No pads in stock...:oP...will the robinson work for now?

squeeforever 04.18.2006 03:55 PM

ok, the slipper DOES come with pads, not the stock slipper plates though, youll need those but you should have then from the original slipper. as for gears, well 14/51 is WAY to low. more like 20/51. thats what i run, i think a 18 will be slightly better though. i would get a 18 and 20.

coolhandcountry 04.18.2006 07:32 PM

Yeah! The slipper comes with the pads. You order a spur gear to fit the strobe. Need the stock plates like squee mentioned to. I also agree with the gearing. 18 or 20 51

neweuser 04.19.2006 09:19 AM

Ok guys! Glad to hear it comes with pads. I still have the stock plates so that's awsome. I got a 16 because I wasn't sure about the steel gear going with the nylon 51T and i think it was out of stock though too, will it still work?

Sylvester 04.19.2006 09:39 AM

It should work, im gonna be recieving my package soon with my gears in there! 16/51 on a 10L :)

Serum 04.19.2006 10:03 AM

I don't know if you already have got the presure plates that you need for the slipper? (the stock plates are fine)

neweuser 04.19.2006 10:10 AM

Yep, got'em! Thanks! Can anyone tell me what my temps should be at? Just want to make sure i'm not going to fry my controller and stuff. The controller doesn't have "saftey" or "thermal" protection right?

neweuser 04.19.2006 10:11 AM

See my other thread guys!!!!

Sylvester 04.19.2006 10:20 AM

You should be at safe temps, but id just gear up, since bl motors dont like to be undergeared, but since its an XL its safe. You should be fine! P.s: To find perfect gearing you have to play around with different pinions, you can use a therory or a wild guess, but real life experience is better, so just feel out the truck, take it easy first couple of runs and you will be fine my freind!

neweuser 04.19.2006 10:34 AM

Thaks again. I think i'm ready! Now all i have to do is wait for it to get to me!!!! Then the fun part...taring down and rebuilding!! If i can get my pics to work I'll show before's and afters!!!

Sylvester 04.19.2006 10:37 AM

Cant wait to see it! I too, am just waiting for the essential parts for my revo to be running, cant wait to tear up some dirt;)

coolhandcountry 04.19.2006 05:56 PM

Can't wait for you to get a video of it tearing up dirt either. :027:

squeeforever 04.19.2006 06:20 PM

theres nothing to worry about with the pinions and spur. also, i think your gonna have a little problem with heat. i think a 18 or 20 is right. 16 is probably gonna be to low.

Sylvester 04.19.2006 08:17 PM

Sorry to highjak, but is 16/51 too low for a 10l on 16 cells? I think it should be fine.

squeeforever 04.19.2006 08:38 PM

sounds right to me.

neweuser 04.19.2006 08:49 PM

well, for now, i'm runnin 14 cells. still gonna be hot? what speeds am i lookin at here with 16? vs 18?

squeeforever 04.19.2006 09:47 PM

16 i dont think the motor will have enough of a load and it will run hot.

neweuser 04.20.2006 10:09 AM

Ok. I'll see if the LHS will have an 18 mod1, i doubt it, but will see. the 18 and 20 are out of stock! Dang nab it! hehe

coolhandcountry 04.20.2006 02:09 PM

If you running the 1/8 diffs with 16 51 gearing On a 10L and 14 cells. I think it will be fine.

neweuser 04.20.2006 02:16 PM

Right now my 10xl/9920 will be ran on 14 cells with stock diffs until i get new ones. thinking hybrids with 6 or 8 spyders. tranny not sure yet, may just get a single speed to lose some weight, she' getting heavy! will mips' hook up to hybrids ok? I also will get new batts when i get a chasis, i'm probably going to build my own this time, 20 cells!!!

coolhandcountry 04.20.2006 02:27 PM

I ran a 9xl on 16 51 gearing on 14 cells as well with no heating issues. I think the 10 xl will not heat up like talking about it but it may not run as fast as you want either. It can take more if you want to.

neweuser 04.20.2006 05:10 PM

We'll see and I'll let you guys know. As soon as i can get it runnin! Now it's just the wait to get to me and then put it in...which may take some time. I want to do it right the first time! Hence all the questions! hehehe, soon!

neweuser 04.20.2006 05:20 PM

i'll try to get pics on leter tonight. maybe try an burn them on a cd to see if that works. i have some of the hv set up...
