Not to be morbid, but what popped into my head when I saw the new boat was , challeneger. 450hp in a dual hulled radio shack boat, id put a ziplock baggy or a couple empty water bottles full of air in it so it wont sink and you can get most of it back lol. a fishing rod with a cats bean bag toy on the end of the line always worked for getting my boats back.
|
I really hope you used some sort of precision tool to make sure the front half is on straight. If it's not you will only have more problems than before.

Just tested it! It really needs 2 things:
1. Weight in the front! 2. MORE WATERPROOFING!!! it run for 5 mins before it started turning off from water in the ESC :oh: but, nothing's damaged as for as i know. the bars on the side kick up a ton of water in the curves making water flow in the part boat right above it were i couldn't tape it up! But with 10 glue sticks holding it togather, it prob doesn't need those bars. The best part is that it turns even better than last time!!!! |
more boat modding!! lol this should (fingers crossed) be it!
so....to keep the front down, i added 2 of these nuts and a smaller one in the very front of the boat (yes, it still floats, pretty well actually) http://i29.tinypic.com/nv4pck.jpg It make sure the front end doesn't try to go underwater when i let off the throttle, i added this to push the front up if it goes too far down http://i30.tinypic.com/29xgokn.jpg last time i tested it, the leaked bad and the bars on the side would drag in the water and with the extra weight, it would only be worse! so i took the bars off (knowing that their should be plenty of glue holding it togather) and taped up the sides and holes in the back boat (left the screws in the front boat becouse it would be way too hard to get to them and they are sealed from the inside anyway. not to mention that they are right above the water wile running and they dig in in curves and lower speeds splashing water up, should be a good effect) http://i26.tinypic.com/2a69lj4.jpg then, to kelp keep the back down, i found 2 long, bent peices of pretty thick aluminum, so i put them on the back at a slight angle to catch and throw water up. http://i26.tinypic.com/5n43f8.jpg http://i26.tinypic.com/fn4jzk.jpg and done! once again. i will test it saturday! http://i27.tinypic.com/j6trmp.jpg http://i29.tinypic.com/30c2ed3.jpg |
I know you put the wing on the front to solve one problem, but once you get going fast (which you will) that wing will actually negate effect of those big nuts you put in the nose ot the boat. Other than that it looks pretty good. You might as well just cover the whole boat in duct tape to be sure it's waterproof...
|

and i was thinking of duct taping the hole top to make it a silver boat:lol: |
Dude I think you made the world's first water-semi.... that thing needs a foghorn!
|
Concerning the wing- normally they provide downforce, but when you flip it upside-down it creates lift. So when you get going fast that upside-down wing is going to lift the boat up out of the water.
|
I pity the prop lol.

http://tinypic.com/r/or54zn/3 the steering servo just all of a suden stoped working less than 1min into the run. the boat is trying to flip to the right so i'm going to build something to prevent that. how you guys like the new wing? the old one fell off http://i31.tinypic.com/nyecyu.jpg |
-lol- u need more room!!
Try a U-shape piece and stick it to the bottom of the boat sideways on the left side of the hull - it should help holding the left side down in the water.... actually - that might cause it to steer to the left.... i dunno man -lol- |
