Subject:In regards to your new Emaxx chassis w/ lowered battery plate, Does it accomodate both styles of Maxx (new and old) transmissions? If so, it's a brilliant move and a nice replacement for the Gmaxx chassis. Are you planning to do a upper plate to accommodate revo components? If so I may be interested

Thank you,

Larry Palmer jr

No it does not accommodate both trannys only the newer one. As for a revo chassis. We are working on one now, but the parts will not be interchangeable.

here was their answer.

I am waiting on the revo chassis

... hmmm I think I'll run mine for a little while longer before I consider this one Zack... I am curious to see how it performs though...

'Would be cool if FLM updated their site with more/better pictures and more detailed descriptions.

A Revo chassis? Interesting. Wonder if they'll also do Revo bulks...

Hey Zach MonsterMike had already answered that one for us a few posts ago.

Not directly compatible with the old tranny - designed for the new tranny just like their other 3905/3908 chassis - just lighter and lower Cg.

coolhandcountry 01.12.2012 10:29 AM

Me personally kind of like the new tranny design.
Looks beefier inside with the wider gears.
If run a single motor it centers that in truck as well.
I know many still have old style tranny but I sold mine before it got more of a paper weight.

RC-Monster Mike 01.12.2012 11:56 AM

The new tranny is superior to the old tranny in pretty much every way except size(single speed converted original tranny with a hardened idler and beefed top gear is a stout, light and small tranny - hard to come by these days, though).

I was just making an observation based on looking at the chassis rails, looked like it could accommodate both. I to like the newer design better, all i got though is the old one. I do plan to get a newer transmission, but got to deal with what i got for now

sikeston34m 01.20.2012 08:29 PM

Just received an email from FLM.

RC-Monster Mike 01.25.2012 01:09 PM

I spoke with Jamie yesterday and they were packing them up, so many/most should ship today most likely. That means I should have them by the end of the week. :)

drw 01.26.2012 05:25 PM

gumleguf 01.31.2012 02:04 PM

My chassis is being held back by customs. Bummer... :(

sikeston34m 01.31.2012 06:54 PM

So are these in stock at the Monster now? :intello:

RC-Monster Mike 01.31.2012 07:12 PM

Indeed they are. :)

drw 01.31.2012 07:50 PM

Excellant! Thanks Mike!

Just ordered myself one.

Now it's time to start gathering my parts together for this build.

FLM Hybrid Bulks - Check

RPM Arms - Check

Hmmm................. :yipi:

gumleguf 02.03.2012 07:37 AM

Got my kit out of customs today. Looks good and the lower plate is much nicer than I expected. First impression is that the top plate is lighter than I expected - it also bends quite easily. Has quite a big cutout for the spur gear as well. Will be fun to see how it works once installed in a truck.

Pics for your enjoyment:

Second impression: Not enough of the short flat head screws included.

ANGRY-ALIEN 02.03.2012 09:51 AM

Wow... that looks real nice... what did you mean when you said it 'bends quite easily'? Are you referring to its flexibility?

Alien

gumleguf 02.03.2012 10:11 AM

Yeah, I mean flexes quite easily... :)

Hmmm... is that a good or bad thing?

gumleguf 02.03.2012 10:56 AM

I think it's okay. It doesn't flex at all once installed on the chassis braces (obviously). :)

But it is VERY different from the other FLM Maxx chassis. Liking it a lot so far.

ANGRY-ALIEN 02.03.2012 11:27 AM

Sounds good... waiting to see how well it performs...

Alien

Kcaz25 02.03.2012 12:19 PM

Awesome! yeah I think the bottom plate looks nicer than expected!!

I am not so keen on RPM arms up front. The truetracks are great for the rears as long as your suspension isn't raised high enough to let the cvds pop out of the cups. For the front I would prefer FLM arms. I've had both. I run FLM on the front and truetracks in the rear now. RPM arms bend hinge pins in the front sometimes. Good aluminum will keep hinge pins intact much better. I would get the FLM arms for the sole purpose of getting the hinge pin brace to use on whatever arms.

gumleguf 02.03.2012 12:29 PM

Weight on the last picture is around 400 grams, for anyone interested...

gumleguf 02.04.2012 12:32 PM

Wasn't planning on using the chassis for this truck, but I wanted to see how it would all come together. Pics for your enjoyment:

I did not mean to post this comment here, but HERE instead. Sorry

I'm excited about this chassis though and the projects that will ensue.

I received my chassis in the mail today.

only 46mm battery width

Back to modding battery trays.

Pretty disappointed with this.

RC-Monster Mike 02.06.2012 07:06 PM

Jamie did say he would allow it to accomodate the wider packs, but later in a phone conversation explained that in order to use wider packs, you need to trim the inside leg on the included stops, thereby using the chassis braces as the inner battery stop - not the most elegant solution I guess and not the initial plan as explained, but a workable solution.

suicideneil 02.06.2012 07:27 PM

Do I see custom machined delrin/nylon battery stops being sold in the RC-Monster store as an optional extra.... :intello:

gumleguf 02.07.2012 04:31 AM

I didn't get around to take pictures of it yet, but I have a major problem trying to install Traxxas 5151R center drive shafts with the stock brushless tranny.

My truck is built with the FLM10700 chassis, FLM bulk heads and UE 8 spider diffs with Ultralight cases. This:

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-H...0/P1050199.JPG

Once the tranny is installed on the top plate and the drive shafts are installed on the output shaft, the rear dog bone (the long one) goes all the way into the rear diff drive cup but it still needs to go in about 5mm more before the screw holes on the top plate and the matching holes in the chassis braces lines up. Hope it makes sense - I'll try to take a picture soon.

I don't understand how this is suddenly a problem? I have two other E-Maxx chassis (including a GorillaMaxx G4) and I don't have this problem with the exact same tranny and driveshafts.
