Very nice build! Do you know its top speed the way its geared?

v8hatch 02.14.2011 10:00 PM

Have no idea mate, i did try some of the calculators but i could get them to work...lol

v8hatch 02.15.2011 05:47 AM

Here is some slow motion video

suicideneil 02.15.2011 10:09 AM

We can work out the speed with BrianG's calculator, just need to know:

diff ratio ( ring & pinion tooth counts )
center diff tooth count
pinion tooth count
voltage/ cell count
motor kv
tire diameter

Certainly hauls though when you drop the hammer...

I think i'm right with those figures.....lol

Cool beans- Ziggy says that setup should give you 48mph, which seems pretty sound & reasonable to me

Did a walk around video, not really good with these sort of videos talking about the buggy but here it is anyway.

What is the car in the background?

v8hatch 02.18.2011 03:46 AM

you must be talking about this.

silentbob343 02.18.2011 04:24 AM

Yes, love the fender flares. Holden can make a sweet car.

Need more details please, LH or LX, engine, etc.

v8hatch 02.18.2011 05:44 PM

It's an LX 308 auto to much done to it to list mate.

v8hatch 02.19.2011 08:40 AM

Well the front diff case cracked completely open today and hows this for luck i picked up a Losi LST roller off Gassman, it has Alloy diff cases, some really nice shocks, 23mm hex's and Alloy rear blocks all going onto my Baja.

Can you get some closer pics on how you mounted the rear of the rollcage? Did you mount the upper part of the bumper (see pic and part circled in red) to anything?

v8hatch 02.19.2011 10:11 AM

Yes mate have a look at this pic.

thzero 02.19.2011 10:41 AM

Cool mate... I'm going to have to figure out something for my Savage version.

Btw I like the Holden. :) I have an American Holden, i.e. an 04 GTO.

v8hatch 02.19.2011 10:10 PM

Oh yeah thats the Monaro over here.

v8hatch 02.20.2011 07:06 AM

Went down to the local high school to test out the new shocks, i guess they work well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5ariQmnynI

But i guess the new tyres don't like brushless power.

silentbob343 02.20.2011 07:55 AM

Nice ute too

v8hatch 02.20.2011 04:18 PM

That one is my partners ute she loves it.

v8hatch 03.09.2011 05:05 AM

Ok got the new tyres on and i must say they sure do look good, still need to give it a run to see how they are on this buggy. I also got some Shock socks from possessed (from an Aussie forum) and a Skin for the wing from the UK. Next is a new body.

Jahay 03.09.2011 07:15 AM

im loving the new look!

Love the green!

The wheels and tyres look awesome! I REALLY WANT A SET! Just worried that the weight will cause strain on my motor etc

Cant wait to see some vids of this! Did you gear down to compensate for the extra weight????

did you get the extra hard compound hostile tyres ???

v8hatch 03.09.2011 07:24 AM

Thanks mate, wait till you see the new body...

I have left the gearing at the moment, i'll see how it goes.

i got the medium compound as this doesn't weigh as much as a real baja

v8hatch 03.12.2011 05:39 AM

Got out today for it's first real bash, it went well even though i snapped off the rear shocks ends on it's first landing, after fixing that all went well or at least i thought, when i got home i descovered i had bent the front drive shaft and cracked the arms.

Jahay 03.12.2011 05:52 AM

Hi Bud,,, looks like it is performing nicely... but i have one worry...

did you do all that damage from similar jumps on the last 2 videos? I cant believe any truck, would sustain any damage from those??? Maybe the extended chassis is taking its toll on the arms and shafts?

v8hatch 03.12.2011 06:53 AM

No mate it's not from those video's this was a lot later on in the day, i took it to hard and got some big air landed right on that corner i'm surprised it didn't bend the chassis but it's still dead straight.

v8hatch 03.12.2011 06:56 AM

This video is the first one i have made with the keychain camera

Kirkinsb 03.12.2011 10:29 AM

That is really a nice build. Makes me want to start one. Throw a GPS on that thing so we can get a top speed run on it. Love the look with the actual baja tires/wheels. Nice!

v8hatch 03.12.2011 11:26 PM

This is another video one of the boys took, i get some good air in this one and even a forward flip at around the 2.25 minute mark

mistercrash 03.13.2011 11:42 AM

The other guys jumps are lame compared to yours. Like they don't have enough power or no traction. And I turned the sound down 'cause the noise of petrol engines was actually making me mad. When I heard the sound of that nitro truck, I almost lost it. You're 4WD Baja is awesome.

v8hatch 03.14.2011 11:09 PM

Yeah your right they don't have enough power and it's because of there weight, they were taking a big run up and i was just coming up to it slowly then hitting full throttle at the base of the hill, if i took a run up it would have cleared the hole thing and smashed into the ground a long way off.

bigsteel 03.14.2011 11:29 PM

Am I the only one who wants to see a tug of war between the BL and gas 5b's?

zueslilbuddy 03.15.2011 07:26 AM

Finally I'm able to join this site :diablo:

This thread has inspired me in a big way, hope you dont mind me copying your build, and picking your brain as I go.

This rig of yours is awesome and I want one, my E-Muggy will forgive me I think.
Will make it the big boy in my heard lol

http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/x...dy2/005-80.jpg

v8hatch 03.15.2011 07:32 AM

Welcome aboard mate, looks like another Muggy conversion. You should check out Brians as well, he has done a lot more to his than i have.

zueslilbuddy 03.15.2011 10:50 AM

I've read his thread a dozen times or so.

I like the way yours looks like a 5b and the simplicity of the design.
I'll be taking pointers from both builds but want the 5b look.
Will be starting mine just as soon as I can get ahold of some channel aluminum.
What width did you use?

JERRY2KONE 03.15.2011 11:38 AM

Super project mate.

G-day mate. I love what you have done with this project. Using a piece of aluminum channel was very creative and yet simple. Your entire build was great to see and I really do hope that I can get the chance to do womething like this one of these days. Although the last thing I need right now is another project to start working on. I have several builds that I need to finish already. Nice work. Have fun playing with that. Nice to see one of the CC 1717's put to good use. I have three of them in my collection for future projects. G-day mate.

v8hatch 03.15.2011 04:32 PM

Thanks mate, have you got your projects on a forum somewhere for me to have a look at? it would be ineresting to see what other people like yourself are doing.

JERRY2KONE 03.15.2011 05:59 PM

I have to dig.

I have to dig around to find the threads that I posted pics on. Here a few of them. I will edit more in as I find them. All of my projects have involved 3906 SuperMaxx type vehicles. I wanted to keep things simple until I am ready to move on. The fun for me is in the builds.
