I noticed that too... I knew it, the scrapped metallover's flaming can and went with the chromed design

Patrick Sending you a Pm with a few questions

bruce750i 10.08.2009 12:55 PM

What else is revealed in this photo? Whats that rubber coupling device? Dynamometer? And who's arm is that? Anyone we know? I wish my office looked like that.

Hmm, good guess by me! Do you plan to replace the cm35 motors with the 13 series? Or will you just sell them separately?

I think the 13 series would be a better option, the finned can (figured CC would stick with finned cans for the car motors) would be about the same diameter as a regular 540 can (36mm OD). Plus the smaller diameter rotor will spin up faster, and the 4 pole design will have plenty of torque.

But it is another motor that exists!

nitrostarter 10.08.2009 01:09 PM

Looks like something that bolts into a 1/5 scale chassis...

Pdelcast- are these new 13 series going to be ROAR approved? Castle could really use some ROAR motors to use with the MMP for a perfect system.

That's exactly why i asked specifically for a smaller motor, better torque band for 1/10 cars. The 14 series is only a 15 series with a slimmer can

Home made very high RPM dynamometer.

That's Castle Mike's arm.

I really like how when a picture is posted here, so many people notice and identify every single factor in the pic....

Some sensored 4 pole motors would be very cool. The MMP with a low kv motor could also be packaged as a crawler/low speed setup. Sensored outrunner motors or a hybrid style (think align but better made) motor would be great for anything that needs good low speed control (robotics applications also). As versatile as the MMP is a good selection of motor designs/styles would be very nice! And CC pricing is great too!

The 14 series always seemed like a bad idea, too close to the 15 series, not much benefit.

A 10th scale 4 pole sensored motor? ROAR allows them.

Yea, I'm wanting one as well.

riverat1540 10.08.2009 04:24 PM

this is what i have been looking for, 1717 is definatly on my list for my heavy ass muggy as well

bcltoys 10.09.2009 06:10 AM

What about lower kv 1515 size motors like 2.5d size

himalaya 10.13.2009 05:02 AM

Does the 1717 share same 25mm screw spacing as the 1515-2200KV ? M4 threaded?

Thought I'm going to cancel my plan of buying two 2200s for my 115cm Catamaran, but switch to the coming big boys.

Note the front endbells differ in these two pics, looks more like a heli motor having vent holes. Also the fin shape, it had a flattened area but disapeared in Patrick's pic.

That's the difference between the heli version and the car version. The cuts on the fins are to make the motor slim enough on the heli version to fit between the frame rails on a TRex-600. There are also vent holes in the end-bell on the heli version.

So, are these for sale yet, or is that site linked above not real?

Well, the Heli version is for sale.

The car version is now in stock (very limited qty) at Castle, but we don't have packaging for it yet. We'll have it on the website for purchase very soon.

We also have 1512/1.5Y (1800Kv), 1518/1Y (1850Kv), and 1520/1Y (1650Kv) motors in stock now in very limited quantity. But again, the packaging is not available yet, and they won't be available for purchase from dealers until we have more stock available, and packaging is available.

BrianG 11.04.2009 12:30 PM

Wow, that's really nice to hear! It's nice to have more options other than the 1512 and 1515 1y's. If I had known it was that close to release, I would have waited to get the new motor for my XT8. I ended up getting a Tekin 1700 truggy motor because the kv of the Medusa I was using (2000) was just too high for the gearing options on that truck.

snellemin 11.04.2009 12:30 PM

How about a ziplock bag and some foam for packaging and I'll buy one.

suicideneil 11.04.2009 01:01 PM

Cardboard postal tube & some bubble wrap will do the trick!

Is there a photo or silhoutte diagram (with diamensions) of the various motors side by side, just so we/I can get a visual idea of how they all compare- didnt know a 1520 was in the lineup?

We'll offer them early from our website. I'll post a link up when they are available. We don't have enough stock (just 60 pcs of each I think...) to push them through distribution yet, but we have more coming by sea from China right now.

Thanx!

Patrick

riverat1540 11.04.2009 01:30 PM

very nice, i need to sell something fast as i want one,lol

Here you go...

From left to right -- 1520 / 1Y / 1500Kv -- 1518 / 1Y / 1800Kv -- 1512 / 1.5Y / 1800Kv -- 1717 / 1Y / 1580Kv

that 1717 has muggy written all over it, the 1520 looks appealing as well

Mighty Mamba Monster Max Pro Black Edition?

MMMMPBE?

BrianG 11.04.2009 06:27 PM

I think we need to start shorting the Mamba name a bit:

Mamba=M1
Mamba Max=M2
Mamba Max Pro=M2.5
Mamba Monster=M3
The "super" Mamba=M4

Beanie 11.04.2009 06:31 PM

From a newb, take it from me that BL/Lipo kit has more than enough acronyms and such already!! :oh:

What do you mean exactly? Is it just for "toys" manufacturers? I'm in Switzerland (not in the European Union) and planning a car to operate on up to 30s LiPo. I've heard that Germany has very strict laws for high voltage.

CE won't allow sales with exposed voltages above 50VDC. So no CE approval for anything designed to work with exposed voltages above the "magic" 50VDC.

BrianG 11.04.2009 07:13 PM

Phsaw! That's easy to get around. Just use two 50v batteries "in parallel" (wink wink) and then when the voltage police aren't looking, pop them in series. And, just underrate the ESC voltage-wise.

I made a promo pic - Truth is I didn't use photoshop or any commercial software. Don't tell anyone.
