That is some very nice run time!! Truggy looks great as well.

ps. With my RC8Te (Neu 1y and MMM) I got 14 mins, but it's a 5A 30/40C LiPo. Ofcourse it depends a lot on the track and situation. I was running in fairly loose dirt.

itbvolks 04.27.2010 01:46 PM

That is some pretty awesome battery life at race pace. Dirt looks fairly loose so probably helped a little there.

Truck looks great. Gotta sort a center diff issue but ready to get some track time for sure!

wallot 04.27.2010 03:30 PM

actually traction with M3 calibers was OK, tried softer AKA cityblocks and had too much traction to my liking. next race is next weekend so will see how the truck does after suspension tweaking

wallot 04.28.2010 04:51 PM

next race I plan to try JC Crosshairs as they worked great on a buggy and they should be as light as proline VTRs

That looks like a hell of heat for first nice runnnin

Final truck update - M2C front and rear blocks.
I use M2C blocks on my buggy and they allow the suspension to move super free and make diff maintenance much easier.

itbvolks 05.05.2010 02:04 PM

I need to order the same. Unfortunetly, they are out of the front kit so waiting on that...

Seems like a solid setup.

portyansky 05.07.2010 09:33 AM

I wasnt sure if i should go 5s or 6s with a 1700kv motor. How do you find your power? Got any videos? Is 5s enough? Thinking about going 5000 5s or 5000 6s. both will be 40c.

MikeW 05.07.2010 09:59 AM

Hey Jeff, I'm running a 1550KV in my buggy on 5S, and it is plennnty but very smooth and controllable.

I would go with a 1350kv and 6s in a truggy or 1550 and 5S.

Yeah, 5s on a 1700 is good. That's what I run and it's great. 6s would be too many RPMs on the 1700 in my opinion. If you have the choice though, I would suggest the 1350 on 6s, but maybe not the huge 5000 6s pack. The 5s 5000 equivalent in a 6s is going to be more like a 4000 or 4300.

wallot 05.07.2010 11:31 AM

I run 3300mah G3 hyperions and they are more than OK. 5S is about right for 1700kv. very fast but controllable.

portyansky 05.07.2010 11:35 AM

Of course everything but the batts are on b.o. Grrrr!!!!!

So. This motor with the MMM and a 6s I will be set.
Thanks guys, sorry for the thread hijack.

How long can you go on that batt?

MikeW 05.07.2010 11:38 AM

That's the motor Jeff, see ya at the DORC track...

Thanks Mike. Now I hope everything will be instock in time

wallot 05.07.2010 12:24 PM

about 13-14 minutes depending on track. we run 10minute mains so no need for heavier battery and VX G3 hyperions are able to push enough amps even from low capacity battery

Does these fit the MBX6T?
So the M2C ones perform better than the stock MBX6T ones?

M2c toe blocks fit both buggy and truggy.

did some testing during today's race and Proline bulldog body gives bit more corner speed compared to jconcepts punisher

You need an orange, yellow, or blue wing...that red just doesn't fit the body's paint-scheme.

Nice wallot! Truck looks well sorted...

Was at the track Friday night working on getting the truck sorted. Ran well. No prob with the 1700kv setup on 5s. Batts, esc about 90* and motor came off about 130*. Perfectly acceptable for me...

I did manage to break an aluminum front axle though. Right where the pin passes through for the 17mm hub assembly.

Wondering if this is/was a hard hit fluke failure or if you/others have seen similar failures with the aluminum mugen axles?

I've got my proline BD body in hand and need to get it painted. Me likes! Yours looks great out there.

MikeW 05.10.2010 09:04 AM

That's a weak spot, no fluke

itbvolks 05.10.2010 10:21 AM

Steels the way to go then?

Chadworkz 05.10.2010 11:30 AM

Titanium would be the best way to go, if anyone makes them in Ti.

wallot 05.11.2010 05:25 PM

I used the red wing on purpose - it is very hard to miss on the track :)

itbvolks 05.13.2010 02:32 PM

Wallot,

What gearing did you end up with? 16/46 still?

wallot 05.13.2010 05:11 PM

yep 16/16. on one track will use 17/46 as it has huge 100meter straight

itbvolks 05.13.2010 05:14 PM

How does your 1415 Nue compare to the 1515 series stuff for output?

Running my 1700kv T8, I was impressed with the power output and overall speed running on 5s. Temps were about 130* after ~20min.

Curious how the Nue's run?

wallot 05.13.2010 08:46 PM

couple fellow racers use 1515 and we dont see any difference in terms of power.
I do not like T8 as far as power delivery goes. As mentioned in another thread I feel a power hole when going from low to mid RPMs and I like to have a linear response from a motor.
Also Neu is more power efficient compared to T8 (about 10% more) However this was tested by two people with two different trucks and different driving styles :)

I like 1415 as it is lightweight (only ~10oz compared to T8 or 1515 with 12oz and more)

itbvolks 05.14.2010 11:31 AM

What are the dims? They share the same can/rotor specs as the 1515 series?

How have your temps been with that motor? I'm running similar setup to you (1700kv on 5s with 16/46 gearing) and I'm pretty happy with the T8 setup but wouldn't mind hearing more about the nue motor setup.

Sounds like your efficiency is pretty good too based on your run time and batt capacity.

Are you running any varied throttle profile on the RX8? How's your response running sensorless with the neu? Still pretty smooth?

The nue 1518 is also interesting. Several options there for winds.

wallot 05.14.2010 05:27 PM

1415 is 1515 rotor in a smaller can. at least like think. maybe just bit smaller. but who cares :)

linear throttle profile. it is all about throttle control. RX8 is as smooth as it can be.

motor just just warm to the touch after race.

runtime is also thanks to very light car with very light drivetrain (all drivetrain components lightened) and very light tires (VTR Calibers/Revolvers are 200g each, JC Crosshairs 208g and JC Sevens 195g) AKA tires are 220+g and some LPR tires can be over 240g

less rotational mass = less stress onto the motor

1518 is heavy. I rather use lead weights to balance the car than having heavy motor to start with

wallot 05.30.2010 10:16 AM

Great race this weekend. We did run 3 10min qualifiers and 3 10min finals.

Had to use 4200mah battery (the new 45C/90C G3 hyperion) as I did not want to push the 3300mah to the limit. (put back about 3000mah after each run)

Truck still needs some minor adjustments will go from 20-20-8 in diffs to 20-20-10

Rest of the setup will stay the same.

I did redrill rear shock piston holes to 1.5mm so the suspension works faster on a broken track and it did really help.

Had to sold the truck as our BL truggy scene is getting worse and worse. Just too many people who do no know when to slow down so races ended up being more about survival. I am tired of getting ran over by everyone in the first corner after starting from pole position.

Next season I will most likely convert my existing nitro D8 as newbies do not race BL buggies as they are too hard to control :)

Nard Cox 09.14.2010 04:47 AM

''Skoda'' ... you truggy looked sweet and it ran well seeing your N1 finishes ...

123magnus 09.28.2010 11:26 AM

Hey

Are the BCE chassis better than the stock chassis?
