I like the blue idea, my fave color. I am not fond of the black lightning so it may be time for it to go to a new home... I will be looking for a lightly used viper in the coming months... Time for a new toy.

You know as well as me that the old beast would WHOOP that little Lightning.

I'll be honest with you though, I was actually considering Sonic blue. I know, it goes against all my morals to put a Mustang color on a Camaro, but the color is soooo purtty. In all seriousness, how much do you think it would cost for a full paint job? RCM discount of course.
I'd definitely go for a Viper. My dads been trying to find a 96-2000 GTS. They can be had for $25-30k, but finding one that has a clean history and less than 20k miles is HARD.

My axiom, buy low and sell high. I don't buy expensive clothes, and try to keep my living expenses down too. I have side jobs that will pay for alot of my toys. I work alot, but I have a good time mostly. I won't say I love my job but i like the fringe benefits. I don;t take it easy, and I am busy when the sun is out, and try to sleep sometimes.

The viper is what it is, about as close to a shelby cobra replica without having to build it myself (I would nver buy a replica that someone else built, yuk). I bit rough around the edges, but that is its charm to me. I just want something a bit over the top, and it is more sensible to have the wife with me than on my bike. I should be able to score what I want for 25k or so... Maybe less if I can score a good deal. Should get 16+ out of the lightning, so I am getting there. The bike will cover another 6k or so, and I have some pocket money laying around. Plus I have more rc to sell, just need to organize it (shudders).

The wife has me busy organizing the new house, 100 pictures to hang, shelves to move, wire the tvs and hang them, wire the surround sound, etc... Never enough!

Oh, and if you want a Cobra, I know somebody with one waiting to be built. :mdr: Even has a new old stock 427 side oiler to go in it.

lincpimp 03.15.2010 11:23 PM

I can cocktail you up a color that will be neither gm nor ford...

I am not too worried about the milage on the viper. Big motor that is realitively unstressed, 8 liters making 500hp, not really pushing hard. If I can find something with 40-50k miles that was garage kept and recently keyed (or scratched or has some cosmetic issues) that would be great.

This car will have a full custom paint job, the black lightning just got boss stripes in pearl blue and a few things shaved.

Not sure what to ask for the lightning. Maybe 16k, it does have 80k miles on it, but is in excellent shape and i take care of all of the wear items like tires and brakes yearly (yes I change tires and brakes that often, just like how fresh rubber sticks and how fresh brakes bite). It has been my daily driver, but only 16k miles in 4+ years. I plan to get a 4dr f250 with a v10 for towing the trailer around and daily driving and keep the viper for a weekend car. Maybe I am getting old, huh. Have not riden the bike in 6 months now, just gave up I guess.

Hmm, what brand kit? I like the factory five as have built a few for customers... Superformance is nice but a bit too pricey for me. Plus a gts viper would be a bit more "practical" for longer trips to the coast.

And I need to hook you up with my buddy, his lightning did 587hp on the rollers.......before the 150 shot of nos... And now he has the killer chiller on there so that must be worth another 50hp or so due to the drastic drop in charge temps. Very mean, makes my truck run and hide.

Must be 60k in that truck, the interior stuff alone must have cost more than 10k. All custom. And he traded a 03 cobra stang for it, straight up. What a douche, right place at the right time.

That would be great! I've been really trying to figure out what I wanna go with though. I was thinking either a hugger orange or some nice yellow for contrast like the calipers and such. Most blues look great with white, but yellow or orange only work with some, so thats the trouble I'm having with making up my mind on the color.

I hear ya...Tires and brakes don't last long with me either, but thats cause I burn em off and wear em out.

Viper

The Viper is a very unique vehicle for sure. Some do not like them, but I think most of the haters are just bashing it, because they cannot afford something of that caliber. It is what it is, and that is a huge penis machine. That should fit you just fine James:rofl::rofl::rofl:. Sorry I could not resist. The Viper is the best of the best. Have you checked out the insurance on those babies? I can only imagine what the operating expenses would be like on that. Gas? Tires? maintenance? Insurance? Weekly tickets? Kind of hard not to let your right foot get lazy and just cruise. Might as well live it up while you can. None of knows when the end will come.:eyes:

Its a Legendary Auto. They were based in Florida. I don't think there around anymore though.

Serious man, I couldn't hang with that thing. With the turbo yes, but I pulled it off and the motor going in it is just a stock LS1 with a huge cam and full boltons and such. Should be around 430 to the wheels and if I need more, I'll throw the nitrous back on it. :mdr:

Yeah, ins will be higher than the lightning and given the parts cost I will have full coverage. Usually carry comp without collision (I own an autop body shop so i get to fix my own mistakes...)

As far as tires, I go thru a set in 4k miles usually, either worn out or more likely riddled with nails. Just my luck. Gas cannot be much worse than the lightning, 12mpg... Pretty good about avoiding the cops. We have some good cop free roads and street running is popular enough to have organized times that the cops do not know about.

Hey, everyone could do with a few extra inches, and if the viper does that, well so be it. I consider that a fringe benefit, and who cares how big you dong is when you go by so fast it makes the ricers heads spin. I have never had an issue with a nice car, unless some stuck-up pompus douche knozzle owns it.

How much does he want for that cobra?

I will run you with the zx12r... A little faster than the lightning so it should handle that f body. I have seen the high side of 190, and it should do a high 9 sec qtr with a warm tire and dry tarmac. Maybe low 10s as I am a bit on the hefty side, but it helps with the wheelies!

Now if my buddy has his way i will have a ported blower, bigger lower pulley, drag radials, traction bars, and a full dyno tune on the lightning... Should do 475 at the tires with that, and a 75 shot of nos will cool of the charge temps nicely in the summer... The viper may have to wait...

I'll probably let it go for 20. The motor is EASILY worth half that if you can even find one, and the kit wasn't cheap. I think the rear end alone (chrome 9") was around 2k. Keep mind a paint job on my car will knock that price down. :mdr:

A ZX12R? HA! :gasp: I couldn't hang with that. I'm looking at a low 11 second 1/4 with a good 60' time. Nowhere NEAR a high 9 second pass.

Ah, so you have the cobra kit? Hmm, might have to work something out then... How custom do you want to go with that paint job? Hopefully very custom.

Stripes, flames, ghost effects, painted decals, I can do pretty much anything with paint.

JERRY2KONE 03.16.2010 12:19 AM

Geeeshzz James you would be a great neighbor to have for getting custom body and paint work done. I wish we lived in your area. Hell I would cut your lawn and paint your house for a good customized paint job on a Camaro or a Stang. All you need is a little custom stereo work and you would be Cosmo central for autos. Not to mention the R/C races and beers out back afterwards.

Its actually my dads. I'm really not sure about the paint job to be honest. Not terribly custom. Most of it would be body work. It only has 2 dings or so, but there are some changes I had in mind. :mdr:

Back on topic for a sec: It's not a lack of moderators, it's simply a lack of common courtesy.

A couple of moderators and Mike himself should be all that's needed to moderate a respectable forum. Yeah, there's gonna be the odd bad egg, but if people ignore them, they will just move on. Nobody (at least most people) don't like talking to themselves.

JERRY2KONE 03.16.2010 12:32 AM

Who you calling respectable?:diablo: Don't you let these guys start thinking that kind of crapp.:na: Your right though. For the most part we do a pretty good job of letting peole know when they are out of line or just need to move on. Still a quick access button would be a great add on so we can get to you guys quickly to thwart off intruders, that is without having to dig through threads to find all of the Mods PM info.

Just add the mods to your friends. That way all you gotta do is go to there profile and PM em.

BrianG 03.16.2010 12:36 AM

Even letting people know they are out of line sometimes just gets them going. Best to ignore them like they never even posted.

The quick access button would be nice I guess. But like someone said, you can report a post as spam and the mods will get it (not sure what such a button looks like since I don't see the same page you guys do). Other than that, only Mike and maybe Serum can ban people. Mods can just delete/move posts/threads.

I do custom stero too. And window tinting, and engine work and pretty much anything else car related. And I am a "gunsmith" too (not really but I am very good with auto pistols, revolvers and anything gas operated). Plus i can instal home a/c, plumbing, framing, electrical, and gas. So I am handy to know... I guess I just like to work with my hands, mainly fixing stuff. I am a fixer, but that is ok, some get to create, and some have to fix. Not much of a beer drinker, but I will drink crown or cognac with you all night!

It does not have to be anything special looking. Just an Icon that everyone has access to in order to report issues. That would be much less of a problem then having everyone in the site adding the Mods to their friends list. Just an icon for trouble calls like most maintenance facilities use. Something that is posted on the main home page for easy quick access for everyone. Myabe have them go to a central file that Mods can all check when they are on line with RCM without loading up their personal PM space.

Its like a warning. If implemented, usually enough equals a ban for x amount of time.
