Onboard looked great, mixed in with some normal footage you could end up with an awesome vid!
|
I will. Our races are getting slower since people are becoming more involved in other things. It will pick back up in the beginning of the year. I'll definitely get some then.
|
Looks good nitro. I wonder why you have the cam rotated 90* though? I think the cam mounted upright, and just a few degrees down would help. The less light differential these cams have to deal with, the better.
The flourescent lights would appear a little less overexposed I'm thinking, but that may just be the nature of the beast. Other than that the mount seems solid enough and the difference in the GoPro may or may not be worth the extra $ to most people. And I think the GoPro would be less 1/10 scale-friendly as far as mounting options. The race OBV was great, wanna see more of that  |
Yep, I need to rework my mount and mount the camera correctly. I got a good idea from my friend with the GoPro camera and i think i will follow his lead. He basically replaced the battery hold down with a metal plate that the GoPro is mounted to. Its really sturdy and provides a nice view.
There will defintiely be more on board race video. I hope to get more this Thursday. |

I bought one of the keychain cams but made the mistake of not properly reading the link you gave us and ended up with a version 1. I sold it to a workmate and ordered a version 3.
Anyhow since the keychain was no good I made another clip with my act5k. It's a little dissapointing for picture quality, it's big, it's heavy and it was kind of expensive for what it is. On the up side it is meant to be shock resistant ( offset by being big and heavy ) and waterproof to 3m ( or something ). I know youtube is not good for camparisons but anyway..... <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AojCWOrRhXg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AojCWOrRhXg&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> |
Not bad panda, you can tell there's some weight on the onboard view lol.
So I take it you are waiting for the V3 keychain to arrive? |
You can really see the suspension working in that video, certainly makes for a more interesting way to do an action video.

Great find Riley!
This one looks to be the same as the MD80 thumbcam, which I had and mentioned in post #24. So this new one should have much better video I hope. I'll have to look it over better later. Could be a good alternative to the keychain cams which are hard to get consistent specs on. I do believe I'll be a guinea pig  |
Lets hope so!

edit - another good review - http://terracode.com/AEE_MiniDV/AEE_Mini_DV_P1.html This review says it only accepts 8gb sd cards where the hobbycity review claims 16gb. It also looks like it records a little fast. I would like to see a video of a stopwatch or similar to see if the time is right. It just might be the framerate is too slow so it looks fast.. The review I linked to stated they used a nice class 6 SD card (which the card included at hobbycity might be??) and they didn't quite get 30fps. The quality is good enough for me and my $20 tho!! |
Yeah looks like they're trying to avoid some of the same issues that plagued the HK52.
The battery is non removable, but my plan is to scrap those and use a DC-DC converter to power multiple cams. That will eliminate having to charge the cams via USB. I was very impressed with my MD80 before I wrecked it, and $20 is 5X less than I paid, and half the price of the HK52! |
I just ordered a camera; I used regular slow shipping. Now RCM has two guinea pigs.
Not only will this be good for onboard videos of RC trucks, planes, and e-bikes,, but I hope to use this for other video recording also. Hopefully it functions good as an all-purpose camera. I'll make a new thread too; I'll post a link New thread here - http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...414#post348414 |
