You wont get much more speed out of the xl's unless you use more cells, thats why me and others went with the "L" can .

neweuser 03.02.2006 01:56 PM

sounds good...thanks. which do you like better, the 9L or 10L?

maxxdude1234 03.02.2006 03:14 PM

I would look at an XL motor. They will run more efficiently than an L motor, and if you want stupid power in the future they could push your truck well towards 60mph with higher cell counts.

pcnutz 03.02.2006 03:19 PM

I like the 10L in my maxx, g2r, and twinforce

just a question, how can a XL can be more efficient with more wire resistance?

neweuser 03.02.2006 03:24 PM

Stupid power? lol
if it don't put my hair back...then i may as well get my wheel chair now!!! too many decisions!

maxxdude1234 03.02.2006 03:30 PM

lol neweuser. pcnutz, the resistance of a given L motor is the same resistance of the same XL motor. Check out this table (at the bottom) http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl...l%3Den%26lr%3D
See how the resistance of the L motors and XL motors are pretty much identical. However, XL motors are more efficient because they run cooler (better heat distribution) and they have a higher kt rating and don't need to pull as much current.

pcnutz 03.02.2006 03:42 PM

dunno about that chart, why would a bigger motor with more wire have less resitance

neweuser 03.02.2006 03:44 PM

again i have to say thanks to macfjej, he referred me here and it has been most helpful! and to you maxxdude...i anticipate my project being awhile, but i think with all the info and specs from you guys, it'll be pretty decent!

maxxdude1234 03.02.2006 04:03 PM

pcnutz, although the wires are longer they are also thicker. With higher turn motors, there are more turns (longer wire) and the wire also becomes thiner, hence resistance increases and less current draw.

my next step is to mount motor and batteries for balance, whats the best way todo this

Sylvester 03.03.2006 08:07 AM

On those chassis, it looks like gmaxx straps would work perfectly, how many cells are you running? looks good so far.

pcnutz 03.03.2006 08:09 AM

I am using 7 cells each side with twinforce batt cages slung under, need to figur out how to balance the truck to mount them

pcnutz 03.03.2006 08:29 PM

still getting it done, just to let you know what I have for it

torpedo chassi
flm hybrid bulks with kyosho buggy gears, kania tcd diff in front
UE shock towers
proline suspention with power stroke shocks
RPM knuckels with 15mm bearings
titanium front skid
titanium cvds front and rear
rc alloy rear center and twin front center cvd
traxxas alumium hexes
BK wanderer 8xl
shulze 18.97 esc
twinforce batt cages slung under
twwinforce chain drive trans worked perfect fit
14 gp3300

When the video coming out? Sounds like a cool combo and looks cool to.

well I finaly got it together. but I got alot more work togo. the motor is kinda slow on 12 cells and 18/50 on the twin trans going to have to rework my 14 with longer power wires to reach from under the chassi and go up 2 teeth on the pinion, but so far I am happy with the setup

Looks like an interesting project!
Unrelated to the build, but you really need to
a) get a better camera, and
b) resize your pics! Even on T1 at work, it's taking forever to view your pics.

boss 302 03.16.2006 03:27 PM

really? the pictures came up on my computer in less than a second

squeeforever 03.16.2006 04:41 PM

mines instant on 5mbps.

pcnutz 03.16.2006 04:44 PM

he is just usen AOL high speed technology, but I do need a better camera

pcnutz 03.16.2006 05:31 PM

well I have made it too my 3rd test run and after ole Country helped me out with some settings I am pretty happy with my temps 140 on motor and 110 on esc in 50 degree outside with the top off. kinda sad still not getting the wheely action like I get off my dual 9L

coolhandcountry 03.16.2006 05:49 PM

well i do what I can to help you. Can't garuntee nothing though. I can only try.

your on crack get a xl motor and find out

Superemaxx89 03.21.2006 12:49 AM

word.

coolhandcountry 03.21.2006 07:47 AM

How is the project coming pc nutz? Did you get gearing and stuff right?

pcnutz 03.21.2006 08:24 AM
