I wonder if it would be posible to get like 2 of the origanal caliente boat and put them togather to give me a very long, more stable boat. the first caliente boat was longer and close to half as wide as the second one that i used

Mine was a Radio Shack Tsunami.

lol i've decided to take the first MMM boat i tried to build and mount it to the front of the new one to make it longer and keep it from comming out of the water. but i am afraid that it will not be able to turn well

A RC Dude 08.27.2009 08:44 PM

attaching the 2nd boat. i'm going to be doing a ton of mounting, glueing, foaming and sealing! lol

no, everything is mounted in the wider, thiner boat the same way it was before just in case something happens and the first boat breaks off or something, i can drive the boat back and posibly use it to retreive the other one and get it all back without any damage to the pricy parts! i'm just going to add a little weight in the front to keep it down.

Maybe i should get a lot of lights and put then in the front car with their battery! lol

Not to be morbid, but what popped into my head when I saw the new boat was , challeneger. 450hp in a dual hulled radio shack boat, id put a ziplock baggy or a couple empty water bottles full of air in it so it wont sink and you can get most of it back lol. a fishing rod with a cats bean bag toy on the end of the line always worked for getting my boats back.

What's_nitro? 08.29.2009 01:21 AM

I really hope you used some sort of precision tool to make sure the front half is on straight. If it's not you will only have more problems than before.

yea, i was planning on putting a lot of stuff in it like foam and or bottles to keep it up if it flies apart. but, at the least bit of a sign or feeling of it doing something bad, i'm slowing down or stopping it!

yea, i mesured everything with a steel ruller and marked with my rimming tool and when i mounted everything, i looked over everything and it was strait and did line up as far as i could tell.

ALMOST DONE!!! :intello::yipi::party:

I had to cut the top of the first boat a little to get it to fit:

but, i still have to do some waterproofing to the first boat!

Hey man, don't forget to add some sort of floatation in there, like foam or the like - good luck! =)

Wow, haha, when i first joined the traxxas forum when i was 12 (i think), i wanted something like this that to happen but never thought it would. since then though, i really don't care very much for all the popularity, back then i was a nobody but not i just love to have fun regardless what ppl think and what do you know? Now i've got all the friends and all that i always wanted:party: p.s. yea, i knew you were joking, but i'm still not really going to risk it, i'll have a friend (or me) their ready to jump in after it.

just saw today that out of a 24 stick bag of hot glue, i've used about 12-15 sticks just on keeping the boats togather! haha i don't think it's going anyware! but then again, 40mph with that much weight........idk better to be safe!

oh, and i'm only 16 by the way lol can you tell about what i'm going to major in in collage and all? haha

Peter Zicha 09.01.2009 03:22 AM

A RC Dude 09.02.2009 07:17 PM

Just tested it! It really needs 2 things:

1. Weight in the front!
2. MORE WATERPROOFING!!!

it run for 5 mins before it started turning off from water in the ESC :oh: but, nothing's damaged as for as i know. the bars on the side kick up a ton of water in the curves making water flow in the part boat right above it were i couldn't tape it up! But with 10 glue sticks holding it togather, it prob doesn't need those bars.

The best part is that it turns even better than last time!!!!

A RC Dude 09.03.2009 09:49 PM

more boat modding!! lol this should (fingers crossed) be it!

so....to keep the front down, i added 2 of these nuts and a smaller one in the very front of the boat (yes, it still floats, pretty well actually)
http://i29.tinypic.com/nv4pck.jpg

It make sure the front end doesn't try to go underwater when i let off the throttle, i added this to push the front up if it goes too far down
http://i30.tinypic.com/29xgokn.jpg

last time i tested it, the leaked bad and the bars on the side would drag in the water and with the extra weight, it would only be worse! so i took the bars off (knowing that their should be plenty of glue holding it togather) and taped up the sides and holes in the back boat (left the screws in the front boat becouse it would be way too hard to get to them and they are sealed from the inside anyway. not to mention that they are right above the water wile running and they dig in in curves and lower speeds splashing water up, should be a good effect)
http://i26.tinypic.com/2a69lj4.jpg

then, to kelp keep the back down, i found 2 long, bent peices of pretty thick aluminum, so i put them on the back at a slight angle to catch and throw water up.
http://i26.tinypic.com/5n43f8.jpg
http://i26.tinypic.com/fn4jzk.jpg

and done! once again. i will test it saturday!

What's_nitro? 09.03.2009 10:13 PM

I know you put the wing on the front to solve one problem, but once you get going fast (which you will) that wing will actually negate effect of those big nuts you put in the nose ot the boat. Other than that it looks pretty good. You might as well just cover the whole boat in duct tape to be sure it's waterproof...

No, the wing wile the boat sits it just barly touching the water, once it started to move at about 8mph, the boat rises ontop of the water and the wing will be .5-1in off the water

and i was thinking of duct taping the hole top to make it a silver boat:lol:

redshift 09.03.2009 10:31 PM

Dude I think you made the world's first water-semi.... that thing needs a foghorn!

What's_nitro? 09.03.2009 10:33 PM

Concerning the wing- normally they provide downforce, but when you flip it upside-down it creates lift. So when you get going fast that upside-down wing is going to lift the boat up out of the water.

redshift 09.03.2009 10:35 PM

I pity the prop lol.

it has one! it's called the motor at a low speed! in the water, the boat makes a nice rumble at low speeds

yes, it's only going to be on their untill i see that the boat is capable of getting to a good speed or that i see it doesn't need it. then i will take it off (it's only taped on)

test video
http://tinypic.com/r/or54zn/3

the steering servo just all of a suden stoped working less than 1min into the run. the boat is trying to flip to the right so i'm going to build something to prevent that.

how you guys like the new wing? the old one fell off
http://i31.tinypic.com/nyecyu.jpg

danhfvcsd 09.05.2009 08:18 PM

-lol- u need more room!!

Try a U-shape piece and stick it to the bottom of the boat sideways on the left side of the hull - it should help holding the left side down in the water....

actually - that might cause it to steer to the left.... i dunno man -lol-
