I was planning running maxx size rears and buggy fronts.
The pegs will probably be alright. The little dude doesnt weigh anything and he folds up at all the joints and is made of some rubber like stuff. But I will probably still put some washers like you said on the inside. |
The BIG and Littles sound like a great idea !
Imex has a couple tires that could easily pass for a ATV tire for the rear ? http://www.imexrc.com/servlet/the-18/imex-tires/Detail I have a set of these for my Erevo and they are great tires ! http://www.imexrc.com/servlet/the-16/imex-tires/Detail |
Whats the diameter on those tires? I need to find a set of buggy tires and a set of truggy/maxx tires roughly the same diameter so it doesnt look goofy. Know what I mean?
|
My Dirt Dawgs are 5-3/8" tall

I need to find a combo that roughly the same diameter. I may have to try narrowing a set of maxx size wheels and tires. |
The tire is a tick under 1" tall, gonna have a hard time finding something shorter and scale ?
Again, possibly Proline V3's and the back and regular buggy in front ? Same height butrears will be a little wider. |
May have to end up going that route. I was wanting beadlocks at least in the rear though for the scale look also.
|
Just had another idea. Wonder if I take a Maximizer beadlock and take say half a inch or so out of the middle so its half a inch narrower and leave the tire alone wonder how it would look. May have to do some trimming and stuff to the foam but it should be a little narrower and also balloon the tire up a little bit like a 1:1 quad front tire. Get what Im saying?

Still in the same predicament though. It aint the diameter of the wheel its the width. I need some rought the same diameter just buggy width in the front and maxx width out back. I believe my only options are the v2 and v3 buggy wheels or do some custom stuff. May end up going the custom route as I want beadlocks.
|
Ben down the road doing custom rims, pain in the ass. What ever you decide on I'm sure It'll be cool and look scale.
|
Yea, I found a good deal on a set of Maximizer beadlocks so I will probably pick them up and just go with the flow. Should turn out good.
Next things is color. What color should I paint the body? Black, White, or silver/grey? |
A light color would be great to contrast the black chassis. What your favorite ATV,
paint it that color ? Do a Google image search for ATV to get some ideas. |
Yea, I am leaning towards the white.
|
I would do white as well. slim chance I would pick black..
Would be killer to replicate the The orange/black special edition Yamaha YZF450... |
spray on mud!!
|
And its white.

Maxx size wheels & tires, with the front narrowed, and beadlocks really makes it look right!
The head of the rider is even hooked up so that it turns as the front wheels turn...so cool! http://www2.worldpub.net/images//qua.../studio_lg.jpg http://www2.worldpub.net/images//qua...action1_lg.jpg http://www2.worldpub.net/images//qua...action2_lg.jpg |
Yea, Im going to try the maxx size wheels. I got a set of Maximizer beadlocks the other day. Just need some more money to buy the rest of the parts.
His head doesnt move with the steering. lol You can turn it in any direction and it will stay there though. |
In the build-up in the Traxxas Pit-Pass I thought I remembered him modifying Steve to make his head move with the steering? That's why he made the special "seat" for him to sit on.
Cool none-the-less! [Here] is the build. |
