I got a good look at the LX1e yesterday at the track. There are 2 guys running them, however both are rookies at driving so it was hard to compare them to the 8ights while veterans are driving those.

I will say they are very robust. With inexperienced driving often comes high flying, cart wheeling, awkward jumps and landing. They got back up and kept driving.

I would have liked to see someone with experience take the wheel and give a comparison.

I like the spoke wheels, but if you're a big jumper like me, dish is probably the way to go.

gotta love that peral white lid...BARF!

the first thing i did was get a clear lid for it. i'm not big on white as a color.

you'll have a blast with it man. glad to see you got the buggy.

DrFizz2k1 05.14.2010 11:50 AM

Now, I ran it for maiden voyage at midnight.. seems fast enough on 2s math says its doing 30 or so... , i know 3s is gonna scream. 4s might be ridiclous. :) the Novak 5.5HV and MMP should be ok until i can pick up a Tork motor and HW ESC or maybe just an HW combo...

but this morning, when i could see the chassis, i noticed diff fluid from center diff is leaking... spun all over the inside of the chassis and body... spur is soaked... need to see what thats about... i never opened it.. it looked too shiney out of the box. but i forgot to investigate...

nitrostarter 05.14.2010 11:53 AM

Definitely opt for the Tork motor if you can. Quality is always preferred. Should run nicely with the MMP in this buggy.

More than likely the oil slung is because of a loose screw or poorly seated gasket on the diff cup. Check there and make sure to top off the fluid while you're at it.

my diff was fine, but i agree with nitro. it's easily fixed.

as far as the motor, i have a neu that i was gonna ebay...u want it? i bought a combo because i desperately needed an esc on a raceday and forgot to bring a backup. it's brand new.

it's 42.00 because it's overseas express shipping. it'll be there in 3 days. they are expensive, but will be the last set of onroad tires you'll ever need.

DrFizz2k1 05.20.2010 03:28 PM

I'll order them after the 1st.. b compound right??

and these "Parada" caliber knock offs.. work pretty damn good man.. i think they are better than the racing spike/crimefighters that i used before.. atleast they seem to be better than i recall the others being.. i havent ran any of them in forever.. but these are wearing good, and bite even on my smooth capped street that none of my other tires get traction on at all..

yeah, b coumpound is right. i gotta try those caliber knockoffs. those look really grippy..... but with all the esc drama i've got goin' on right now i'm gonna be broke for awhile.

btw....
Tower has the novak HV sets on sale. i got a 7.5 (motor and esc) for $135 today.

DrFizz2k1 05.20.2010 11:18 PM

7.5HV? Looking at your list of trucks, I cant see where you'd use it.. i have a 5.5, and sold a 6.5 with my Slash 4x4... you must be putting it in a MAXX... i can see the 7.5 on 4s being fun.. the 5.5 on 4s was a beast.. that is a great price though, especially if you have alot of 2s packs to run together on that system.. i LOVE:love: me some sensored... and im my 10 scale stuff, i wont go back to sensorless.. ever... i really wanna try one of the new Orion "high torque" motors.. that motor just feels good.. heavier than my Novak HV...

I'd actually be using it in either my ofna or my 8ight-E buggy. i remember using a 2S on my 2650 neu motor and it was plenty fast for bashing at my track.

so i think geared very conservatively, it would be plenty fast to use a 3S pack on the 7.5 since it's a 3000kv motor.

mostly the novak system is an experimnent to see if it'll work as a basher until i can get the parts i need to fix my mamba issue. BrianG and SuicideNeil gave me some great advise on how to fix my BEC issue and early testing looks very very positive.

sabongi 05.21.2010 02:42 PM

could someone please measure max dimensions on battery tray? Would a 6S fit?

i've run 6S in mine before. (2) 3S flightmaxx and turnigy 40C packs work fine. so does venom IIRC.

you just need to run shorter packs. i have no way to measure mine right now since i'm not at home.

DrFizz2k1 05.21.2010 04:18 PM

145mm x 53mm... height can be about anything you want.. the straps are plenty long..

simplechamp 05.21.2010 09:36 PM

I am also running the Parada tires on my buggy and have been pleased with them. The compound is pretty firm, but they should last a long time. Also have the Badlands-style ones from the same seller, forgot what they are called, but I haven't run them much yet because on grass they have too much traction and I kept rolling over in turns.

scarletboa 05.25.2010 12:52 AM

i just ordered myself a lx-1e from tower and a castle 2200kv motor from e-bay.

i also got a novak 18-20t pinion set to go along with it. i plan on running the 18t on 4s and 3s. i hope this thing is as durable as you guys say it is.

btw, i know novak's pinions aren't exactly the best, but that is what plastic spur gears are for.

DrFizz2k1 05.25.2010 03:22 AM

YAY! Really need to order a 16... the 18 and 21 i ordered are outrageous big.. Im gonna need to order a 6s.... :)

i'll still be ordering that 16t pinion. don't worry:lol:

DrFizz2k1 05.25.2010 12:45 PM

Order 2, i'll pay you for one of them.. split the shipping...

DrFizz2k1 05.27.2010 01:58 AM

Fun with gearing today...

21/51 on 4s = 57mph with body and wing on.. ON GRASS!!! LOL.. back to 14/51 for now... till i gets me some new batteries...

Talking about bad influences... :P

Working out a deal with dwight..planning to sell my MMM rustler roller to him haha...I'll be picking up a lx1e soon. Already have the 2650kv MMM and 4s lipos and a hitec hs 985 servo for it. Can't wait :D

DrFizz2k1 07.10.2010 02:01 PM

NICE!! For starters, He has the tires for the project... plus, the know how and experience to carry on, and see it through to its goal. not to mention he's a great guy to deal with, and has always gone above and beyond when it came to helping me or that vxlbeast dude... your truck will be happy (at least at first) in its new home... and who knows.. maybe he'll take it to its goal, and get it on video so that the nay sayers on the other board can jet off your sack about being a quitter... :)

On another note.. I bought a 2650 to run as well... thinking some high speed 4s runs with that while i wait for the right 6 cell to become available...

arvint 07.10.2010 09:05 PM

motor mount for ultra lx-1e

does rc monster or anyone make a different motor mount for the ultra lx-1e?????

scarletboa 07.18.2010 03:44 PM

my lx-1e has a bent chassis, thanks to it bouncing 6ft in the air off of the wing. it was very bent, the rear chassis brace was torn off of the bulkhead, and the dogbone was shaped like a question mark. i managed to get the chassis and dogbone straightened temporarily, but it didn't take much to tweak the chassis, bending my chassis brace.

the cheapest i have found a stock chassis for the lx-1e was $70. this is a standard 6061, non-machined 3mm chassis. why the hell is it so expensive? a new chassis for my crt x2 is only $40 and it is machined, 7075, lightened and hardened.

are there any aftermarket chassis for this buggy? i haven't been able to find any, so if anybody knows of either a cheaper chassis, or an aftermarket chassis, please, let me know.
