Yes, good maitenance will give very long life of the motor(s).

boss 302 02.12.2006 09:38 PM

the motors will last forever if you treat them properly

Sylvester 02.12.2006 09:39 PM

Not forever, the brushes will go after 3-4 years MAX after being used.

I Agree

yes i do have a gas truck the noise isn't a big problem but yes the gas spilling and spitting everywhere is kinda hard to clean. yea my next project is going to be a nice revo conversioned bl or an e-maxx bl but thats in the works for more in the future. right now my gas truck is fine no problems yet.keeping it clean by having it a road only truck.......:013: :018:

one thing that bugs me is the charging.....gas you can wait 10 min to cool and go run again......but if you have a pro charger then dont mind this quote

i spray my electric motors with trinity electric cleaner after every use. i put new brushes in them whenever they lose contact. do the mod motors use up batteries faster though? i'd put a 9t in the stampede to liven it up if it'll run as long as my quad mag 19t

mike if its running so hot that you need to let it cool your probably running too lean or just not getting enough air to the motor. cut a hole in the windshield. for a small block i run around 240-260 most of the time but run up to 280 whenever im racing someone usually. 300 and your gonna be on the edge of damaging the piston/sleeve. big blocks tend to run cooler so i still at 230-240. you said about spilling gas there is a fuel gun you could get if your spilling it while filling the tank. if your spitting a lot of fuel out of it chances are your too rich...thats why the nitro gods invented the temp guage...never run without using one.

wish, he isnt running a body, and he doesnt tune frequently so tuning is his deal there.

HotnCold 02.12.2006 11:01 PM

The hotter wind the motor the more current draw. Im not sure how much more - but the hotter the motor - the more current they draw..

Sylvester 02.12.2006 11:21 PM

Yea, the less current drawn, the less heat:)

ya i took my truck in a park to run for a tank ....it was cold outside and litteraly like -10degrees celcuis thats cold....and it stayed cool throughout the whole run it was great!:018:

Does this apply to what we are talking about? :032: :032:

It's all down to personal preferance, Each have there strengths/weaknesses when it comes to choosing Nitro or Electric.

I prefer Nitro, I dont mind the noise (enjoy it actually :D ) & i dont wanna be carrying a bag of batteries if i go off somewhere. Although the name "Nitro" to some of you is summit that is highly flammable, its not as flammable as some of you might think, When you buy nitro for a truck/car etc it contains a % of nitro (between 10 - 20%)..the rest is oil/additives which are not highly flammable... Nitro is no where near as flammable as normal petrol/gas.

But even so, it is still flammable, so common sense will go a long way! ...eg: Hanging over your fuel tank/bottle wit a ciggy hanging out ya gob is NOT a bright idea ;)

In saying this i no longer run Nitro's, Ive moved to large scale gas, Nitro was good while it lasted :) ...but with gas theres no fiddly tuning of the carb, once its set it's done no matter what the conditions, alot more power from a 26cc engine than any nitro engine & nothing better than watching a 1/6 scale rip up the dirt! :D

But like i said, its all down to personal pref, what might be your idea of "the best" is someone elses "worse" :)
