to have something to hand down to my kids and keep them involved with something that is very fun and rewarding at the same time.

Some locals wonder why I don't want to take my Pred out and beat the snot out of it, well because I will be happy to just have that and my Lightning on the shelf to admire. They will both be RTR but won't be trashed out because they are just that, irreplaceable. They are beautiful trucks, such a shame to see that place going down.

JERRY2KONE 12.07.2011 11:40 AM

Down again

Man this is becoming a regular occurance with UE. I have been trying to connect to the site all day today with no luck. I have two sales deals going and I just placed an order for nearly $200 worth of UE gear. I sent an email to Robin, but no response yet. I do hope its just another clitch and not a final curtain for UE.

Nitronaught 12.07.2011 05:04 PM

Is it really an SQL issue?

Guys, for some reason I'm feeling a bit skeptical about what Robin has told Jerry. Let's take this fomr an I.T. guys, perspecitve....

If I EVER make a change in my SQL databases or any scripts I have a full backup of my system first.

I believe it was someone named "Hippie" who helped him out the last few times his site went down. I even offered help, I happen to know SQL, I work with it every day. Websites as well.

Even if he didn't have a recent backup, he could backup what he had now, rename it, and then restore from his most recent backup and be online in a short amount of time...

I really don't understand the issue if it's an SQL problem. And if it's Vbulletin, it does an automated backup on it's very own, part of the package when it is installed and configured......

I do hope it's something along Robin's issue and I just don't know, something about the info isin't adding up... Or Robin hasn't done any backups for a long time. I would have thought he learned that lesson long ago.

Hey guys!!!! Glad to see your all here!!!!!!

JERRY2KONE 12.07.2011 05:44 PM

Robin

OK after sending a few emails his way Robin finally responded. He said that he did not even know it was down. I could get into the store OK, but the forum side was down. All he said was that he would put it on his "To Do List", whatever that means. Man I bet if RCM went down that MonsterMike would be falling all over himself trying to get it back up. It just seems like he cares less and less about his own site. I think we better start collecting some email addresses when it does come back up, or we may lose touch for good. There are just too many people on UE that I would like to say on the hook with.

George16 12.07.2011 05:51 PM

I hope it comes back up but I'm not going to lose sleep with it. His piss-poor attitude is what's drove people away except for diehards like us.

I still have your email Jerry and other people.

MiRatlhed 12.07.2011 11:17 PM

That is the bummer deal about the entire entity of which is UE, his customer service freaking stinks man....

I have always stuck up for UE and Robin but after this last ordeal with my orders I am done buying from that store. I will respect what I have and move on with the hobby. I love my trucks too much to get treated like that by the creator himself. OH WELL.....not anything I can do about it. Bummer road ahead I do imagine for all of us diehards.

I am happy to be a part of this forum and will continue to come here and join in on the fun.

JERRY2KONE 12.08.2011 01:55 AM

Me too guys.

Yea me too guys. I have always enjoyed UE in general, but Robin got under my skin right from the very start with his poor treatment of his supporters. "Mind your own business", "It's a company secret", and "if you don't like it shop somewhere else" have been his legacy for years. He has no customer service as far as I am concerned. I feel a shamed when I see people from overseas trying to deal with him to buy merchandice from the UE store and put money into his pocket just to receive his poor attitude which has always been pretty much "piss off". He could have had a very profitable company if he would have only treated people better. I was looking around in the store over the weekend when I placed my last order and man does he have a lot of inventory still sitting around collecting dust. He reporduced the easy stuff and got left holding the bag, because the stuff that is realy important he will not make more of. I am collecting what I need to make sure that my toys will have backup parts for years to come, but waiting for the day when he finally says everything must go at 50% off just to clear out his stocks. It feels closer than any of us wants to think of. I too will live on and will not lose any sleep over him closing up shop, but it is all so sad to watch him drive UE into the ground the way he has. He could have taken UE into the next decade easily with just a little friendliness and proper support by reproducing some of the really good stuff. Setback arms are great, but without chassis to put them on what good are they. That is why they sold in such small numbers. The UE Servo saver was one of his best inventios, but finding one now is almost impossible. I have stocked up on them as well as spare parts for keeping them working.

Hey Jerry,

Not to worry, you can always contact me through this forum though. I will send the bearings once the check is cleared. :)

JERRY2KONE 12.08.2011 10:13 AM

Thank you sir

Thanks Mothman. I was kind of worried, because I did not know how to communicate with you outside of UE. According to BoA you should receive the check today.

Klausen 12.08.2011 02:41 PM

Can't enter the forum either, hope it is back up soon. Agree about the missing service for us overseas. Never really understood why Robin wouldn't take foreign creditcards (Visa/Mastercard etc.) or Paypal. So I am glad I have you guys and Ebay ;o)

But I guess most UE members are also members here, and I am sure Mike will take good care of us in the future.

JERRY2KONE 12.08.2011 04:55 PM

Two days

Well its been two days now since the UE forum went down, and nothing from Robin yet. All he told me the first day was that he was going to put it on his "To do" list, whatever that means. The store is still up, but no activity there either. I placed an order before the forum went down, but it is still pending. Its just sad that things have been left to get to this point.

MiRatlhed 12.09.2011 10:45 AM

Man it is still down. Anxiety peaking here....haha I quit drinking and that was easier than no more UE......:na:

Seriously though, this could be the end....... :surprised:

JERRY2KONE 12.09.2011 03:43 PM

Fear.

Truly, this too has been my fear:gasp:. Living without UE is not something that I wish to do either:eyes:. This has been tense, and I have never seen UE down for days like this:neutral:. Of course without any kind of communication from within it appears uncertain:oops:, and even torturous:diablo:. BUT I have good news from the depths of UE:yes:. I received this just this evening.

QUOTE: Its coming back. Just having some technical issues….order will be filled today.

Regards,

Robin

For me, what a relief. I to have not always been happy with the way Robin fails to communicate with his customers, but I am happy to have recieved this note from him:party:. I hope to see UE back up soon, and I will be thankful to see my order on its way. YES there is a God of R/C and it is "Unlimited Engineering".

JERRY2KONE 12.10.2011 09:30 AM

Going on six years now.

Yea I have been floatig around in here for going on six years now. I have not been as active as I once was, but that is only because I was without a job for a while. No cash no play. I have had to take a bit of a break to regroup and go at this a little bit slow coming back and keep my hobby budget reasonable. I have been trying to get myself back in the game and find some good batteries as the prices have been dropping, but every week I find another deal on second hand UE gear and can not pass up on the great deals. Plus I have to invest in a really good charging system with a worthy power supply, which will not be cheap either. Adding to this delema trying to get any kind of Lipos through the USPS mail system is getting harder and harder to accomplish due to shipping resrictions on lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries. I will find a way, but it will take some time to overcome the situation.

Anyway I do enjoy being on RCM just as much as the UE forum, but most of my toys are geared towards the UE name. Along with all of my UE toys I do have a full on RCM SuperMaxx with dual Dewalt 18volt motors mounted on it, and man this thing is a beast of a machine. It looks like it could go right through a brick wall, and our two boys are dying toget their hands on it. Well at least RCM is still in the game making new gear and trying to evolve, where UE is bearly hanging on.

Nitronaught 12.13.2011 02:16 PM

I sent off an email to Robin and got a reply in like an hour...... Fastest reply I've gotten from UE EVER!!!! Here's what he said about the forum being down....

Everytime i ordered something. Once paymeny cleared i got a tracking number and a email saying it has been shipped. Everytime i emailed robin he would either email me back later or next day. Maybe i just catch him at a good time.

JERRY2KONE 12.13.2011 05:40 PM

This is true

Yes this is true for me to. He usually answers my emails within a day or two. Plus when I have placed an order with the UE store it usually ships wthin a few days, excpet for this one. It finally shipped today after about a week, and just about everything was shipped as well. Its good to hear that he has someone working on the technical issues for the forum. We shall see.
