Allright, here is the new CC Blower!
It is made of all plastic (seems pretty sturdy), so it's only a fan and shroud, no heatsink. The plug is a standard servo plug with red/black wires (no signal wire of course). The wire is a bit smaller gauge than standard servo wire, would have been nice to have a little bit thicker wire. The shroud over the fan seems to have an intake of sorts, almost like the blower on the hood of a hot-rod. The top of the fan is open so I'm not sure how functional this intake will be, but maybe there is a reason Castle put it on there. If you look at the way the plastic case is shaped it almost looks like they were trying to make it look like a V8 engine (could just be my imagination though) The fan uses a DC brushless motor. It's rated for 5V and will draw 140mA at that voltage. The fan model number is YM0503PVS1. It has a small logo on the label but I'm not familiar with it, maybe someone can make it out in the picture. Now I just have to get my E-revo back together so I can actually test this thing! http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...3/P1020452.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...3/P1020453.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...3/P1020454.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...3/P1020458.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...3/P1020456.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...3/P1020455.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...3/P1020460.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...3/P1020459.jpg |
the shroud could be made of aluminum so heat would be dissipated better :(

that would cost$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $ |
lol, it does look like a V engine... one with a HUGE crankcase.
|
same fan as the mmm. oh well it will work for a while at least
|
As much of the motor as it covers up, I worry that it will only add to the heat problems.

I know. Check out my thread in the tekin forum. I have checked EVERYTHING. It just runs hot!

I guess 8ights just dont like running right  |
I recieved a couple of them today and tried them out on various motors to see what they fit. One thing I noticed was it is basically a shroud and relies on the cans cooling fins for output venting. So smooth can motors may not vent as well, or I guess you could drill some holes, but I think the logic was to blow air around as much of the can as possible before venting.
Pictures: http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...castle_neu.jpg Fits perfectly on a Neu-Castle http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...rk413/1515.jpg Fits on a finned Neu 1515 perfectly as well http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...rk413/1512.jpg And a finned Neu 1512 (same diameter) http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...413/1515sq.jpg Doesn't fit on a 1515 Tekno-Neu square can - Duh http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r115/shark413/t8.jpg Fits pretty good on a Tekin T8 http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...rk413/1509.jpg Fits ok on a smooth can Neu 1509 (a little loose) http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...413/feigao.jpg Worked ok on a Feigao http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...k413/cms36.jpg Too big for a Castle CMS36 can http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...ark413/540.jpg Way too big for a 540 sized can http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...13/venting.jpg And the only output venting is via the ribs on the can. |
man that fan has been around already! what a "$@re lol
|
lol does it cool much ?
|
So do these work or what ? Will they fit the TORK motor ?

Tork motor has much longer cooling 'pins' vs the shorter fins around the afforementioned motors, so you would have to stretch it so much that it might break/ split.
You could stick the motor in a lathe though I suppose.... |
Actually IT DOES fit the Tork motor ! My son just got his and yes you do have too stretch it on kinda but it looks good and works GREAT ! Much cooler now than it was without , though we were only hitting the 140's before , but he wanted it for the cool factor . And I must say , it does look pretty cool !
|
Can the fan be turned around in the shroud, so the wire is closer to the reciver & facing the FR of the vehicle ?.
|
Damn, that definitely won't fit on a Flux. Owell.....

Exactly  |
He he he...
Well, looks fine on there, so I stand corrected* *actually, Im sitting down eating tuna & mayo sandwiches, but anyways... |
Seems like I need one of these blowers for my hot GTP.
|
Just got my blower today, now that cold weather is here lol.
Guess i will find out if it works next summer,Man I hope it warms up |
the blowers are junk if you ask me. It did drop temps by about 15F, but it self destructed after one run. lost a blade, then had a HSCA. (high speed come apart.)
|
fans:whip::whip:
|
The fan is junk then, not the blower itself- sounds like a familiar issue...
Shouldnt be an issue getting a more durable aftermarket fan for the blower (common size), but the question is do you really want the blower that baddly, or was it just an impulse purchase?... ('that looks cool, I want one...'). |

Does anyone know the dimensions of the fan? Can it be removed to replace if the fans spoils?
|
OK, its about 60* outside and I just got back in from my 2nd test run,My temps were 160-175 running in grass (trigger happy) Now with the blower, I max out at 115 and I cant get it any hotter. These temps don't seem realistic. I am using on-board telemetry and a temp gun. So far I love this thing.I am going to do some more testing to confirm these numbers, like I said (unrealistic)

I really wish this could fit on my Flux
